Easy To Deceive
Easy To Deceive chapter 4

Just as Yu Nian was trying to lull himself to sleep, a black Rolls-Royce Phantom stopped outside Song Yunchun’s apartment building in the darkness of the night.

Downstairs was a bookstore, currently empty with no one inside, not even the owner. It was so quiet that you could hear the sound of cups gently being placed on saucers.

Song Yunchun sat by the window, staring at the white ceramic cup in front of her, her back straight, while opposite her sat a tall and elegant woman and a gentle and graceful man, who could be considered a perfect couple, but somehow seemed distant and unapproachable.

She was breaking into a cold sweat.

The two people in front of her had just handed her their business cards and made brief introductions.

In short, the two people opposite her were the older brother and sister of her newly recruited employee, Yu Nian.

That wasn’t the issue.

The problem was the noble and beautiful lady in front of her, who, despite being only twenty-nine years old, was already the chairman of the Ke Yun Group, whose name often appeared in the columns and on the covers of financial magazines.

The gentleman beside her, Mr. Pei, although not as dazzling as his sister, also held an important position at Ke Yun. Song Yunchun had even read in the gossip tabloids about how prestigious this family background was.

With these two imposing figures sitting in front of her, Song Yunchun couldn’t help but feel her heart constricting, finding it hard to breathe.

“Miss Song, don’t be nervous,” Mr. Pei smiled gently. Compared to his sister’s dominance, he was like a gentle spring, soft and soothing, “We don’t mean any harm. We just want to understand Yu Nian’s recent situation from you. As his family, we are naturally worried since he ran away from home. We hope you can understand.”

“Understood, understood,” Song Yunchun echoed dryly. She held the cup, hesitated for a moment, and asked uncertainly, “Mr. Pei, are you suggesting that I should fire Yu Nian?”

In her imagination, if a rich second-generation like Yu Nian ran away from home, his family would definitely use strong measures to capture him and bring him back.

It would be best if she could take the initiative to send Yu Nian away, acting as the villain, and give him and his two siblings an easy way out.

She scratched her face, feeling a bit troubled. She could understand the feelings of the two siblings in front of her, but she actually had a good impression of Yu Nian and didn’t really want to do such a thing.

Unexpectedly, Mr. Pei shook his head.

“We don’t mean that,” Mr. Pei said gently, “My sister and I have reflected on a lot of things these days. We’ve been busy with work over the years and neglected to take care of Yu Nian. Moreover, there was a misunderstanding between us and him before he left home. Forcibly bringing him back now might not end well.”

At this point, Mr. Pei’s eyes dimmed a bit more.

Although Song Yunchun was nervous, she couldn’t help but admire the beauty of the opposite side.

Mr. Pei, such a handsome young gentleman, was elegant and gentle like jade.

Really pleasant to the eyes, every glance was rewarding.

His eyes showed a hint of helplessness, “Miss Song, we have been observing Yu Nian for a while now and can see that he is quite happy working in your restaurant. So we don’t want to force him to leave now. If he ever feels homesick one day and is willing to come back after experiencing some social trials, we’ll come get him. Before that, we’ll always worry about his safety, so we’d like to ask you to take care of Yu Nian a little more and not let him get into any danger. If he encounters any trouble, you can contact us in time.”

Mr. Pei spoke sincerely.

Following along, the secretary who had come with them all along, and had been sitting quietly at the adjacent table, tactfully handed over a box.

Mr. Pei gently pushed the box toward Song Yunchun and said in a mild tone, “I don’t know if you can agree to our request? We also know that this will trouble you, so please accept this token of appreciation.”

Wow.

Song Yunchun’s face was full of astonishment. In her lifetime, such a drama that only happened in TV dramas actually happened to her.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t the naive female lead who was handed a check and left, but a steward serving the protagonist.

But she felt a bit relieved, at least Yu Nian’s brother and sister didn’t seem unreasonable.

She was actually quite mundane. She had come out to society early and had been slick and worldly-wise. Characters like Yu Xinli and Mr. Pei were beyond her social circle and she probably wouldn’t have met them in her lifetime.

Now that they had asked for her help, and it wasn’t anything bad, this opportunity would only benefit her.

But when she thought of Yu Nian’s cute and lovely face, she hesitated. Should she refuse the gift with integrity? But she just opened it and took a look, immediately inhaling a breath of cold air.

Snap.

She closed it again.

She put on a much more sincere expression and sincerely said, “Please rest assured, I will take good care of Young Master Yu. As long as he is in my restaurant, I guarantee that not even a hair will be harmed.”

Mr. Pei was amused by her antics for a moment.

He politely said, “Thank you, Miss Song.”

Beside him, Yu Xinli’s cold expression had relaxed somewhat.

She was always domineering and unstoppable in the business world, but when it came to her only younger brother, she was helpless.

According to her thoughts, she would definitely bring Yu Nian back.

But today, watching Yu Nian in the restaurant earlier through the car window, seeing him playing the piano for customers, chatting with colleagues, and giving balloons to children, he seemed much happier than at home.

She hesitated again.

Now that her brother had reached an agreement with this Miss Song in just a few words, she sighed almost inaudibly.

