Zhu Zhu’s words instantly stirred up a sense of hunger among these people; their stomachs rumbled and growled.
Several girls bashfully pressed their stomachs, hoping to silence the noises.
However, days of hunger had long left them dizzy and weak.
A few young children, their voices tinged with a hint of whining, murmured, “My tummy is really hungry too.”
Shen Yu’an patted Zhu Zhu’s head, took out a few candies from her pocket, and then unwrapped them, placing them in her mouth.
Afterwards, she carefully placed Zhu Zhu by the wall, letting her lean against it.
As soon as Zhu Zhu was set down, she anxiously grabbed onto Shen Yu’an’s sleeve.
With a teary voice, she asked, “Wuwuwu, is big sister going to leave Zhu Zhu behind?”
Shen Yu’an patted her reassuringly and said, “Big sister won’t leave. I’m just going to give them candies and come back, okay?”
Only then did Zhu Zhu release her grip, but her gaze remained fixed on Shen Yu’an’s figure in the darkness, afraid that she might disappear suddenly.
Shen Yu’an, wary of bumping her head again, had no choice but to move in a half-crouched position.
She took out a small bag from her spatial storage, the kind that she had slung around her waist. She moved to each person and gave them three candies each.
In a hushed voice, she said, “These are candies I just bought on the street. Everyone, have some to replenish your energy. It’ll give you some strength when we escape later.”
Those individuals expressed their gratitude and received the candies, unwrapping them and stuffing them into their mouths.
As for Shen Yu’an’s words about having strength to escape, they didn’t take it too seriously.
The ones who believed Shen Yu’an were only Zhu Zhu and the young children.
Shen Yu’an moved back to Zhu Zhu’s side once again, and Zhu Zhu immediately grabbed onto Shen Yu’an’s sleeve.
Meanwhile, Shen Yu’an was pondering how to escape.
When she was initially captured, her intention was to investigate what was going on here. Now that she knew, she naturally wanted to leave.
From what she had observed, there were around a dozen people in the courtyard, and dealing with them would be no problem given her skills.
However, she was unsure if there were others lurking aside from these people.
If there were additional ambushers, it wouldn’t be safe for all of them to escape together.
What made the situation even more critical was that a significant portion of these individuals were children, and several of them were running a high fever—certainly not fit for running.
Shen Yu’an settled her thoughts and focused on finding a way to escape.
In the end, she realized that using force might be the most straightforward solution.
She wondered if Ji Xun, that simple-minded fellow, had noticed her absence.
As the time advanced into the late night, the courtyard grew eerily quiet. The people there had gone to sleep, leaving only two individuals in a drowsy state to keep watch.
Even the people in the cellar had fallen asleep. However, as Shen Yu’an touched Zhu Zhu’s head, she noticed that her fever was getting worse.
Shen Yu’an bent down and stood up, leaning closer to the cellar entrance, pressing her ear against it to listen for any sounds outside. Intermittent snores drifted down from above.
Someone noticed Shen Yu’an standing up and getting closer to the cellar entrance, which startled them, causing them to recoil.
She quickly whispered a reminder, “Miss, you need to sit back down. If you leave here, those people won’t show any mercy.”
Following her advice, Shen Yu’an crouched down, and the girl sighed in relief.
Considering Shen Yu’an had just given them candies, she didn’t want to see her run out and get beaten up.
Seated once again, Shen Yu’an extended her consciousness outward, sensing that there were five people lying in the room above.
She continued to extend her consciousness until it enveloped the entire courtyard and its surroundings.
Great, everyone was sound asleep, and there were no other hidden individuals nearby.
Zhu Zhu opened her eyes and looked at Shen Yu’an before softly calling, “Big sister?”
Shen Yu’an whispered, ” Zhu Zhu, don’t make a sound. Big sister will take you all out.”
“Mhm, mhm.”
Zhu Zhu’s eyes brightened as she gazed at Shen Yu’an’s figure.
“Big sister is amazing,” she thought. “Last time, she swiftly knocked down those bad people and saved her.”
Shen Yu’an stood up again, placing both hands directly on the partition and lifting it upward with force.
However, she didn’t forcefully throw the partition aside. Instead, she carefully set it down on the ground and pushed it away.
This entire sequence happened in an instant, and the harsh sound of the slate hitting the ground woke up the sleeping people.
The individuals in the cellar saw Shen Yu’an’s actions clearly but were too terrified to speak.
In the next moment, Shen Yu’an clasped the ground with her hands and, with a leap, she was out.
The commotion caused by Shen Yu’an’s movements woke up the people inside the room. They crawled out of their beds and looked towards the source of the sound.
After Shen Yu’an leaped out, she immediately retrieved a baseball bat from her spatial storage and held it in her hand.
With a clear target in mind, she headed towards the group of people.
Before those individuals could even comprehend what was happening, Shen Yu’an had already knocked them down to the ground.
“Bang bang bang bang bang!”
After five muffled thuds, those five people slumped to the ground, their bodies limp.
One of the individuals pointed at Shen Yu’an and slowly slid down to the ground.
The sound of them collapsing on the ground alerted those who were keeping watch in the courtyard.
They quickly pulled the blankets off themselves and rushed to the front of the room, asking, “What’s happening inside?”
However, the people inside had already passed out, so they couldn’t answer the question.
Sensing that something was wrong, the two guards directly pushed the door open and entered.
Before they could take more than a couple of steps, Shen Yu’an, who was guarding, struck one of them on the head with a bat, rendering him unconscious on the ground.
Unfortunately, the commotion had already woken up the others in the courtyard. They lit torches and rushed out to investigate.
Each of them held a stick in their hands and cornered Shen Yu’an near the door.
Yun Niang approached with graceful steps and sneered, “To think you dared to run out. Seems like you won’t realize your place until you’ve tasted some hardship.”
The group didn’t make a move, almost as if they were waiting for a signal from Yun Niang.
“Considering that you helped me back, I’ll offer you a piece of advice, young lady. Go back and stay put now. I’ll pretend like nothing happened,” Yun Niang said.
“I wouldn’t want to harm such a fine-looking vessel like yours. If it gets damaged, its value would plummet.
“Who knows, maybe we’ll be sisters under the same roof in the future. Better heed big sister’s words,” Yun Niang mockingly said.
Listening to her affected and artificial tone made Shen Yu’an feel nauseated.
She retorted, “I wouldn’t want to be sisters with the likes of you. I don’t need such shameless sisters. If you want to fight, let’s fight. Why waste time with all this nonsense?”
Yun Niang clenched her fingers in anger and said fiercely, “Get her! As long as you don’t damage her too much, you can have your fun tonight.”
The group of men leered at Shen Yu’an with disgusting expressions and said, “Hahaha, little sister, we’ll take good care of you~”
Shen Yu’an had reached her limit of disgust. She immediately charged forward, wielding the bat, and knocked the one who had said that flying with a powerful swing.
The people in the cellar, filled with worry and fear, cautiously peeked their heads out to observe the situation outside.
Seeing Shen Yu’an send two men flying with a single strike each left them in shock, their eyes widened in astonishment.
