Chapter 29: Clearing Things Up with Yang Xiaoyun  

Yang Xiaoyun had been running from the villa for a while but still hadn’t heard Ou Zichen chasing after her. She started to worry—why wasn’t he coming after her? Slowing her pace, she deliberately waited.  

Soon enough, Ou Zichen’s voice rang out behind her.  

“Xiaoyun, wait!”  

Yang Xiaoyun’s heart leaped with joy. So, he did care about her! This risky move of hers had paid off.  

Ou Zichen quickly caught up to her. Yang Xiaoyun kept up her act, wiping at imaginary tears as she said in a pitiful voice,  

“Zichen, you don’t have to worry about me. Just let me be alone to calm down.”  

She turned to leave, but Ou Zichen stepped in front of her, blocking her path.  

“Xiaoyun, there’s something I need to make clear to you.”  

Yang Xiaoyun assumed he was about to explain things, and her heart filled with excitement. With a shy expression, she said,  

“Okay, go ahead.”

“Yingbao is my biological daughter. I only found out about this not long ago. At first, I couldn’t believe it was true, but we did a paternity test, and it confirmed that she is indeed my flesh and blood. Although I don’t know how she came into being, during the time I spent with her, she brought so much joy to our family. I have grown to like her more and more. I even feel incredibly fortunate to have such a lovely daughter. I have already missed the first few years of her growth, so from now on, I want to make it up to her and be by her side as she grows. There’s something I must make clear to you. We have spent some time together, and honestly, I feel that we are not suitable for each other. There is no need to waste any more time…”

Upon hearing Ou Zichen’s words, Yang Xiaoyun immediately panicked. She grabbed his hand and said emotionally: “Zichen, what did I do wrong? Tell me! I can change for you!”

For Yang Xiaoyun, Ou Zichen having a child was not the biggest issue. What she feared most was losing Ou Zichen, losing this strong and powerful pillar of support.

“This is not about whether you care or not.” Ou Zichen said. “What matters most is my daughter. From what just happened, it’s clear that my daughter does not like you. I do not want her to feel uncomfortable or wronged in any way. I hope you can understand my feelings as a father.”

Ou Zichen was not using Zhao Jiaying as an excuse to reject Yang Xiaoyun—this was genuinely how he felt. Now that he had acknowledged Zhao Jiaying as his daughter, he was determined to cherish and spoil her, never allowing her to suffer any grievances.

From initially refusing to accept Zhao Jiaying as his daughter to now making her his priority in everything, considering her feelings before anything else, it was evident—little Yingbao had successfully captured her CEO daddy’s heart!

“Zichen, I won’t let your daughter suffer. I know she might not like me right now, but I will try my best. I will make sure she grows to like me. Please, just give me a chance, okay?”

As long as Ou Zichen was willing to give her a chance and be with her, it didn’t matter what she had to do to win Zhao Jiaying’s affection. Once her position was secured in the future, dealing with Zhao Jiaying could wait.

The reason Ou Zichen was so certain that Zhao Jiaying would never like Yang Xiaoyun was because he knew that Zhao Jiaying already had a great Mommy. Her real Mommy was still around—if she actually wanted another woman to take that place, then there were only two possibilities: either she was foolish, or there was something wrong with her.
