Clock Trap
Clock Trap chapter 55

After Si Nan wandered around for a while, he came back and quietly said to Yu Sen and the others, “I’ve explained everything to the others. Some don’t believe it and plan to try reflecting the mirror on their own today.”

“Isn’t that a bit risky? Have they figured out how to do it discreetly?” Yu Sen asked.

“There’s no choice; risks are inevitable in such situations,” Si Nan said, swallowing a cherry tomato and glancing at Ruan Xin with lingering fear. “We discovered this clue last night at the risk of our lives.”

“That’s true…” Yu Sen nodded, following his gaze. Ruan Xin was sitting at the same spot as yesterday, eating breakfast with a calm and quiet demeanor. Many people around her cast subtle glances, but she seemed oblivious, eating her food slowly.

“Do you think we should just ask this female ghost directly if she has a twin sister or something? Could she get us killed?” Yu Sen mused.

“Look at you, so naive. Is it true that people who are in love lose their IQ?” Si Nan rolled his eyes in disdain. “You’re not like the cool and stylish Yu Ge from before. Do you also have a twin brother?”

Si Xuanyang frowned and glanced at Yu Sen thoughtfully, feeling he might be a bit schizophrenic.

Yu Sen: “…What kind of look is that? Do you believe a fool’s words?”

Si Xuanyang immediately grasped Yu Sen’s hand and squeezed it. “I don’t believe him, only believe in you.”

Si Nan: “…Yu Ge, he means he only believes what you, the fool, say. He’s saying you’re a fool. Do you understand?”

“Stop stirring up trouble!”

Yu Sen shot him a look and noticed the two people sitting opposite Ruan Xin quietly taking out the mirror from their bag, attempting to position it on the table to reflect on Ruan Xin. But with only a few meters of distance, and not daring to be too blatant, they placed the mirror under the table, hesitating to reveal it.

At that moment, a girl at the neighboring table accidentally dropped her corn on the ground, rolling a few times until it lightly bumped into Ruan Xin’s foot.

The slight bump seemed to cause a huge reaction in Ruan Xin’s leg, which suddenly twitched. Her expression darkened as she stared at the corn on the ground.

Noticing the issue with her legs, Yu Sen squinted and saw Ruan Xin slowly looking their way, causing his heart to tighten.

But upon closer inspection, Ruan Xin was only staring at the girl who dropped the corn, her face expressionless and eyes dark, saying nothing.

The frightened girl nearly cried, while the two people at Ruan Xin’s table secretly held up the mirror and reflected it on her when she turned her head.

The face in the mirror showed no changes—no birthmarks, scars, or any abnormalities. Ruan Xin herself seemed unresponsive to the mirror, still focused on the girl who dropped the corn.

Yu Sen and the others exchanged glances, confirming that this was not the same Ruan Xin as last night in Si Nan’s room.

After staring for about five minutes, until the girl was almost scared to death, Ruan Xin finally stood up, slowly walked away, and left the dining area.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. The girl, drenched in cold sweat from fear, slumped in her seat, covering her chest with her right hand and gasping for breath.

Si Nan quietly said, “It seems this one is relatively kind and doesn’t kill people. Why didn’t I have such good luck last night?”

Just then, Yu Sen looked at the girl’s appearance with confusion, his pupils suddenly constricting. “What’s wrong?”

“What?”

Startled by his voice, everyone turned their gaze back to the girl, quickly noticing something unusual.

“Your face—!”

“Oh my God! What’s wrong with her face!?”

“It’s over, it’s over, it’s over…”

Voices of panic, surprise, and sympathy arose one after another. The girl was unaware of what had happened, only knowing that her face was abnormal. With a trembling voice, she asked, “What!? What are you talking about? What’s wrong with my face?”

“Why don’t you take a look at yourself in the mirror?”

She frantically fumbled for a mirror, held it up to her face, and immediately let out a shrill, agonizing scream.

Yu Sen sighed and looked away. Her face, which had started developing red spots from a certain point earlier, was now rapidly spreading with redness in all directions. The redness was decaying, and her entire face, including her features, began to rot away.

The decayed flesh was falling off her face bit by bit, and it was even starting to spread to her neck. It wouldn’t be long before it might take her life.

“Ahhhhh——!!!!”

The girl screamed in pain, tears of blood streaming from her eyes. She frantically threw the food from the table onto the floor, even tossing the chair away, but she dared not touch her face.

Everyone in the dining area was helpless and didn’t know how to save her.

Yu Sen, watching her, began to feel a pang in his stomach, even becoming a bit acidic, with an impulse to vomit. He tugged at Si Xuanyang’s sleeve and said quietly, “Let’s go outside.”

At this point, others were also leaving the dining area, eager to get away from such a horrifying scene.

“Okay.” Si Xuanyang stood up, holding his hand.

As Yu Sen and Si Xuanyang were close to the girl, just a few steps away, the girl crazily lifted the mirror high and smashed it onto the ground.

“Clang——!”

The mirror shattered into countless pieces, which fell to the ground and bounced back with immense force.

A sharp piece of the mirror happened to fly past Yu Sen’s dangling wrist, cutting him and drawing a bloody streak.

“Hiss—shit!”

Yu Sen pulled his hand free from Si Xuanyang’s grip, clutching his other wrist in pain. Dark red blood seeped from between his fingers.

“Why am I so unlucky——!”
