Chapter 16.3
Su Qian was carried into the passenger seat, and Jin Lie was bending over to fasten her seatbelt. From this angle, she could clearly see his thick eyelashes and the beautiful hump on his nose bridge.
“Am I going to stay in the hospital today?”
“Probably.”
“Then could you help me get the script down, and bring a set of clothes.” She paused and added, “And the makeup bag.”
Jin Lie’s eyelid twitched as if in a spasm, and he glared at her irritably, “Do you want me to move the entire house for you?”
“Please, I have to go for an audition tomorrow.”
Jin Lie’s face was tense and he didn’t move.
Su Qian carefully tugged at his sleeve and shook it, “Please, okay? Hmm?”
She didn’t know if it was because she was sick, but her voice was exceptionally soft, and her bright big eyes flickered, like a cat begging to humans.
Jin Lie’s heart moved slightly. And he withdrew his arm coldly, “What a nuisance!”
Even though he was saying words of disgust, he gently closed the car door and turned to walk into the house.
Su Qian lowered the car window and reminded him, “It’s cool at night, remember to wear a coat when you come out!”
She was already sick, if Jin Lie fell ill too, who would take care of her?
Jin Lie seemed to not hear her and directly closed the door.
The living room was dim and quiet, with a suit casually draped over the sofa. He was silent for a few seconds, picked it up and put it on expressionlessly, then went straight to Su Qian’s room.
—
At the hospital, Su Qian was diagnosed with gastroenteritis and needed to be put on a drip.
Jin Lie opened a single room, and Su Qian sat soullessly on the hospital bed, watching the nurse prepare.
“How long will the drip take?”
“Very quick, about two or three hours. But at least three days of drips are needed.”
After saying that, the nurse tied a tourniquet around her wrist.
Su Qian had been afraid of injections since she was a child. The cold feeling on her wrist gave her a creepy fear, and the hairs on her back stood up.
She bit her lip and turned her head. Her other hand subconsciously gripping the bed sheet tightly, as if this gave her a sense of security.
Jin Lie stood by the window, taking in her actions. The pitch-black night spread behind him, sharpening the sharp lines of his face.
“Eating recklessly, are you scared now?”
He walked over, quietly blocking the needle, the shadow he cast seemed to protect her within a circle.
Su Qian was distracted and didn’t notice at all that the needle had already been inserted into her vein, “You have the nerve to say that. I got like this from eating the steak you specially prepared!”
“Was the steak bad? Or did Mrs. Wang not do a good job?”
Su Qian choked, “……Neither.”
“Then how could this happen?”
“……” She ate too much.
The snowflake steak was so delicious that she couldn’t resist eating a bit more. The original owner’s body was so thin, probably due to long-term dieting. She suddenly ate so much greasy food, her stomach couldn’t bear it all at once.
The nurse smiled, “Your husband also cares about you, just be more careful in the future.”
After the nurse finished the injection and left with the tray, the ward was quiet for a few seconds. Su Qian shook her head without any attachment, “Is this little nurse’s eyesight not good? Where did she see that you care about me?”
“Face.”
“Does your face have any other expressions besides disgust?”
Jin Lie raised his eyebrow, “Still disgust.”
Is there no justice in the world? It really confirms that saying: As long as the brother looks good, the worldview follows the facial features.
It’s shameful to be a face dog![1]顏狗 (yán gǒu) = face dog, is a Chinese internet slang it’s used to describe people who judge others based solely on their physical appearance.
.
After tossing and turning until late at night, Su Qian finally fell asleep. Jin Lie was half leaning on another bed, and occasionally glanced at how much medicine was left.
The wall lamp was on at the door, and the dim yellow light faintly shone in, vaguely reflecting her face.
The sleeping her looked softer than usual, her face was pink and plump, and her slightly open red lips were somewhat cute.
Suddenly, she frowned, and her body curled up slightly.
Jin Lie got up and walked over, pulled the blanket up a bit, and then took off his coat and draped it over the blanket. When he withdrew his hand, the back of his hand accidentally brushed against her chin, and the soft touch flashed by.
