Chapter 3: The Blind Date Wanted to Marry Quickly

No wonder he had such an upright posture and an aura that ordinary people didn’t have—he turned out to be a soldier!

That also explained why he was out on a blind date. After all, Brother Soldiers were usually stationed at the base, mostly surrounded by men, and didn’t have much time to meet girls. So, they needed blind dates to find a girlfriend.

Bai Wei nodded and said: “I’m working at the post office right now. I usually write letters for people.”

Bai Wei’s voice was naturally soft and gentle. When she lowered her voice to speak, most people found her very likable.

Lu Siting was no exception. He had already heard from the matchmaker that his blind date this time was a gentle and pleasant girl—pretty, with a decent job, from a simple family, and the only child. They chatted a bit more before the dishes began to arrive.

“Is your job busy? What do you like to do in your free time?” Bai Wei asked.

“Military training, or reading. What about you?”

“I like good food. My mom’s cooking is actually really good. If there’s a chance, I must invite you to try it sometime.”

The two of them chatted while eating, asking a few simple questions. Soon, the meal was almost over.

Bai Wei had a good impression of Lu Siting as well. At least for now, he seemed to meet all her standards.

But she decided not to reveal her appetite just yet. She had to keep up the act of a refined lady. What if she scared him off?

Bai Wei only ate until she was about half full, then put down her chopsticks and dabbed her lips with a handkerchief.

The pale yellow handkerchief looked youthful as it wiped across her lips.

Lu Siting glanced at her lightly, then asked: “Miss Bai, I’m not sure if the matchmaker told you—I’m actually hoping to get married as soon as possible.”

Get married as soon as possible?

Lu Siting’s voice grew a little deeper. “Recently, my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. He may not have much time left. His greatest wish is to see me get married. To ease his mind, I told him I already have a girlfriend and that we’ll be getting married soon.”

So that was the reason.

To let his grandfather pass away in peace, he wanted to find someone quickly to reassure the old man.

It also showed that Lu Siting was a filial man.

But at that moment, Bai Wei hesitated.

Even if she had a good impression of Lu Siting and thought he seemed like a good man, she couldn’t abandon her principles just for a man.

How old was she? Just over twenty.

In her previous world, she would’ve just graduated from university. Why rush into marriage?

Besides, if his grandfather was ill and they wanted to marry quickly, wasn’t that basically a flash marriage?

Although, to be fair, he really did seem likable so far…

But Lu Siting wasn’t someone easy to fool. Bai Wei’s little thoughts were written all over her face.

“I’m sorry, Miss Bai.”

Lu Siting spoke seriously: “Actually, I have a good impression of you too. But we’ve been talking for a while, and I still don’t know what you look for in a partner. Who knows, maybe we’re actually very compatible?”
