Fang Chun, being of similar age to both Shen Dalang and Shen Erlang and sharing a camaraderie from their school days, found their conversation to be quite relaxed and easygoing.

After chatting for a while, Fang Chun brought up the topic of marriage for Shen Dalang and Shen Erlang.

“Do the two of you have any plans for marriage?”

Shen Erlang chuckled and replied, “Brother Fang, we’re not in a hurry; you’re asking about our marriage now?”

While Fang Chun didn’t explicitly mention that his sister was interested in Shen Dalang, he subtly hinted at it in the conversation.

“Recently, our mother has been considering potential matches for my sister and me, so I thought of asking you two.”

Shen Erlang suddenly realized and began discussing the previous instances of matchmaking for them.

“In any case, we haven’t found suitable matches yet, so my brother and I are thinking of waiting a bit longer.”

Fang Chun nodded in understanding and added, “My mother is currently looking for a husband for my younger sister. It’s not easy to find a suitable match for women, as choosing a husband means a lifetime commitment. So, I hope my sister can find a good husband.”

Shen Dalang, thinking about the polite and well-mannered young lady he had just met and the fact that she was considering potential suitors, felt a strange uneasiness and asked, “Is your younger sister looking for a husband?”

Fang Chun subtly observed Shen Dalang’s reaction. Upon hearing the question, Fang Chun decided to further stoke the fire.

“Yes, indeed. Our mother has had the matchmaker bring forward several eligible candidates who are of suitable age and have good education. She’s waiting for my sister to meet them one by one.”

Shen Dalang inquired further, “Has Miss Fang found anyone she favors among them?”

Fang Chun inwardly sighed, thinking, ‘Of course, she has someone in mind, or why would I randomly bring up her marriage?’ But, he couldn’t say that. Instead, he shook his head with a hint of disappointment and replied, “No, she hasn’t found the right one yet.”

He then looked towards the Shen brothers and continued, “Outsiders are not as thorough as you and I, who are brothers and know each other inside out. Relying solely on matchmakers’ words doesn’t guarantee a true understanding of someone’s character.”

With a playful tone, he added, “If only you, Dalang, were available. With your outstanding character and appearance, we would have nothing to worry about if my sister were to end up with someone like you.”

Shen Dalang’s face displayed a hint of discomfort, and he discreetly glanced in the direction of Shen Yu’an and Fang Nian.

Suddenly, Shen Dalang recalled the group of young ladies who had been considered for him the last time.

In comparison to those girls, Fang Nian seemed to be a better match.

Since Fang Chun had been keeping a keen eye on Shen Dalang’s reactions, he noticed some positive signs. Shen Dalang was not indifferent to his sister either.

In this case, the solution seemed simple: both parties were interested in each other. All that was needed was a little push.

Fang Chun composed himself and said seriously, “I wasn’t just making idle remarks earlier. I genuinely believe that you and my sister would be a good match. I’m just not sure how you feel about it.”

Shen Dalang pondered for a moment and decided that, given Fang Chun’s open invitation, it would be unreasonable not to respond.

With that said, they both candidly discussed the matter, agreeing to let a matchmaker facilitate the connection.

In the afternoon, the Fang siblings bid farewell to the Shen family and boarded their carriage for the return journey.

Fang Chun gazed out of the window as if there were flashes of light.

He smiled and replied, “I’ve resolved your matter. Isn’t that something to be happy about?”
