Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 2

Chapter 2: The Magical Spring at Your Fingertips

After preparing everything, Wang Jinhe went to start the fire.

While starting the fire, she accidentally set some dry branches on fire.

“Water, water,” Wang Jinhe panicked for a moment. Suddenly, some water came out of her fingertips and extinguished the fire. Not only that, but some fresh green leaves also sprouted from the dry branches.

Holding the dry branch with green leaves sprouting out of it, Wang Jinhe’s expression was somewhat stunned. What was this?

Did the dead tree come back to life?

She looked down at her fingers. It seemed that the water had come out from her fingertips.

Wang Jinhe grabbed a bowl and placed her hand over it. Water gushed out of her fingers and into the bowl.

This scene left Wang Jinhe wide-eyed. Could this be a supernatural occurrence? Her hands were actually able to produce water?

With fear in her heart, Wang Jinhe carefully held the bowl of water up to her nose and took a whiff. It seemed to have a faint lotus fragrance.

She tasted the water and found it to be slightly sweet and quite delicious.

Looking at the green leaves on the branch, Wang Jinhe wondered if using it to make porridge would make it taste better since it had the ability to bring dead wood back to life.

After drinking some of the water and realizing it didn’t seem to cause any harm to her body, she decided to add about two bowls of water into the porridge while cooking.

She couldn’t help but feel excited at the thought of tasting the final product. After all, this was the first time she had encountered such a miraculous ability.

Wang Jinhe covered the pot and looked at her fingertips, wondering how she had this ability.

She thought about the online novels she had read before, and this was somewhat similar to the magical spring water described in the stories.

She wondered if this water would work on the vegetables in her garden.

Adding two pieces of firewood into the fire, Wang Jinhe went to her yard and looked at the palm-sized Chinese cabbage. After thinking for a moment, she placed her hand on top of the cabbage and poured some spring water onto it.

Suddenly, Wang Jinhe saw the two cabbages that had been watered by the spring water grow visibly faster with her own eyes.

Quickly retracting her hand, Wang Jinhe looked at the Chinese cabbage that had grown significantly larger, feeling both astonished and distressed at the same time.

The cabbages grew too fast for her liking, and she needed to get rid of the evidence.

Hugging the cabbages tightly, Wang Jinhe twisted their necks and pulled them out of the ground.

After washing the vegetables by the small stream outside, Wang Jinhe returned home to continue cooking.

As she arrived, she noticed a figure not far away, sneaking towards her while also looking in her direction.

After identifying the person’s appearance, Wang Jinhe sneered. It turned out to be the one who had caused the death of the previous owner. Even though she couldn’t seek revenge for the previous owner now, it didn’t mean that she would just let it go.

She walked over and stood behind the person, listening to her muttering to herself, “Where is she? She was here just now, how did she suddenly disappear?”

She reached out and tapped the person’s shoulder. Wang Jinhe deliberately lowered her voice and asked, “Are you looking for me?”

The voice was chilling, and the person jumped up in fright, “Ah… don’t come near me, you…”

Wang Jinhe looked at the girl with a twisted expression, who was scared out of her wits. She sneered. How dare she harm others with such cowardice?

“How did you end up here?” asked the frightened girl.

“If I’m not here, then where should I be? In the underworld?” replied Wang Jinhe with a sneer, as she walked up to Xie Wanwan and grabbed her collar.

“Xie Wanwan, you pushed me into the river, and I haven’t come to settle the score with you yet. But here you are, looking for me. Shall we settle both the old and new scores now?”

Hearing Wang Jinhe’s words, Xie Wanwan suddenly became flustered: “Me… Who pushed you into the river? Don’t talk nonsense here, I didn’t do it.”

Looking at Xie Wanwan’s stubborn denial, Wang Jinhe’s smile became a bit sinister: “Don’t you know in your heart whether you did it or not? I’m not blind. I know someone pushed me.”

Shi Wanwan was scared by Wang Jinhe’s sinister smile. She pushed Wang Jinhe away and took a few steps back before saying, “What’s wrong with me disliking you? You have no self-respect. You got pregnant before marriage, and you won’t let Xilin marry a wife. You have no shame.”

Xilin? Who is that?

Wang Jinhe thought carefully and finally remembered. Xilin was the original owner’s ex-fiancĂ©.

Before the original owner of the body became pregnant out of wedlock, Wu Xinlin, her fiancĂ© at the time, broke off their engagement after passing the imperial examination, as his family felt they were of higher status than the original owner’s family.

“I think there’s something wrong with you, Xie Wanwan. Wu Xinlin’s family broke off the engagement with my family after he passed the imperial examination for scholars. Why didn’t he get married now? It’s because they look down on rural women,” Wang Jinhe said with a cold laugh.

“You’re talking nonsense. Brother Xinlin is not like that,” Xie Wanwan retorted.

Looking up and down at the embarrassed Xie Wanwan, Wang Jinhe said with anger, “Oh, I see. You have your eyes on that guy, Wu Xinlin, who passed the imperial examination a few years ago but failed to pass the civil service examination. Your family is wealthy, right? Maybe if you sponsored him to continue his studies, he would consider marrying you?”

The Wu family’s financial situation was quite average, and the only reason why Wu Xinlin was able to pass the imperial examination was because of Wang Jingyu’s guidance and notes. Otherwise, was Wu Xinlin even qualified?

Unfortunately, after Wu Xinlin passed the imperial examination, his family quickly broke off the engagement and disappeared. Since then, Xie Wanwan’s brother had no longer paid any attention to Wu Xinlin, who continued to take the civil service examination every year but unfortunately never passed again.

“You…” Xie Wanwan began to retort.

“Wu Xinlin knew very well how he passed the imperial examination, and he knew very well if what he did was reasonable. It’s your fault for trying to kill me over a guy like him, Xie Wanwan. Your father is the village head, and my family is an outsider. I can’t do anything to you right now, but this isn’t over. Don’t show up in front of me again, or I won’t be able to resist slapping you. Got it?” Wang Jinhe reached out and patted Xie Wanwan’s face.

Xie Wanwan was frightened by Wang Jinhe and fell to the ground, watching her leave with the cabbage in hand.

She subconsciously swallowed and realized for the first time how scary Wang Jinhe could be.

Xie Wanwan quickly got up and ran back home. When Xie Wanwan reached the front door of the house, she turned around and glanced back.

Indeed, she didn’t tell her family about the incident because it was mainly due to their family’s need to live in this village, despite not being native to the area like the rest of the villagers.

Even if the matter was brought to the attention of the village chief, the result would be in favor of protecting the interests of the local family, putting her family at a disadvantage.

She knew that this would be the result, so why bother seeking trouble for herself?

But this matter wouldn’t just end like this.

She made a mental note for herself to remember this, and if she dares to cause trouble again, both old and new accounts will be settled.

As soon as she pushed open the door and entered the house, Wang Jinhe smelled a very pleasant fragrance in the kitchen. The aroma made her feel ravenously hungry.

She lifted the lid of the pot and checked the porridge. A few more minutes of simmering and it would be ready to serve.

Wang Jinhe then proceeded to chop the Chinese cabbage, planning to make a stir-fried cabbage dish with vinegar.

When the whole family returned home with their hoes, they caught a whiff of the delicious aroma.

They exchanged  glances and hurried to the kitchen, where they saw Wang Jinhe preparing a dish of stir-fried cabbage.

“Wang Jinhe, what are you doing up so early?” they asked as they approached the kitchen door.
