Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Jumping into the River to Commit Suicide

“Help! Someone come quick! The Wang family’s daughter has jumped into the river to commit suicide!”

A scream shattered the tranquil mountain village.

Inside a thatched house, a middle-aged woman looked at the pale-faced young girl lying on the bed, tears streaming down her face. “This foolish child, why… why, couldn’t she see another way?”

“Mother, I want my mother!” The woman held a three-year-old child in her arms, struggling to get down.

“Good boy Xiao Bao, Mother is not feeling well and needs to rest. Once Mother feels better, she can play with you,” the middle-aged woman’s voice choked up.

The doctor said that if the daughter doesn’t wake up tonight, they should start preparing for the worst.

“Mother, there’s no way my sister would have jumped into the river to commit suicide. She has already overcome the toughest times before, and now it’s even more unlikely,” said a 17-18 year old boy while clenching his fists and refusing to believe that his sister would take her own life.

“Yeah, back then, in such difficult circumstances, Xiao He still gave birth to Xiao Bao under so much pressure. She also took such good care of him and now our family has been doing better and better, so why would Xiao He commit suicide?”

The family’s hearts became heavy because of their son’s words.

Looking at their unconscious daughter lying in bed, they could only wait for her to wake up and find out what had happened to her.

Hearing these voices while in a state of unconsciousness, Wang Jinhe thought she had misheard. After all, she was an orphan, how could she have parents?

Wait a minute, parents?

Wang Jinhe slowly opened her eyes and looked at the people gathered around her bed.

There were two elderly people, two middle-aged couples, a boy, and a little child gathered around her. When they saw her wake up, they were pleasantly surprised, and the little child even climbed up the bed with both hands and feet, saying, “Mother, you’re awake.”

Mother?

No, she hasn’t even gotten married yet, so where did such big son come from?

Wang Jinhe felt that something was not quite right.

She turned her head to look at the people beside the bed and finally realized what was wrong. The people around the bed were dressed like ancient people.

Just as she was about to say something, Wang Jinhe’s head was hit by a sharp pain, her eyebrows furrowed, and memories rushed out like a broken dam.

After digesting all of the memories, Wang Jinhe realized that she had died and then came back to life, but had left modern times and was reborn into the body of a young girl in ancient times with the same name and surname as her.

This young girl is now 18 years old. When she was 14, she accidentally got pregnant and gave birth to a son named Wang Zhiqin.

Wang Jinhe thought that this girl was really courageous, and her family was also very good. In modern times, getting pregnant before marriage is a very shameful thing, let alone in ancient times.

But this young girl was able to withstand the pressure and give birth to the child and raise him so well.

And this family…

Thinking of everything this family had done for their daughter and grandson, Wang Jinhe felt full of envy.

“Xiao He, you’re okay now. You scared us to death. Why are you so foolish?” Wang Jinhe’s mother, Gu Shi, held her and cried, “If anything had happened to you, what would I, your dad,  and your baby Xiao Bao do?”

Wang Jinhe was stunned as she was embraced by Gu Shi. Was this what a mother’s embrace felt like? It was really warm.

Wang Jinhe hugged Gu Shi back and spoke, “Mom, I didn’t want to commit suicide.”

“No suicide? Then how did you end up jumping into the river?” Gu Shi released Wang Jinhe and asked with a frown.

“I was pushed down by someone.” Wang Jinhe searched through the memories of the original owner of her body and found that she was indeed pushed down by someone. And that person was someone they their family knew well.

“What? Who pushed you down? Tell me,” Wang Jingyu gritted his teeth.

Wang Jingyu and his sister were twins, and his sister had always had poor health since childhood. He had always spoiled and protected her. Now, someone had pushed her into the river, and she almost lost her life. This matter was far from over.

“I don’t know who it was,” She replied. “Our family doesn’t have the ability to investigate right now. Our top priority is to earn money and rebuild our house. Otherwise, when the rainy season comes, our little shack won’t be able to withstand the wind and rain.”

“It’s good that Xiao He is okay,” Grandma Wang said, reaching out to pat her granddaughter’s head to comfort her.

“Mother is right. Xiao He’s safety is more important than anything else,” Wang Jingyu added.

“Hey, Dad, why don’t you go buy some meat and give it to Xiao He to help her recover? She must have been through a lot when she fell into the water, and her body is weak,” Gu Shi said to the man who had been silent beside her.

“Alright, I’ll go right away,” the man responded.

Seeing that Wang Jinhe was not feeling well, Gu Shi helped her lie down and said, “Rest a little longer.”

Wang Jinhe lay in bed, although the blanket wasn’t the best quality, it made her feel that it was the best one she had ever had, and it was warm.

When Gu Shi saw that Wang Jinhe wanted to rest, she planned to take the child out with her. However, the child refused to leave and held onto Wang Jinhe tightly, saying, “No, I want to stay with my mother.”

Although Wang Jinhe wasn’t quite prepared to be a mother, she felt sorry for the child clinging to her like that. So she spoke up and said, “Mother, why don’t we let Xiao Bao stay here? He’s very well-behaved.”

“Okay, Xiao Bao, you have to take good care of your mother, okay?”

Xiao Bao nodded incessantly and said, “I will take good care of my mother.”

After the others left, only Wang Jinhe and her son, Xiao Bao, remained in the room. Xiao Bao looked at Wang Jinhe with big, dark eyes for a while before finally speaking up, “Mother, Xiao Bao likes you the most.”

Wang Jinhe reached out and rubbed Xiao Bao’s head. He was such a cute little bundle, no wonder the original owner had taken such good care of him.

As the others left, it was just Wang Jinhe and her son in the room. Xiao Bao  looked at her with his big dark eyes for a while before speaking up: “Mommy, Xiao Bao likes you the most.”

Wang Jinhe reached out to ruffle Xiao Bao’s hair. He was such an adorable little bundle, no wonder the original host had taken good care of him.

“Mother likes Xiao Bao too. How about Xiao Bao keeps mother mommy company and we take a nap together?”

“Okay.”

Before long, the mother and son fell asleep in each other’s arms.

In her dreams, Wang Jinhe found herself in front of a spring, surrounded by vibrant greenery.

As she opened her eyes, Wang Jinhe looked at her hand, with a bewildered expression in her eyes. It turned out to be just a dream. She felt her clothes being pulled and looked down to see the child curled up in her arms, sleeping peacefully with a gentle smile on her face.

Wang Jinhe gently pinched the child’s cheek and carefully removed his hand before getting up and leaving the room.

As she walked out, the house was quiet, not a soul in sight. Most likely, they had all gone to the fields, as it was the busy farming season. Even though most of the land they had owned had been sold to pay for the original owner’s medical treatment, they had kept a few acres of good paddy fields to grow their own food.

After checking the weather, Wang Jinhe turned around and went into the kitchen to prepare for cooking.

As she looked at the tidy kitchen and the earthen stove, Wang Jinhe shook her head with a wry smile. It was fortunate that she grew up in the countryside, otherwise she wouldn’t know how to use this type of stove.

She looked around and found some sweet potatoes in the corner and a small amount of rice in the rice jar, and fell into silence.

It seems like she needs to start making money earlier, otherwise they won’t have enough food until the new harvest season.

After taking a few sweet potatoes, she peeled and washed them, cut them into pieces, and also scooped a large bowl of rice, washed it, and set it aside.
