Clock Trap
Clock Trap chapter 43

Si Nan never expected that while he was worrying about the two people in the hospital, his younger brother sold him out with a WeChat message.

The car had just pulled out of the hospital parking lot when the relentless, life-threatening phone calls began, signaling that the next few days would be chaotic and full of turmoil.

After leaving the mess for him to clean up, Si Xuanyang turned off his phone without any psychological burden, letting Si Nan be interrogated and tortured by the old lady while he stayed holed up in the hospital, unwilling to leave day or night.

Every day, when Xiao Chen came to deliver meals, he would bring some news about Si Nan, saying that even their father, Chairman Si, who was abroad monitoring projects, had returned on a private jet. They had locked Si Nan in the old Si family mansion, gathering everyone to interrogate him in turns.

Si Xuanyang nodded indifferently and asked, “Did Si Nan expose me?”

Xiao Chen glanced at Yu Sen, who was savoring his soup, and then at the moody second young master, and felt that after these few days, he had roughly figured out the relationships between these people.

This sickly Mr. Yu had probably first been involved with the first young master romantically. Later, both of them had affairs: the eldest with his new boyfriend, and Mr. Yu with the second young master. The second young master, possibly filled with resentment, betrayed his older brother, and in just a few days, sold out his own sibling.

Upon closer inspection, Mr. Yu was impressive! He managed to get both brothers into trouble, and still maintained his position, enjoying his food and drink without a care. Truly a fox spirit who brings disaster!

Xiao Chen, deep in thought, looked at Yu Sen with increasing admiration and a complex expression.

“If you don’t want your eyes anymore, you can donate them,” a cold voice said abruptly, “since this is a hospital anyway.”

Xiao Chen shivered, caught off guard by Si Xuanyang’s icy gaze, and forced a nervous laugh, no longer daring to look at Yu Sen.

“No, no… How could the first young master expose you? He hasn’t even mentioned it!” Xiao Chen said firmly.

He thought he would never be a schemer, but Si Xuanyang understood Si Nan’s feelings from what he heard.

Yu Sen was still weak. Even if Si Nan knew that Si Xuanyang was the one who reported him, he wouldn’t dare reveal everything now. If the old lady got enraged and came to the hospital to confront him, what would happen? It wouldn’t be appropriate to have Yu Sen comforted while ill. If Yu Sen fainted a few more times, Si Xuanyang might go insane, leading to indiscriminate violence where no one would be spared.

He’d have to face the consequences himself.

Yu Sen, of course, was also aware of this. While mourning for his good friend, he was also worried about his future. Having a fierce future boyfriend might be good, but being too fierce…

Then he would have to face the consequences.

Dizziness and palpitations came without any warning.

Yu Sen was leaning by the window, contemplating how to get Si Xuanyang to go downstairs to the convenience store to buy him some snacks. He had been drinking soup and eating porridge so much that he was almost turning into an immortal.

But before he could think of a plan, his whole body suddenly went limp, and dizziness struck. As he swayed, he saw a panicked face rushing toward him, catching him just before his head hit the ground.

When Yu Sen opened his eyes in a daze, he was surrounded by a group of doctors who were examining him and discussing adding several more types of medication to his daily infusions for the coming days.

Hearing this, Yu Sen felt a headache coming on. His arms were covered in bruises from the continuous infusions, and even though they weren’t swollen, his pale skin made the blood vessels and bruises very noticeable and frightening. It was not only scary but also painful, both during and after the infusion.

This was no way to live.

“Yang Yang… help me…” he groaned with a pale face.

Hearing the voice, Si Xuanyang quickly pushed aside the doctors, sat by the bed, and leaned over to look at him. “What’s wrong? Where does it hurt?”

“I don’t want any more infusions… look at my hands!” Yu Sen pitifully placed his hand in front of Si Xuanyang, leaning his head towards his thigh, looking dejected and weak.

Si Xuanyang held the horrifyingly bruised hand with a trace of anger and pain in his dark eyes, afraid to hold it too tightly. He gently rubbed Yu Sen’s eye corner with his thumb, his voice soft: “But not getting the infusion will only make you feel worse.”

Hearing this overly tender tone, the doctors exchanged glances, not daring to speak.

Yu Sen knew the infusion was necessary, but his body instinctively wanted to snuggle closer to Si Xuanyang, whose fresh scent was comforting amidst the antiseptic smell. “Hold me, I’m a bit cold.”

The doctors glanced at the bright sunshine outside and chose to remain silent: perhaps head injuries made one feel cold in summer.

