Japan, Mori Town.
In the early morning, a gentlemanly dressed infant sat on the elevator sill, a small table set with a cup of coffee. He didn’t drink it; instead, he answered a phone call, the lowered brim of his hat casting a shadow over his face. A green lizard lay dormant atop his tall hat, its cold beastly eyes no longer displaying their usual cute demeanor, appearing more like its master.
“Okay, Feng Tai has been caught. So… Rikudo Gaiki went to Yokohama?”
After ending the call, Reborn placed his customized mini-phone on the table and took a sip of his coffee.
“Mhm, there was a sudden downpour yesterday.”
The inner thoughts of the world’s current top assassin were speechless.
The person who was supposed to spar with his disciple ran away?
Throughout history, each leader of the Penggerei clan would have six core family members known as guardians before ascending, each guardian distinguished by personality and power attributes. Currently, the guardians within the scope of assessment included Hayato Rokudo of the Guardian of Storm, Takeo Yamamoto of the Guardian of Rain, Taira Sasakawa of the Guardian of Sunshine, and Kyohei Hibari of the Guardian of Clouds. All of them were students from Bingsei Town and had close ties with Sawada Tsunayo.
Unless there were any surprises, the ancestors of these individuals were related to the first-generation Penggerei family, with deep bloodline connections and the innate power to ignite the flames of death.
Time was running out, and the Penggerei family urgently needed a tenth-generation leader. They were still missing the most difficult to find, the Guardian of Mist, and the minimum requirement for the Guardian of Mist was someone proficient in illusion arts. Considering Sawada Tsunayo was only fourteen this year, for better communication, the age gap with the leader couldn’t be too large.
Reborn was a perfectionist; the talent the Penggerei family needed had to be among the world’s top-notch individuals. There was only one illusionist who caught his eye and was of the right age.
—The Six Paths from Italy.
Their potential exceeded even Mamon, uninterested in wealth, unafraid of death, and possessing exceptional talent. If he could win them over, perhaps he could obtain the legendary “phantom praised as an entity beyond capture.”
“Phantoms, huh…” Reborn finished his coffee, then extended his hand, and the lizard crawled onto his finger, beginning to transform. “Without the sky’s embrace, where would mist find a place to exist?”
A large hammerhead emerged among his short and cute fingers, aimed at the boy sleeping soundly on the bed.
“Wake up, stupid Tsuna!”
“Ouch, aaaaahhhhhhhhh—!!!”
The next moment, there was a piercing scream from the second floor of the Sawada residence.
During breakfast, Tsunayo rubbed his sore head, half-asleep, half-awake, hearing Reborn talking to his mother, resembling a true head of the household. “Mom, Tsuna’s school is having an early summer break in July. They assigned a task to visit Yokohama, so we might be going there in a few days.”
Yokohama? Since when did the school have an early break?
Tsunayo blinked his bewildered eyes, trying to soften the speaker’s heart.
However, Reborn’s baby-like demeanor and his heart of steel ignored him coldly, focusing on talking to Nana Sawada. Nana expressed her support, then raised her finger, remembering something. “I heard Yokohama’s a bit chaotic. The neighbors said not to go there, huh?”
Reborn playfully replied, “Don’t worry, Tsuna’s dad used the money from oil drilling to hire bodyguards.”
Nana laughed and went to check on her son, who was wearing a mournful expression.
“What’s wrong with Tsuna?”
Immediately, Reborn’s deathly stare fixated on Tsunayo.
Tsunayo trembled and said, “As long as the school’s having an early break, I have no objections.”
What a joke!
The price of defying this Spartan-like, cruel little infant was worse than death!
At the dining table, Ranpo and Ippei were still playing around, the two children easing the tense atmosphere. Reborn’s expression softened, temporarily bypassing Tsunayo’s gloomy face.
Suddenly, Ranpo was defeated by Ippei and attempted to pull out a weapon.
Reborn abruptly shouted, “Ranpo! Hasn’t anyone from your family warned you? You’re not allowed to use the Ten-Year Bazooka on yourself or those around you.”
Ranpo, with his pink cannon still not drawn, looked confused. “I think they did mention something…”
He quickly stuffed it back in.
Ippei, the assassin in training, tilted his head. “Why can’t Ranpo use weapons?”
Ranpo, with a mouthful of candy, replied, “Ranpo doesn’t know. It’s not allowed at home. Heard someone died from it.”
After Nana went to the kitchen, Biyangqi, known as the “Poison Scorpion,” cleared the plates for Reborn, casually commenting, “The Ten-Year Bazooka of the Vongola Family has now become a deadly weapon, hasn’t it?”
Reborn responded indifferently, “Those hit by the Ten-Year Bazooka will soon develop a large hole in their body that neither bleeds nor hurts, containing toxins. Essentially, it’s a death sentence. And those fortunate enough to survive have reported feeling palpitations, as if some danger is approaching through the space-time channel.”
Ranpo didn’t care about the headaches these adults were facing, muttering, “I’ve only used it once, saw people from ten years later. They told me not to use this weapon again unless it’s against enemies.”
The incident occurred several months ago…
This matter caused a stir within both the Penggerei and Vongola families. The Penggerei Family’s Penggerei Rings, which controlled the longitudinal time axis, constituted a third of the foundation of the world’s cornerstone seven. Theoretically, those protected by the Penggerei Family were similar to being protected by time itself.
The proud time weapon of the Vongola Family had turned into a terrifying murder weapon.
They speculated that an unknowable change had occurred in this world.
“Ranpo, did they mention any other warnings?” This was Reborn’s first time inquiring about future events. Ranpo proudly straightened his chest, wracking his brains to recall, sweat beading on his forehead.
