When the young woman’s body collided with her, Shen Yu’an became aware of her intentions.
She remained calm, waiting to see what the young woman would do next.
Meanwhile, Fang Nian expressed her gratitude to Shen Yu’an and Shen Si, saying, “Thank you both for saving us. Once we shake off these people, I will make sure my father properly thanks you.”
Shen Si, without turning his head, cracked the whip, urging the ox to run faster.
“No need to thank me; it was our mistress who instructed me to stop and help you,” Shen Si replied.
Hearing Shen Si’s words, Fang Nian turned to Shen Yu’an with gratitude and offered her thanks.
However, the ox’s speed was limited, and no matter how much Shen Si whipped it, the ox couldn’t run much faster. The people chasing them from behind quickly closed the gap with the cart, and their shouts and curses reached their ears.
Originally, when the group of men saw Fang Nian and the other woman board the ox cart, they were somewhat fearful and considered stopping, but they felt it would bring bad luck. After all, losing two young women who were almost within their grasp was infuriating.
However, when they noticed that the cart was being pulled by an ox and there were only two people on it, their courage grew, and they continued chasing.

These people were after the women, and if he could delay them for a while, they probably wouldn’t harm him. He could return later once they had left.
But Shen Yu’an knew better. She knew these men wouldn’t simply give up. If she took the two young women and ran, Shen Si would be left to bear their wrath, and it could end up even worse for him.

However, when they hit the ground, the other woman ended up beneath Shen Yu’an, acting as a cushion for her fall.
This unexpected turn of events happened too suddenly for both Shen Si, who was driving the cart, and Fang Nian, who was on the cart’s yoke, to react in time.
The cart continued to move forward for a few meters before Fang Nian, in a panic, shouted, “Stop, they fell off!”
Shen Si quickly pulled on the reins to stop the cart, but it still traveled a few more meters before coming to a halt.
After falling off the cart, Shen Yu’an quickly got to her feet.
The men chasing from behind were surprised when they saw Shen Yu’an’s appearance, and their lecherous gazes almost turned into tangible desire.
“Hehe, Boss, here’s another pretty little thing, much better looking than those other two.”
The man addressed as Boss rubbed his hands together with a lecherous grin. “I’ll take this girl. You guys can have the other two.”
“Once you’re done, Boss, let us brothers have a taste of the other young ladies too.”
Shen Yu’an listened to their words with an impassive expression, only picking up on the compliments about her appearance. She regarded the rest of their words as nonsense.
However, when she thought about the woman who had fallen with her, Shen Yu’an suppressed the urge to attack and instead pretended to be frightened, shrinking back.
The woman who had fallen with Shen Yu’an listened to the men’s words and glanced at Shen Yu’an’s face. In that one look, there was both relief and jealousy.
She was relieved that the men’s attention was on Shen Yu’an, as it gave her a chance to escape.
The woman’s jealousy stemmed from the fact that the men had actually said Shen Yu’an was more attractive than her.
Slowly, she began to move backward a few steps, trying to find an opportunity to escape.
Noticing the woman’s actions, someone shouted, “Brothers, get up there, don’t let these people get away.”
The woman pointed in Shen Yu’an’s direction and loudly exclaimed, “Her, her, her! She’s the pretty one. You should just catch her.”
“Hmph, we definitely want that woman, but you’re not going anywhere either. Who knows if you’ll call for help once you escape.”
The woman quickly assured them that she wouldn’t call for help, almost swearing on it.
But even so, the men had no intention of letting her go.
She cast a glance in Shen Yu’an’s direction once more. After all, they had just pushed her down together, and now, she saw no harm in using her once more.
She narrowed her eyes and was about to push Shen Yu’an toward the group of men, but Shen Yu’an wouldn’t let her have her way. As the woman’s hands were about to touch her, Shen Yu’an shifted her body slightly to the side.
The woman had put considerable strength into her attempt to push Shen Yu’an down.
Suddenly, she found nothing to push in front of her, and she was shocked. She couldn’t control her momentum and stumbled forward.
A barely noticeable smile played on Shen Yu’an’s lips, and she calmly took two steps back.
The men quickly moved forward and restrained the woman.
“Both of you keep an eye on this woman. The rest of you come with me to catch the other one.”
The two men assigned to watch the woman lecherously touched her.
“Ah! You bastards, don’t touch me. That other woman is prettier than me. Go find her!”
The frightened woman screamed, trying to divert the trouble onto Shen Yu’an.
Meanwhile, the other group of men caught up to Shen Yu’an. Shen Si and Fang Nian also returned.
Shen Yu’an sneered, either mocking the woman for her unrepentant behavior or ridiculing the arrogance of these ruffians.
Fang Nian, being a fragile young woman, had the courage to return but was still frightened and took two steps back as she saw the menacing demeanor of the men.
Shen Si stood resolutely in front of Shen Yu’an and said, “Mistress, we’re not far from our village. You go back and get help. I’ll hold them off here.”
