The news that the alliance side had secured victory and the war was over began spreading through the city a few days after it had already reached the office… or so they say.
I haven’t been out into the city lately.
I’ve completely lost touch with the rumors circulating around town.
Well… not that I was ever particularly well-informed to begin with!
Seriana didn’t make any public announcement when she received the report from the messenger because the details were unclear, and she figured it wasn’t worth going out of her way. But it’s not like she told anyone to keep it a secret.
Judging from how the rumor spread this time, it probably came through the servants, huh?
It was likely passed from the servants to their families in the Merchant Guild, and from there to the townspeople… something like that.
Adventurers might be a bit outside that chain of communication, but maybe someone in the 2nd Unit passed it on.
We still don’t know the details, but one thing is certain: everyone returned safely and with a victory, and that much was clearly conveyed.
Maybe that’s why the workload for the lord has started increasing again lately, and Seriana seems really busy.
Of course, she’s also working in parallel on re-evaluating organizational intelligence, which she’s been handling since a while back… it’s a lot.
And yet, she looks like she’s enjoying herself… at this point, maybe there’s just no helping it.
I’m a little worried she’s overworking herself, but since Elena and Teresa are assisting her, maybe it’ll be okay if we leave it to them?
By the way, I already finished my work for today.
As usual, I’ve been helping out in the underground lab making potions.
Since there haven’t been any hunting opportunities lately, this probably seems like the most useful thing I can do right now.
I still can’t handle the final steps, but I’m already at the point where I can do the prep work on my own.
I just keep picking up little tricks…
“Sera.”
“Hm? What is it?”
I was lounging around lazily in the office while everyone else was busy working, but at Seriana’s voice, I sat up and headed over to her.

The task Seriana asked me to do was maintenance on the lights mounted on top of the city wall.
But it wasn’t anything complicated—just swapping out the magic crystals that power the magic tools, something I already help out with at the mansion whenever I have free time.
These lights were newly installed around summer, and rather than illuminating the surroundings, they serve more like lighthouses, as markers.
Since the dungeon appeared, more people have started going out at night, so it’s probably to prevent them from getting lost or encountering any incidents.
The magic crystals used in the city wall lights are slightly larger than marbles, and apparently, a single one can last almost a year. But some of them end up being duds with subpar performance.
That’s one way this differs from industrial products in my previous life.
Unfortunately, one of the crystals used for the lighting had apparently burned out.
So they decided to swap them all out together with ones that had passed a performance check.
It’s a bold move, but since I’m the one doing it, it’ll be done quickly, and there’s no longer any need to avoid the church district.
So here I am, flying all around the city.
“Ooooh… the holes are all filled in now, huh… I guess they’re about ready to start building stuff?”
Looking down from above the church district, I saw that the once-pitted area had been completely filled in.
I haven’t been here recently either, so I still had the old image in mind, but the site where work had been ongoing is now nicely leveled.
There’s still some equipment left behind for leveling the ground, so I guess there’s a little more work to do, but the rubble has all been cleared away.
Previously, only soldiers from the Knight Order had been doing the work, but now, there are almost no soldiers in sight.
Instead, I see lots of artisans probably sent from the Merchant Guild.
They’re carrying in lumber, stretching ropes over the construction sites, and working busily.
I don’t know exactly what they’ll be building, but judging from the layouts, it looks like they’ll be constructing some standard rectangular buildings.
Well, it’s not like this town has any particularly daring architecture, so I suppose they’ll stick to the basics.
That said, it seems like they’re only putting up two buildings in that space, so they’ll probably be on a pretty large scale.
In contrast, the church is… in rough shape.
They’re planning to leave the church as it is, and apparently won’t be placing any particular restrictions on people who want to use it, but… it’s just plain shabby.
When they began dismantling and removing the underground facilities, I flew around the church area checking things out, and from that time until now, the church itself hasn’t changed at all…
Back then, there were still other buildings nearby, so it managed to maintain some sense of dignity despite its condition, but now, everything else has been cleared out and the church stands all alone.
The church is fairly large, but with nothing surrounding it—not even a fence—it just stands there, isolated… and pitiful.
Maybe I should fund a little renovation myself?
I hear the personnel inside can be replaced, and the influence of the Holy Nation of Medallia will fade.
If that’s the case, there shouldn’t be any problem with me getting involved.
It’s not like I have any use for my money anyway!
“…Whoops, not good. I’ve gotta get back to work.”
Something about coming here just gets me thinking about all sorts of things.
I better finish up this job quickly.

Holy Nation of Medallia?
More like “Meddle-ia with things you shouldn’t!”