Si Xuanyang, without suspicion, gently embraced Yu Sen. “Does this feel a bit better?”

“Hmm… it would be even better if you could erase the things I tricked you about,” Yu Sen said with his eyes downcast, leaning listlessly against him. “You never really called me in-law, why hold a grudge…”

The doctors were shocked, realizing they had heard some hidden family secrets about brotherly conflict in a wealthy family. Would they be silenced?

“tsk, so heartless,” Si Xuanyang said with a half-smile, pinching his face. “While seducing me and causing trouble for my brother, making me suffer from moral condemnation, and now you’re now acting like nothing happened and erasing the deeds you’ve done. What a person!”

The doctors gasped, shocked by the phrase ‘seducing me while causing trouble for my brother.’ Was there another reason for the injury on this patient’s head?

“…Yang Yang, my head hurts so much, my heart hurts,” Yu Sen immediately changed the subject when he sensed the conversation was going off track. “My hands hurt too, please help me…”

Si Xuanyang gritted his teeth, knowing that Yu Sen was probably deliberately saying this. But hearing the soft, cat-like moans and seeing the pale face, he couldn’t bring himself to speak harshly. His heart ached, and his arms were sore from holding him, but he couldn’t let go or hold too tightly.

He looked at the doctor and asked in a low voice, “What kind of medicine can relieve this?”

The doctor, glancing at the medical analysis with a melancholic expression, swallowed the words “just bear with it” and spoke in a conciliatory tone, “How about… a shot?”

Si Xuanyang frowned, “Go ahead, but be gentle with the injection.”

Gentle? How can you inject gently? Is it a tickle? Ridiculous! The doctor wiped the sweat from his forehead, cursed under his breath, and forced a smile, “…Alright then!”

Yu Sen wrapped his arms around Si Xuanyang’s waist and sighed deeply: This is what you get for trying to cut corners…

After a few more days in the hospital, Yu Sen insisted on being discharged. He feared that if he stayed any longer, he might become a burden.

Si Xuanyang, unable to refuse him, purchased medical equipment worth nearly eight figures and set it up in their villa halfway up the mountain. Three medical staff members were on standby, setting up the place like a small hospital. When Yu Sen entered, he was startled and murmured, “Is this really necessary…”

Si Xuanyang gave him a sidelong glance, “How is it not necessary?”

He hadn’t told Yu Sen how devastated and regretful he was when waiting outside the emergency room. He never wanted to experience that feeling again.

The immediate priority was to take care of Yu Sen’s health before the next crisis hit.

But the scale of this setup was hard to ignore. The first to notice something was off was his cousin, Yun Ting. When she heard that Si Xuanyang was gathering all sorts of precious Chinese herbs and even bought a few boxes of ginseng from the black market, she couldn’t sit still.

Upon learning that he had also recently purchased a large amount of precision medical equipment for home use, with all necessary nursing staff and nutritionists, she immediately drove over.

Upon arriving at the villa, she couldn’t hold back her tears, “Yang Yang! Yang Yang, you didn’t get some terminal illness, did you!?”

“What are you yelling about?” Si Xuanyang furrowed his brows as he walked down the stairs. “Keep it down.”

“Huh? You’re still handsome and look normal. You don’t seem like you have a terminal illness,” Yun Ting was confused.

“Who told you I was ill?”

“You bought so many medicines… I thought…”

“Oh, those are for someone else,” Si Xuanyang said, “But they don’t have a terminal illness. Just got a head injury and needs careful recovery.”

“For someone else?” Yun Ting’s eyes moved, catching a hint of traditional Chinese medicine smell, and she asked cautiously, “Is the person… recovering here?”

“Yes, is that a problem?”

“Not at all! I just want to meet her.”

Yun Ting was a bit excited. Her cousin usually seemed indifferent to romantic matters, and she never expected to meet his girlfriend so soon.

Given the effort and money—several tens of millions—it couldn’t just be a girlfriend. Even if the person was unwell and had a head injury, if he liked her, as his elder cousin, she should help stabilize the girl’s emotions.

A sick girl needed a caring older sister to talk to.

Si Xuanyang gave her a strange look, “I think it’s better if you two don’t meet.”

“Why? I—”

“Yang Yang, where did you go? I feel cold if I’m not hugging you to sleep…”

Yun Ting’s voice cut off, her mouth wide open as she saw a man in loose pajamas, looking sickly and swaying, walking out of Si Xuanyang’s room…

—A man!
