Three days later, Su Qian boarded the plane back to her country. As soon as she landed and turned on her phone, messages flooded in like a tide. The ringtone was incessantly ringing, and Su Qian almost suspected that her phone would explode the next second.

Finally, after a minute or two, it stopped. There were hundreds of messages, all from Jin Lie. The content was mostly asking where she was and expressing his wish to talk to her.

Su Qian hesitated for a few seconds, then deleted all these messages. She was not even as good as plain rice, why should she compete with the white moonlight. If one is not careful, everything that has been painstakingly built up in front could collapse.

In this world, she still needs to protect herself and live her own life.

When the nanny car arrived at the community, it was already past eight in the evening. Su Qian, dragging her tired body, returned home, only to find that no matter what, she couldn’t turn on the lights in the living room.

The landlord, familiar with the place, went to the balcony to get a ladder and asked Su Qian to help pull the circuit breaker. After fiddling for a while, he said the light was fine. He got off the ladder, opened the fuse box, and then chuckled lightly, “It’s a tripped circuit breaker.”

He flipped the circuit breaker up, pressed the switch, and the light turned on instantly.

“No problem, I live in the building across, you can contact me anytime if you need anything.” The landlord said, then paused, “You’re Su Qian, right? I’m not mistaken, am I?”

Su Qian nodded, and handed him one of the bottles of mineral water, “Yes, it’s me.”

The landlord took the water bottle, and smiled awkwardly, “I watched your live trivia show, you’re amazing, you know everything.”

After chatting for a while, the landlord was really enthusiastic and also helped Su Qian check the water heater and gas stove. Su Qian felt embarrassed, so she reciprocated by giving him a small gift she had brought back.

Just then, the doorbell suddenly rang. The landlord said he should leave and helped Su Qian open the door.

Jin Lie’s expectant gaze instantly froze when he saw a man coming out. His cold gaze slid over the man’s face, and finally landed on the gift box in his hand.

“Who are you?”

He spoke word by word, and his tone was filled with an impending storm, making people shiver involuntarily.
