Gather Divine Coins and Gacha!
Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! – Chapter 496

“Do you think I can handle the lower levels?”

“There are some less crowded areas, but this is a wide-open floor… It doesn’t seem like there’s a place where I can hunt even in the middle layers. In that case, I guess the lower levels ahead are my only option. But… I’ve only set foot in the lower levels once during the boss battle.”

Not entirely confident, I decided to consult Alec about it.

“The lower levels, huh… No one has ventured there since that incident. I can’t say for sure what kind of monsters will appear now that the Demon Lord-type has disappeared… But I think you can handle it. The layout of the lower levels shouldn’t be a problem for you, right?”

After pondering for a while, his answer was a cautiously optimistic “Well, you can probably manage.”

The lower levels have unstable footing, slopes, and other hazards, making it a tough hunting ground. The monsters are strong, and it’s not a place to challenge solo.

But for me, the unstable footing isn’t an issue. Also, while the lower levels are larger than the upper layers, they are divided by walls, which limit the number of monsters that can interfere. I should be able to handle it. Most importantly, the absence of other people means I have more strategic options.

“Alright then… I’ll give it a shot!”

I had fortified my defenses well enough that I shouldn’t be incapacitated by a single blow. If things get dangerous, I can always retreat to 【Hideout】.

I can do this!

“Alright. But… let’s set a time limit for now. Make sure to come back here after an hour.”

“Got it.”

Setting a time limit of one hour is reasonable; otherwise, I might get carried away. Heading to the lower levels… I need to stay sharp!

I waved at Alec and left the area, rising until I was near the ceiling. From this vantage point, I could see the middle layer. Most of the activity seemed to be centered around the middle area. It looked like they were slowly expanding deeper, using a combination of arrows for suppression and spears for engagement. While it was slower, their approach was solid.

Normally, when I encounter someone I know in the dungeon, I would cast 【Prayer】 as a parting gesture. However, this time it was a test, so I refrained. When I glanced back at Alec, he shook his head. It seemed unnecessary.

Alright then, off to the lower levels I go!

Now that I’ve arrived at the lower levels, what should I do…?

It’s my first time here since the Demon Lord-type hunt. Back then, I stuck to a support role during the journey and the battle. I only participated in proper combat when the Mantis appeared. This will be my first time fighting the monsters here head-on.

I see a group of beast-type monsters, along with a few magic-type creatures mixed in. None of the monsters here seem to be airborne yet…

“Well, well… Let’s start with some poison, shall we? Take this!”

I raised the altitude of 【Floating Orb】 and activated 【Purple Wings】. It takes some time for the effect to kick in, but it’s effective enough for this floor’s monsters. No time is wasted while I gather my thoughts.

“About 40 monsters in total. There are more deeper in, but I can’t tell the exact numbers. Should I worry about them later?”

The distance and the overlapping light spots make it hard to discern through the serpentine eyes. While using 【Fairy’s Eye】 would improve visibility, doing so might provoke monsters capable of using magic that could damage me. Since I’m alone, I need to tread carefully.

Poison, poison everywhere.

“Ugh, an Ogre herd? Descending further looks risky… Whoa!?”

A flying rock came my way, but I dodged just in time. That was close…

While wandering the hall spreading poison, I noticed that the monsters here were heavy hitters. The walls leave gaps that allow monsters from adjacent halls to come through if you get too close. So, I couldn’t cover the perimeter, but I’ve mostly identified the monsters in this hall.

The beast-type monsters, mainly wolf species, formed several groups supporting each other. Goblins were mixed in, with larger monsters like Ogres and Giant Boars waiting in the back. If this were outside, the groups might compete for resources, but in the dungeon, they cooperated regardless of their predator-prey relationships.

If I targeted the smaller monsters, the larger ones would charge from the back. Conversely, focusing on the larger ones would prompt the smaller ones to surround me. I don’t have the overwhelming power to sweep them all away.

“Ah… it’s starting to take effect.”

I checked my timer: about 20 minutes had passed. The poison had started affecting the smaller monsters like Goblins and Wolves. Some were staggering, while others collapsed.

Perfect.

Taking on the monsters here head-on would be too dangerous for me. Picking off incapacitated ones with poison is the safest approach. Don’t call me a coward. With my fragile body, challenging these monsters is already reckless.
