The sound of rain pounding against the roof echoed throughout the mansion.
It was the third day since the rainy season had begun.
As always, the continuous heavy rain stretched from day to night… At least, there wouldn’t be any concerns about water shortages until next year’s spring rainy season.
While the city continued its expansion projects, it also maintained proper upkeep of its waterways, preventing any flooding.
Peaceful, as it should be.
If something major had happened, I might have been the one forced to intervene.
As I gazed out the window, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Liesel and the administrative officials of the capital—
“I’m bored.”
Seriana, seated on the sofa in the office, muttered softly.
She was originally supposed to be busy with various tasks during the rainy season, but it seemed she had skillfully persuaded the wives of the commercial guild executives, successfully reducing her workload significantly.
From what I’d heard, she had granted permits for food stalls—or rather, small outdoor eateries—along the main street in front of the Adventurers’ Guild.
This city was divided into various zones based on occupation, such as the Adventurers’ District, the Commercial District, and the Artisans’ District, with strict boundaries to prevent interference between trades.
However, thanks to Seriana’s mediation, these divisions had been slightly relaxed.
Adventurers returning from the dungeon could grab a drink or two and have a light meal before heading deeper into the city.
This also addressed the frequent complaints about the taverns and restaurants being too far away from the Adventurers’ District.
Adventurers could now eat and drink more conveniently, the commercial guild members could better direct customers, and under the pretense of maintaining order among the drunkards, the First Division could patrol the area more frequently.
Moreover, since Seriana had personally taken the initiative, the responsibility of dealing with merchants from outside the city had been shifted onto the commercial guild.
In short, everyone benefitted.
As a result, her schedule had completely opened up.
Yesterday and the day before, she had woken up around the same time as me.
We even had breakfast together, which was quite a rare occurrence.
After that, she spent the day in casual clothes instead of her usual formal attire, wearing only light makeup—fully in off-duty mode.
But today was different.
Accustomed to a busy lifestyle and naturally serious by nature, she seemed unable to relax and had been restless since early morning.
Since she was taking time off, she had also given leave to the servants working in the southern wing, meaning she was handling various tasks herself.
She had even prepared her own outfit and meal, and after I sluggishly got up, she had helped me get ready too—leading us to the present moment.
“Seria-sama, isn’t it a bit early to be getting bored?”
It was just the two of us in the room.
Was she just talking to herself, or was she implying that I should do something?
“I can’t help it…”
“…I feel like we’ve had a similar conversation before. Want to wander around the mansion again? I can lend you 【Floating Orb】.”
Although we lived here, the places we usually moved through were quite limited.
If she had nothing to do, taking a look around wouldn’t be a bad idea.
The mansion was vast, making it quite a hassle to explore on foot, but with 【Floating Orb】 and 【Small Orb】, it would be effortless.
However, she didn’t seem satisfied with my suggestion, her face still full of discontent.
“Even if I look around the mansion… Hmm…”
As if something had come to mind, she looked up at me with an amused smile.
What was she planning now?
“You, go outside.”
“…Huh?”
It’s raining like crazy out there, you know?
“What, you don’t want to?”
“Of course, I don’t…”
I rarely ever stepped off 【Floating Orb】 just to avoid getting my feet dirty.
Sure, I could just wear shoes, but that was a separate issue.
Even with an umbrella, the rain wasn’t just falling straight down—stepping outside would mean getting drenched.
I didn’t want to get wet.
“Oh? But you have a blessing, don’t you?”
“Huh?”
Seriana stated this as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, making me tilt my head in confusion.
◇
In the pouring rain, I floated around effortlessly using 【Floating Orb】, completely unarmed.
Yet, not a single drop of water touched me.
“…Wow, I didn’t expect this to work. I never even considered it.”
【Wind Cloak】—my personal blessing.
When activated, it repelled external attacks and even shielded me from wind pressure at high speeds.
But I never imagined it would also deflect falling rain.
…Was it reacting to whether I found something unpleasant?
If Seriana hadn’t pointed it out, I might never have realized it.
After all, whenever it rained, I just stayed indoors.
“I’m back! Man, I didn’t get wet at all! That was surprising!”
“That’s excellent. Then, you’re good to go.”
After making a lap around the southern wing, I returned to Seriana’s room, only to find her already changed from her skirt into a riding outfit.
Well, I doubted anyone would be looking up at her in this weather, but as the wife of a feudal lord, she probably shouldn’t be showing her legs so freely.
“Aah… but…”
That said, not everything was perfect.
It seemed that raindrops were also classified as attacks, which meant they couldn’t penetrate my wind barrier.
However, something about it felt off.
【Wind Cloak】 responded to my will, just like 【Floating Orb】.
Maybe that’s why?
There was a slight, unintended movement in my barrier.
Wouldn’t it be difficult to adjust this while using 【Small Orb】 at the same time?
