Chapter 54

My field of vision opened. After the blackout, I was greeted with the sight of a cave somewhere. I didn’t know for sure where the light came from but for some reason the cave was illuminated by a faint glow of light. 

“This place is….?’

I was standing in a place I had absolutely no recollection of. I inclined my head to the side, trying to get a grasp of the situations up to now. 

If I’m not wrong, I defeated the evil god… Killed Camilla …. And then the evil god’s body….

Vsssh…. Vsssshh…

….Ouch.

I grimaced at the sudden headache that swooped down on me. And then, maybe because of the lack of sleep, I tumbled down right here and there. 

“Ueh…..”

I don’t know which one is the front and which one is the back… Right now, I….

“Aaah….”

Despite that, I somehow managed to stand up. 

“Phew… Haah…..”

I took a deep breath, trying to catch my breath and calmed myself down. I was still feeling sluggish because of lack of sleep and I still couldn’t really determine if I was going forward or backward but in any case, I needed to escape from my current situation.

Walk…… Go forward.

I walked because for some reason I felt like I had to continue walking. 

Thud thud

In this quiet cave, only the sound of my footsteps could be heard. 

“Oh?”

After walking mindlessly for a while, I could finally see a light coming through the cave. It wasn’t the soft glow that illuminated the cave but a bright beam of light. 

“Ugh…”

I left the cave and at the same time, I closed my eyes for a moment because of the sudden burst of sunshine. 

“Aaah….”

I was greeted with another sight. Not the sight of that dreary, dark cave. No. I was welcomed by the sight of a magnificent field, glittering due to the bright sunlight shining upon it. The greenery continued on as far as my eyes could see. 

“Ah….”

As I looked around, I could see it reflected in my eyes. Red fruits, on short trees that were about as big as roadside trees. Red fruits that were shining suspiciously. 

“AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”

I lost control of myself and ran. 

Eat.

I don’t know why. I don’t understand why but I have to eat it. 

That delicious thing. 

It was an instinctive desire that was carved in my mind. There was nothing else similar to this feeling. 

“Thank you for the food.”

I held the red fruit over my mouth.
