Chapter 20: Moving to the New House
“Xiuhua, let’s pack up first. After we move into the new house, I’ll explain everything to you slowly. Xiao Wang is still waiting outside; don’t make him wait too long!”
Hearing Sun Dahai say this, Yang Xiuhua didn’t ask any more questions and immediately went into the bedroom to pack.
Since the house was rented, most of the furniture and appliances were owned by the landlord. So, there wasn’t much to pack—just some personal clothes.
In about ten minutes, they had packed everything. Yang Xiuhua looked at the house they had lived in for over a year, feeling a bit reluctant. She asked Sun Dahai: “Will we never come back here again?”
“Probably not.” he replied. “I believe our life will keep getting better from now on, so we need to look ahead. Let’s go…”
Yang Xiuhua and Sun Dahai carried their bags and walked out. The driver, Xiao Wang, immediately opened the trunk and helped them load their things.
“Xiao Wang, this is my wife!”
“Hello, Mrs. Factory Manager!”
Xiao Wang greeted Yang Xiuhua politely. She didn’t understand why he called her that, but she simply nodded in response.
“Hi… Hello!”
After about a forty-minute drive, they finally arrived at the community where Yang Xiuhua and Sun Dahai would be living—the Happiness Garden community.
This community was huge, with a nearby market, schools, a hospital, and convenient transportation. It was considered a mid-to-high-end community.
Xiao Wang drove straight into the underground parking garage. From there, they took the elevator up to the 16th floor.
Xiao Wang opened the door, helped them move their things inside, and then handed the keys to Sun Dahai. He said to them: “Factory Manager, Mrs. Factory Manager, you can rest well today. I’ll come to pick you up tomorrow morning to report to the factory!”
“Xiao Wang, thank you for your hard work!” Sun Dahai said.
After Xiao Wang left, Yang Xiuhua walked around the house, unable to believe what she was seeing. She pinched Sun Dahai’s arm and asked: “Does it hurt?”
Sun Dahai nodded: “It hurts…”
“Oh yay… so I’m not dreaming. We’re really in this big and beautiful house!” Yang Xiuhua cheered, her voice full of excitement.
Sun Dahai was a bit speechless. If he wanted to know if he was dreaming, he should pinch himself, not have her do it. But seeing her so happy, he didn’t want to argue.
He put his arm around her shoulders and asked: “Xiuhua, do you like it here?”
Yang Xiuhua nodded enthusiastically. She liked it… she loved it! She had always thought she wasn’t lucky enough to live in such a nice house, but now, finally, she was moving into this dream home. It felt surreal.
“By the way, why did Xiao Wang call you ‘Factory Manager’? What’s going on?” she asked.
“We met a benefactor today!!!” Sun Dahai replied.
He told Yang Xiuhua everything about how Su Jianfeng came to find him that morning. After hearing the story, Yang Xiuhua was so moved that she hugged Sun Dahai tightly and, with tears in her voice, said: “Honey, our hard times are finally over… finally, they’re over…”
“Yeah, Xiuhua, these years you’ve suffered with me. It’s all my fault, I’ve been useless, and I’ve let you and our son down!” Sun Dahai said, feeling guilty as he thought of the hardships Yang Xiuhua had gone through with him.
“Don’t blame yourself, it’s not your fault. You’ve worked so hard. If anyone’s suffered, it’s you. You’ve been working overtime just to earn a little extra money. Every time I see how exhausted you are, my heart hurts so much.” Yang Xiuhua said.
To earn more money, Sun Dahai often worked overtime, even when he was sick. Once, he even fainted from exhaustion, which made Yang Xiuhua cry out of worry. She begged him not to push himself so hard in the future, afraid that his body wouldn’t be able to handle it.
“It’s all in the past now. Our lives are going to get better. I won’t let you and our son suffer anymore!” Sun Dahai reassured her.
“Mm!”
Yang Xiuhua felt that their luck had really turned around recently. First, Zhao Jiaying had found her real father, and now, Sun Dahai had landed such a great job. It seemed like all the good things were happening to them.
“Do you know who recommended you to President Ou?”
Yang Xiuhua was curious about who had been kind enough to recommend such a great job for Sun Dahai.
“I’m not really sure. Assistant Su didn’t say. That day, when you came back from visiting Yingbao, didn’t you say her daddy’s family is very big and wealthy? Do you think my getting this great job opportunity is related to Yingbao?” Sun Dahai suggested.
This was the only possibility he could think of, because Zhao Jiaying had always been a little lucky star, bringing good fortune wherever she went. And this had all happened after she returned to her real father’s house, so it seemed like a strong possibility.
“Then how about I call Yingbao for a video chat and ask her? I’ll also tell her about your job and us moving.”
“Okay, okay…”
Yang Xiuhua took out her phone and checked the time. Zhao Jiaying should be available at this time because every day at this hour, Zhao Jiaying would be on her iPad studying. This was a task that her mommy, Zhao Yunxi, had assigned to her before she went abroad.
Zhao Jiaying, the genius little girl with an IQ of 210, didn’t need anyone to teach her. She had always been self-taught. At less than four years old, she could easily solve elementary school-level Chinese and math problems. She even had a special nickname: the Super Little Computer. She had an exceptional memory and could remember things she had seen just once, instantly storing them in her little brain.
Yang Xiuhua directly initiated a video call, and it quickly connected. Zhao Jiaying’s cute face appeared on the screen with her crisp, clear voice.
“Auntie, Uncle Dahai!”
Yang Xiuhua asked: “Yingbao, what are you doing?”
Zhao Jiaying replied: “Yingbao is finishing the task Mommy gave me! Auntie, Uncle Dahai, where are you?”
Through the video screen, Zhao Jiaying saw them in an unfamiliar place and couldn’t help but ask.
Yang Xiuhua smiled and said: “Yingbao, Auntie just wanted to tell you that your Uncle Dahai and I have moved. This is our new home!”
Zhao Jiaying’s eyes widened in surprise. “Auntie and Uncle Dahai moved to a big house?”
Through the video, Zhao Jiaying could see that the house they were in was very large and beautiful.
Yang Xiuhua happily nodded: “Yes, this place is big and beautiful!”
When Yang Xiuhua talked about their new house, she couldn’t hide her joy.
Zhao Jiaying clapped her hands in excitement. “That’s great! Auntie and Uncle Dahai finally have a big house! Yingbao is so happy!”
Just yesterday, Lin Zhenzhu had promised to help Yang Xiuhua and her family, and now, they had moved into a big house. Zhao Jiaying immediately thanked Lin Zhenzhu a hundred times in her heart: Great-grandma is awesome!
Sun Dahai: “Yingbao, I heard from your Auntie that you found your biological daddy. Uncle Dahai is so happy for you!”
Zhao Jiaying: “Hmm! Thank you, Uncle Dahai!”
Sun Dahai: “Yingbao, can you tell Uncle Dahai what your daddy’s name is?”
He wanted to know if this job was somehow related to Yingbao.
Zhao Jiaying: “My daddy’s name is Ou Zichen, Uncle Dahai, what’s the matter?”
Sun Dahai: “Nothing, Uncle Dahai was just asking… asking casually!”
He handed the phone back to Yang Xiuhua and took out his own phone to do a quick search. Soon, he discovered that the president of Ou Corporation was Ou Zichen, which meant that Zhao Jiaying’s biological daddy was indeed the president. It seemed that the great job and the nice house he had gotten were all thanks to Zhao Jiaying!
