“You’re going to accept the request to defeat the ancient dragon? I can’t possibly allow that!”

The receptionist said that when we brought the request for defeating the ancient dragon.

“I just can’t believe someone from Iron Class will take this request!”

This place was the remote region of this kingdom, the Principality of Arakia. It was the borderland of a borderland. Knights didn’t usually come to a place like this. The people here didn’t know about us. 

Alaine-san was the strongest knight captain of all time and I was the only one who could stand a match against her. If there was something that the two of us couldn’t beat then it was impossible for anyone else to be able to do it. 

“…….. What should we do?”

“Right. Well… I still want to try fighting it for a bit though.”

“Same. Then let’s give up on trying to accept the request. Let’s just fight it like normal. We can sell the materials we get to make money anyway.”

“……… Hm. You’re right.”

Me and Alaine-san turned our backs on the receptionist and started walking to the exit. 

“Please wait a moment! We just can’t watch and let you fight it!”

“It’s not a problem to you though? Just a bunch of reckless idiots going to die. Ah, but if we can defeat it, will we still get the request’s reward?”

“Oi! Oi! Oi!”

As we were talking with the receptionist, a male adventurer who had been drinking alcohol came approaching us. 

“You. You want to fight an ancient dragon? Are you stupid? Huh? Don’t you get carried away, you hear me?”

OOOH!!

I inwardly cheered. 

I’m getting into a fight with an adventurer! I’m so super happy!! Here comes the isekai fantasy stereotype!!!

……….But this is not the time to be doing this. 

It’d be dangerous if Alaine lost her temper. Before, there was a knight who picked a fight with me. He grabbed me by the collar and ended up losing his arm instead. I couldn’t let that tragedy happen again. I needed to make my move this time. 

“Hm.”

I swung my arm. 

Froze.

The floor of the adventurers’ guild, except from this area, the one where Alaine was standing, was frozen. 

“Wha-?!”

Having his legs frozen and being unable to move all of a sudden, that one adventurer stopped dead in his tracks awkwardly. He let out a startled cry. 

“Thank you for the warning.”

I smiled at that one adventurer. While the way he said it might be rude, this guy was actually trying to give us a warning with good intention in his heart. I guess he just couldn’t stand still watching his junior dying in vain. A lot of adventurers were violent and bad but not all of them necessarily had an evil heart. 

“But that warning is unnecessary for us. I’m sorry about that.”

I snapped my fingers once. 

SHATTER

The ice shattered, making a high-pitched noise. The shattered ice crystals were shining, reflecting the light before it started to fall onto the floor and disappeared. 

“Then shall we go?”

“Hm.”

Me and Alaine left the guild, leaving the people around us who were still standing dumbfounded at the sudden turn of events.
