The Academic Queen Wears Many Masks
Chapter 2: Now, Do I Deserve to Sit Here?

“The one who saved you.” Ye Wushuang’s voice was devoid of any emotion.

She wasn’t a good Samaritan, but she was willing to save Ji Hanhai.

She took the belt from the dead man’s body and tied it above the wound on Ji Hanhai’s thigh to stop the bleeding.

Then, she pulled out the tree branch, ripped off the deceased’s shirt, and used it to pack the wound.

The old man grunted, the veins on his neck bulging. Even at his age, he didn’t cry out in pain.

Ye Wushuang couldn’t help but admire Ji Hanhai even more.

She took out a bullet, bit open the cap at the back, and sprinkled the gunpowder evenly over the wound that had stopped bleeding.

Once that was done, she ignited the gunpowder, creating a brilliant flame over the wound.

Ji Hanhai still didn’t cry out in pain. Instead, he fixed his sharp gaze on Ye Wushuang.

“This is a common emergency method for stopping bleeding and disinfecting on the battlefield. Who are you?”

Such practiced skills didn’t seem like they belonged to an eighteen-year-old girl!

And she had just blown the foreign assassin’s head off with a single shot, her marksmanship was mind-boggling!

It was as if she had repeated this set of actions countless times!

Ye Wushuang frowned.

Finally, she gave her name, “Ye Wushuang.”

With Ji Hanhai’s status, even if she remained silent, her entire lineage would be investigated.

But no matter how much they investigated, they wouldn’t uncover her reincarnation.

A steady stream of footsteps approached from a distance. Ye Wushuang knew that Ji Hanhai’s reinforcements had arrived.

She left Ji Hanhai and headed towards her home.

Ji Hanhai was momentarily stunned.

She just left like that?

She saved a national hero and didn’t even want a reward?

Or perhaps…she didn’t even care about one?!

The next morning, Ye Wushuang bid farewell to her parents, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and boarded the bus heading for Yancheng.

It was still early, and there wasn’t much traffic on the highway. The driver was relaxed, but when a Rolls-Royce sports car came speeding towards them, he couldn’t help but sit up straight.

The back window of the car was slightly open, allowing the driver to see the man sitting in the back seat.

The man was about twenty-seven years old, clad in a perfectly tailored, expensive black suit. His features were sharp and defined, his deep, narrow eyes held a chilling coldness, making him even more handsome than the hottest male celebrities in the entertainment industry.

Swoosh.

The two cars brushed past each other, disappearing from each other’s rearview mirrors.

Ye Wushuang was fiddling with her phone and didn’t notice this scene.

[Ding! Trial Mission Released.]

As the system notification sounded, a line of text that others couldn’t see appeared before her.

[Trial Mission (1): Achieve First Place in the Feiniu Academy’s Monthly Exam.]

“Although I haven’t experienced a formal education, I received a well-rounded education within the organization. Reviewing high school knowledge should be a piece of cake, taking first place should be easy.” She muttered to herself.

An hour later, the bus stopped at the gate of Feiniu High School.

Ye Wushuang stepped off the bus, greeted by a musical fountain with a giant white book sculpture in its center, engraved with nine words:

“Dedicated to the Cause of Education for Life.”

As the city’s best aristocratic school, the students and their families were all dressed in branded clothing and adorned with expensive accessories.

Ye Wushuang was the only exception.

She wore an outdated white short-sleeved shirt, paired with faded blue jeans, and her canvas shoes had yellowed edges. Her single ponytail was held back by a hair tie, devoid of any adornments.

She stood out like a sore thumb, out of place with everything around her.

And naturally, she drew everyone’s attention.

“Holy crap, who’s this country bumpkin? There’s no new transfer student, is there?”

“Who else could it be? Who’s the poorest family in the whole school? Shen Shao’s country bumpkin fiancée, of course!”

“Ye Wushuang? No way! I remember Ye Wushuang being ugly as sin, with her thick bangs, she looked like a ghost. How can she be so pretty?”

“You’re stupid, she just got rid of her bangs. I’m kinda smitten…”

“Quick, take a picture and send it to everyone!”

It was as if they had discovered a new world, a bunch of students whipped out their phones and started taking pictures of Ye Wushuang.

Some boys were even completely mesmerized.

Ye Wushuang was too beautiful today!

She was carrying her backpack on one shoulder, her hands casually stuffed in her pockets, her back straight, her steps confident. Her icy black eyes were captivating, and the occasional flash of coldness at the corners of her eyes was intimidating.

Even if they said she was a professional assassin, people would believe it!

“Tch, all she did was change her hairstyle, what’s so shocking?”

Some girls scoffed with sour expressions.

But no matter how much they sneered, they couldn’t deny Ye Wushuang’s beauty. The news spread like wildfire through the school.

By the time Ye Wushuang reached the door of Class 2, Grade 12, following the route she remembered, the entire class knew about her transformation.

They all looked at Ye Wushuang with disdain, their young faces full of aversion and contempt.

“Wow, the country bumpkin actually got pretty!”

“So what if she’s pretty? The moment she comes in, I can smell that poor-people stench, it’s disgusting.”

“Don’t say it, I’m about to throw up my breakfast.”

“Back then, Old Man Shen wanted to put Ye Wushuang in Class 1 with Young Master Shen. But the Vice Principal was also afraid that Ye Wushuang would hold Class 1 back and ruin the study atmosphere of the top class.

So, they symbolically arranged her in our Class 2.”

“It’s all Ye Wushuang’s fault, why doesn’t she just go die already, damn it!”

Ye Wushuang stepped into the classroom.

It was seat-changing day. The school, aiming to encourage students to make more friends, had a rule that everyone could switch seats freely, first come, first served.

Ye Wushuang chose an empty seat. Before she could even set down her backpack, the girl sitting at the desk next to it slammed her hand down, and with a fake smile, said, “Excuse me, this seat is taken. She’s just gone to the bathroom.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, someone snickered.

There was no one in that seat, of course. They just didn’t want to sit next to Ye Wushuang!

Ye Wushuang gave the girl a cold glance and headed towards another empty seat nearby.

Before she could get there, the girl next to that seat stood up impatiently and said, “This seat is also taken, find somewhere else.”

Who in their right mind would want to sit next to Ye Wushuang?

This time, even more people snickered.

Ye Wushuang narrowed her eyes, her gaze chilling.

Just then, a boy with acne all over his face raised his hand and shouted, “Me, me, me! I have an empty seat!”

Ye Wushuang turned and went to the boy’s direction.

Just as she was about to place her backpack on the seat, the boy stomped on the chair with his foot, his friendly expression morphing into arrogant disdain. “But this empty seat is for a “person” to sit on, you stupid pig don’t qualify!”

“Hahaha!”

The entire class erupted in laughter, unable to contain themselves.

The boy’s expression grew even more smug.

Ye Wushuang thought to herself:

How did the last person who dared to provoke her die again?

She let go of her backpack and slammed a fist into the boy’s face!

“Ah—” the boy howled.

Following that, Ye Wushuang kicked the boy in the stomach, sending him sprawling onto the floor!

The boy’s features contorted in pain, unable to utter a single word!

“Now, am I worthy of sitting here?” Ye Wushuang asked coldly.

She was best at reasoning with people.

Reasoning with a physical approach.