A slight tickling sensation crawled up the back of his hand, and Jin Lie clenched his fist and pressed the call button.
Soon, the nurse came to remove the needle and instructed before leaving, “Help her wipe the sweat off her forehead.”
The door closed gently, and Jin Lie stood by the bed in silence for a few seconds, resignedly pulling out a few tissues. He bent down, carefully brushed aside the hair on Su Qian’s face with his fingers, and gently wiped the sweat off her forehead.
At such a close distance, Jin Lie could clearly smell the fragrance on her. It was fresh with a hint of sweetness.
She seemed to particularly like the scent of white peaches, the ice cream she had that day was also this flavor.
The tissue was quickly soaked with sweat, and he was about to remove it when she seemed to sense something in her sleep and randomly grabbed his fingertips.
Her palm was soft and warm, her skin delicate like silk. She held his fingers tightly, as if she had grabbed something important.
In her daze, she mumbled unclearly. Her red lips opened and closed, and her hot breath blew on his fingertips.
Jin Lie’s fingers twitched slightly, and he couldn’t help but lean down to hear what she was saying.
“Dad, I’m never eating steak again…” Her eyes were tightly closed, her breath was like an orchid, “Jin Lie, this bastard… almost made me lose everything…”
Jin Lie: “……”
Jin Lie didn’t wake up until half past seven the next morning. He opened his eyes in a daze, and on the hospital bed, there was only a set of suits and a white shirt, and no one else.
He rubbed his temples, and after waking up, he called Su Qian.
A few seconds later, there was a sound from the bathroom. Su Qian pushed the door open and shouted “I’m here”, then she started to put on makeup in front of the mirror again.
She had already changed into clean clothes. The white shirt was simple and neat, and the light gray woolen wide-leg pants visually lengthened her legs, outlining a slender waistline.
She looked at Jin Lie in the mirror, and while skillfully applying eyeliner, she told him, “Zhong Ning brought the clothes over this morning, and I let him go first. Could you please take me to Shencheng Theater later?”
Jin Lie stood lazily against the wall with his hands in his pockets, “Why should I take you?”
“Because you’re already here, why should I bother someone else?”
“You’re quite confident.”
After applying lipstick, Su Qian pursed her lips and closed the cap, “You can think of it from another perspective, because I trust you.”
She walked over, and patted his shoulder solemnly, “Yesterday and today, I will never forget your great kindness. Don’t worry, if you ever have an accident and can’t move one day, I will definitely not stand by.”
She couldn’t provide financial support, but she could offer some comfort spiritually.
Jin Lie snorted, “If that day really comes, I’ll keep relying on you.”
Su Qian: “……”
“I speak from the heart, why are you punishing me like this?!”
Jin Lie couldn’t be bothered to respond, he walked back to the bed and started unbuttoning his shirt.
One, two.
Su Qian stood there like a statue, with no intention of avoiding him.
“I’m going to change clothes.”
She raised her hand to signal him to continue, “Go ahead, I’m not going to steal your clothes.”
She admitted that although she had no improper thoughts about this man, she was full of appreciation for his body.
Especially the inverted triangle under the sunlight that day, it could be described as a fine specimen of male beauty.
Jin Lie seemed to smile, after unbuttoning all the buttons, he casually unbuckled his belt, and then with a zip, he unzipped his pants.
When he started to move, Su Qian finally came back to her senses.
“What are you doing!”
“Changing clothes.”
As he spoke, Jin Lie walked towards her. The lines of his abdominal muscles were faintly visible, and his pants were loosely hanging on his waist, about to fall off.
With her eye-catching cold white skin, he looks like a living sculpture.
Su Qian swallowed, took a step back, and said, “You can change, just don’t come any closer.”
“Weren’t you the one who wanted to look? The closer you are, the clearer you can see.”
The distance between the two people was constantly shortening, and a strong sense of pressure was coming at them. After a few steps, the edge of the underwear was already exposed.
Su Qian’s eyelids jumped, and she hurriedly hid in the bathroom. With a bang, she slammed the door shut.
“Jin Lie, you stinky rascal!”
