Chapter 1: My Daddy’s Name is Ou Zichen
Around ten in the morning, a red taxi stopped in front of the Ou Corporation building. A little girl and an Alaskan Malamute got out of the car.
“Wow… This building is so tall! Tangyuan, look! This is my Daddy’s company!”
“Woof woof…” The Alaskan Malamute responded to its little owner. Its name was Tangyuan, a name given by the girl herself, and it absolutely loved it.
“Come on… Let’s go inside!”
As soon as the little girl and Tangyuan entered the lobby, they immediately attracted a lot of attention.
The little girl wore a denim overall dress, her soft and fine long hair draped over her shoulders. On her head, two shiny butterfly-shaped hair clips sparkled under the light. She carried a small yellow duck backpack on her back.
Her entire outfit, coupled with her naturally beautiful looks, made her appear irresistibly cute. Anyone who saw her would want to pick her up and give her a kiss.
Tangyuan was also dressed in a denim outfit. Its chubby, fluffy body followed closely beside the girl, making them a pair of absolute charmers.
People around started whispering to one another.
“Whose daughter is this? She’s so adorable!”
“Look at her big eyes and those long, curled lashes—she looks just like a real-life Barbie doll!”
“And that dog beside her is super cute! This duo is practically melting hearts!”
The little girl, unaware of the murmurs around her, walked straight to the front desk with Tangyuan.
The front desk receptionist, a young woman, had naturally noticed the eye-catching pair. Seeing them approach, she spoke gently before the little girl even had a chance to say anything.
“Little sister, how can I help you?”
This Big Sister was so beautiful, so polite, and even spoke so gently! No wonder she was an employee at Daddy’s company!
“Pretty Big Sister, I’m here to find my Daddy…” the little girl answered in her sweet, childlike voice.
Find her Daddy? Could her father be one of the company’s executives?
Curiosity instantly surged in the receptionist’s heart. She was eager to know which fortunate leader had such an adorable and beautiful daughter.
“You’re looking for your Daddy? Then tell Big Sister your Daddy’s name, and I’ll help you contact him!”
The little girl thought for a moment before speaking a name.
“My Daddy’s name is Ou Zichen!”
“What?” The front desk receptionist let out a shocked exclamation, unable to believe what she had just heard. She asked again in disbelief: “Little sister, what did you just say your Daddy’s name was? Big Sister didn’t hear clearly. Can you say it again?”
“Ou Zichen! My Daddy is the president of this company!”
This time, she spoke loudly and clearly, even emphasizing that her Daddy was the company’s president. Surely, Big Sister had heard her properly now!
The receptionist heard her loud and clear—but she still couldn’t believe it!
Ou Zichen, the president of Ou Corporation, was a famously eligible bachelor. He had never been married, nor did he have a girlfriend. Everyone in Bincheng knew this. And now, out of nowhere, a daughter had appeared? It was simply unbelievable!
“Little sister, are you sure you didn’t remember your Daddy’s name wrong? Our president isn’t married yet, so he shouldn’t have a child.”
She simply couldn’t believe that this adorable little girl in front of her was the president’s daughter. The only reasonable explanation was that the child had mistaken someone else for her father.
After all, she looked to be only four or five years old. A child that young mixing up a name—well, that seemed logical enough!
The little girl had expected this reaction. Fortunately, she had come prepared. She reached into her small yellow duck backpack and pulled out her personal iPad. After searching for a specific photo, she held it up to the receptionist.
“Big Sister, is this your president, Ou Zichen?”
The receptionist glanced at the photo, nodded slightly in confusion, and wondered what the little girl meant. Everyone in the company knew what their president looked like!
“Then that’s it! That means Ou Zichen is my Daddy!” the little girl declared in her sweet but firm voice.
The receptionist felt like crying. What kind of logic was this? Just because she had a photo of the president didn’t automatically make her his daughter! Besides, Ou Zichen often appeared on TV and magazine covers. Finding a picture of him online was hardly difficult, so…
She still didn’t believe it!
“Big Sister, do you not believe what I’m saying? Do you think I’m just a little liar?” The little girl tilted her head, watching the receptionist with her big, round, innocent eyes. She looked so adorable that it made the receptionist hesitate.
If she said yes, wouldn’t she hurt the little girl’s feelings? And what if she started crying?
After a moment of thought, the receptionist carefully chose her words. “No, no! Big Sister isn’t saying she doesn’t believe you… It’s just… Big Sister hasn’t quite figured it out yet!”
What she had originally meant to say was that it was impossible—but when the words reached her lips, she softened them. The little girl was just too cute. She couldn’t bear to break her heart!
Hearing the receptionist’s response, the little girl sighed internally. She had explained it so clearly, yet this pretty Big Sister still didn’t get it. Looks like her IQ isn’t very high…
If the receptionist knew she was being looked down upon by a four- or five-year-old, would she feel so embarrassed that she’d want to dig a hole and crawl inside?
It seemed that unless she explained things even more clearly, this Big Sister at the front desk would never believe her!
So, the little girl once again raised her iPad, pointing her fair little finger at Ou Zichen’s photo.
“Big Sister, look at this photo again, then look at me. Don’t we look exactly alike? If I weren’t my Daddy’s daughter, how could I possibly resemble him so much?”
She remembered that when she had asked her Mommy who her Daddy was, her Mommy had simply said that she didn’t know. She hadn’t explained anything else, and at the time, her young and innocent self had believed her without question.
But one day, she had accidentally seen an interview with Ou Zichen on TV. She had stared at the screen in confusion, thinking, Why does this man look so much like me?
Then she had recalled something Auntie from next door had once told her: Boys usually look like their Mommy, and girls look like their Daddy.
Even through the TV screen, she had felt a strange sense of familiarity with Ou Zichen. At that moment, she had been absolutely certain—this man was her Daddy!
The receptionist listened to the little girl’s words, then looked at the photo again, and finally at the little girl.
To her astonishment, the resemblance was undeniable! Their eyebrows, eyes, nose, and lips all looked exactly alike, as if they had been carved from the same mold!
When she had first seen the little girl, she had felt a vague sense of familiarity but hadn’t been able to place it. But now, after hearing this explanation, everything clicked into place.
Could it be that this little girl was really the president’s biological daughter?