“Miss Song,” her voice was a bit hoarse, “Thank you for your efforts during this time. We will send bodyguards to keep an eye on Yu Nian from a distance. It won’t affect your lives. But please don’t treat Yu Nian too differently, don’t let him notice that you’re taking care of him, and don’t let others know about his identity, okay?”

She was born with an icy beauty, in the dim light, she resembled a cool jade sculpture touched by the tendrils.

But when Yu Nian was mentioned, her otherwise indifferent eyes rippled, like an icy statue suddenly coming to life.

Song Yunchun, being stared at by such eyes, although her sexual orientation was straight, couldn’t help but feel a bit shaken and even a bit sympathetic.

She thought to herself, being an older sibling was really not easy, whether you were a CEO of a prestigious company or a refined gentleman, educating children was always a headache.

“I will,” she hesitated for a moment, then said, “Actually, I have a good impression of Yu Nian. Even if you hadn’t come to see me, as his employer, I already have a certain responsibility to ensure his safety in the restaurant.”

Her heart was in turmoil, struggling with whether to push the gift box back.

But Yu Xinli across from her smiled at her.

She heard the beautiful woman soften her voice, “Then I’ll be at ease. Thank you, Miss Song.”

Ten minutes later, Song Yunchun was still feeling dizzy as she bid farewell to Yu Xinli and Pei Zhao on the roadside.

Yu Xinli got into the car, the fleeting gentleness from earlier vanished in an instant. Sitting in the black car, her white suit was immaculate, her black hair cascading over her shoulders, still exuding a cold elegance.

Pei Zhao politely bid farewell to Song Yunchun and also got into the car.

As the Rolls-Royce drove away, Song Yunchun stood on the street in early autumn, touched her arm, and slowly walked back to her apartment.

In the end, the gift was left to her by Yu Xinli. Now held in her arms, Song Yunchun couldn’t help but feel excited and decided to deposit it in the bank tomorrow.

Yu Nian slept until dawn.

When he woke up, there were still five minutes left until eight o’clock on the alarm clock next to him.

He got up, brushed his teeth, washed his face, put on some clothes, and planned to go out.

He also had to go to work this morning. There were two waiters in the restaurant who took a day off together, so they were short-handed. He agreed to help out for half a day.

But he hadn’t gotten up before ten in the past few days. Now, even with the milk in hand, he was still sleepy and lacked the vitality of a morning person.

When locking the door, Yu Nian glanced at the room next door again.

It was time for the morning shift, but there was no movement next door.

He wondered if this neighbor was also a working person.

Just as he was thinking about it, he suddenly heard the sound of a door handle turning behind the tightly closed door next to him.

Yu Nian stopped, and his hand on the door slowed down.

He thought it would take a few more days to meet this neighbor.

He subconsciously put on a smile again, wanting to leave a good impression on this neighbor.

But soon, his smile froze on his face.

A familiar figure emerged from behind the neighboring door, tall and slender, wearing a white T-shirt and black pants, slightly lowering his head, with sharp and smooth facial lines.

Probably just took a shower, there was still a faint smell of lime shower gel on him.

And this person quickly noticed Yu Nian standing there dumbfounded, also paused, frowning in surprise.

The person who walked out from behind the door was Qi Wang.

Yu Nian was stunned.

Damn, what kind of karma was this?

He had just put this person on his blacklist and hoped to have as little contact with him as possible.

But in the blink of an eye, this person actually lived next door.

He couldn’t help but suspect that he might really be unlucky recently. Maybe he should find a temple to pray and dispel the bad luck.

Qi Wang locked his own door.

He glanced up and down at Yu Nian a few times, then glanced at the door behind Yu Nian, remembering what the landlord had said a few days ago that a young man was moving in next door, and it became clear in his mind.

Seeing Yu Nian still standing there foolishly, he rarely took the initiative to say, calmly, “So it’s you who moved in.”

There was no joy or anger in his voice, nor any welcoming attitude.

Yu Nian couldn’t help but smile.

He silently took the milk away from his mouth to avoid looking foolish.

“It’s me, anything wrong?” He smiled, but there was a hint of provocation, “I’ve paid the rent, just moved in, planning to stay for a while. Is that not okay?”

Actually, when he saw Qi Wang just now, a string of thoughts flashed through his mind, and for a moment, he really thought about whether he should move again.

But Qi Wang seemed to have a bit of a disdainful attitude, which aroused his temper.

What’s wrong?

He hadn’t done anything wrong. He could live wherever he wanted. If Qi Wang didn’t like it, he could move out himself.

But Qi Wang didn’t respond to Yu Nian’s words.

He didn’t have much disdain for Yu Nian, he had a fairly average impression of him, but who lived next door didn’t have much impact on him.

“Not really,” Qi Wang glanced at Yu Nian, casually said, “But the water and electricity here are not very good. There will be a power outage at eight tonight.”

After saying that, he turned around and left.

Yu Nian was stunned.

He was prepared for Qi Wang to mock him a few times, but what came was just, the water and electricity were not good.

It was really… strange.

Yu Nian pursed his lips, drank the bag of milk, and then slowly walked out
