Chapter 33: Moving to a New Home

“I was thinking of coming to tell you how to play, but I didn’t expect you two to figure it out on your own,” Wang Jinhe said with a smile.

Xiao Bao looked proud and said to Wang Jinhe gleefully, “Mommy, me and brother are the best. You don’t need to teach us; we know how to play by ourselves.”

“Yes, you two are the best,” Wang Jinhe said, looking at them and then asked, “Do you want to sleep together or one on the top bunk and one on the bottom?”

They exchanged glances and said in unison, “We want to sleep together.”

Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but laugh, “Okay, you can sleep together. I’ll go get some blankets for you.”

Wang Jinhe brought the bedding and covered the two children. Finally, there were two special guests to introduce.

“Xiao Bao, you and Xiao Zhi come down first. I have something to give you,” Wang Jinhe said to the two who were on the top bunk.

They slid down from the bunk, and Xiao Bao ran over, eagerly looking at Wang Jinhe. “Mommy, what are you going to give us? I’m so curious.”

Wang Jinhe took out two small toy dinosaurs that she had prepared for them.

“Mommy, what are these? They look so cool,” Xiao Bao asked in amazement.

“These are little dinosaurs,” Wang Jinhe replied.

“What are little dinosaurs, Mommy?”

“They’re cute little animals,” Wang Jinhe said without hesitation, although they were not exactly cute.

Other than the dinosaurs in cartoons, where can you find something as cute?

“Mommy, can we keep these cute little dinosaurs as pets?” Xiao Bao asked.

Wang Jinhe hesitated for a moment, then reached out to ruffle Xiao Bao’s hair. “No, you definitely can’t.”

“Why not? Because they’re already gone?”

“Mommy, is this one also a little dinosaur?” But how come it looks different from the one he holding?

“This one is a crocodile that lives in the distant, vast forest.”

“Mommy, are you giving both of them to me and brother?” Xiao Bao asked again.

Wang Jinhe felt that Xiao Bao had asked too many questions today.

“Yes, one for each of you.” Xiao Bao looked at one, then at the other, not sure which one to choose.

After Wang Jinhe left, Xiao Bao asked Xiao Zhi, “Brother, which one do you like?”

“I like the little dinosaur.” Zhang Zhilin looked at the little dinosaur in Xiao Bao’s hand. He really liked it.

Xiao Bao’s eyes lit up at once. “I like the little crocodile. So, if you ever want to play with the little crocodile, I’ll let you.”

“And if you want to play with the little dinosaur, I’ll let you.” After that, the two children carried their plush toys with them wherever they went, and the family was delighted with the playful atmosphere at home.

“Dad, do you have any thoughts now?” Wang Jinhe asked Wang Dagui while suppressing a smile.

“This is the first time I’ve known what this means,” Wang Dagui said, and even he couldn’t help but laugh.

Gu Shi and the others also burst into laughter, and even Zhang Zhilin couldn’t help but smile, finding Xiao Bao’s actions amusing.

Only Xiao Bao was looking here and there, not sure what everyone was laughing about.

“Brother, let’s go on an adventure and check out Uncle’s room. He has a desk and a bookshelf,” Xiao Bao said enviously.

“No need to envy; you have one too. Go take a look,” Wang Jinhe said, thinking that the bookshelf should have been assembled.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Bao quickly pulled Xiao Zhi to check it out.

The novel desk fascinated Xiao Bao, and Zhang Zhilin said earnestly, “I want my mom to buy one for me too.”

This desk could be used for writing and storing books, and it looked nice, which he really liked. He also wanted Xiao Bao’s bed.

“Alright.”

“Oh, by the way, Xiao Zhi, this is a letter for you,” Wang Jinhe suddenly remembered and handed him a letter. When he left, Huang Qi gave her a letter, saying it was for Xiao Zhi.

Xiao Zhi had been feeling a bit down, but when he heard this, he brightened up and started reading the letter.

“Do you see any unfamiliar characters, Xiao Zhi?” Wang Jinhe didn’t look but asked.

Xiao Zhi nodded, “Yes, there are some characters I don’t recognize.”

“This one means ‘home,’ the home of a family,” Wang Jinhe explained.

After Wang Jinhe explained a few more characters to Xiao Zhi, he no longer encountered any unfamiliar ones. He was quite literate for a child of just over five years old.

After reading the letter, Zhang Zhilin had a happy smile on his face. Seeing this, Wang Jinhe asked, “What did your mom say?”

“My mom said they’ve already arrived at Grandpa’s house. Grandpa was really happy to hear that I have a little friend. He said that when Mommy comes back, they will come to see me together and bring lots of gifts for me and Xiao Bao.” Zhang Zhilin said happily.

He liked Grandpa, Grandma, and Grandpa, but he didn’t like Grandma at all. She wasn’t nice.

Wang Jinhe ruffled Zhang Zhilin’s hair and asked, “Are you happy?”

Zhang Zhilin nodded vigorously, “Very happy.”

“That’s good.”

At the same time, in the Gu family in the capital city.

“Is Xiao Zhi really going to be okay? You guys didn’t lie to me, did you, old man?” Grandpa Gu looked at his daughter with a furrowed brow and asked.

“It’s true. Ever since he met Xiao Bao, Xiao Zhi has been getting better little by little. He’s eating more, talking less, and even voluntarily proposed to start practicing martial arts.” Thinking of her son, Gu Jing’s eyes were filled with a faint smile.

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Gu finally felt relieved. “That’s good. This time, I will go back with you to see Xiao Zhi and confirm if he is really as well as you’ve said.”

“I’ll handle this matter personally. If the Zhang family still refuses to cooperate, then you can take action,” Grandpa Gu told Gu Jing.

He was a scholar who believed in resolving conflicts diplomatically before resorting to force.

If diplomacy failed, and the Zhang family continued to be uncooperative, then they could employ other means. His daughter’s position as the county princess was not attained easily; she had risked her life for it.

Gu Jing nodded in agreement. “We’ll follow your lead, Father.”

“Zhang Qing, what about you? What are your thoughts?”

“No matter how this matter is resolved, I won’t let them off the hook for the interest owed. After all, they violated the agreement first,” Zhang Qing stated firmly.
