Chapter 40: Looks Like Me

Especially with his resolute and honest attitude, it seemed like even if he got punched, he would still say what he needed to say.

Gu Shi looked at Su Yu with mixed emotions and said, “To be honest, I’m very angry. You have no idea what Xiaohe went through to keep this child. But your attitude also makes it difficult for me to blame you. I just hope that in the future, if you two are truly together, you’ll treat Xiaohe well. She has suffered too much in these years.”

Are you saying he deliberately acted like a rogue? He was drugged and had no choice but to do that.

Su Yu nodded with a serious expression. “I won’t make any promises, but I can tell you this: as long as I’m around, no one will dare to bully her.”

Wang Jinhe gave him a disdainful look. This guy’s way of speaking was really something.

“Mom, what are you arguing about?” Xiao Bao, holding a small crocodile toy, came out with bare feet, rubbing his eyes, and asked.

Wang Jinhe walked over to Xiao Bao, picked him up, and said, “Why didn’t you wear shoes when you came out?”

“I heard you guys arguing,” Xiao Bao said. He woke up a little later every morning, and today he hadn’t fully woken up when he heard the commotion outside.

Carefull, Don’t wake up Big Brother Xiao Zhi.

Seeing the way Little Bao was drawn to her by blood made Su Yu find it quite amazing.

Walking up to Wang Jinhe nd looking at the little guy in her arms who hadn’t fully woken up, Su Yu asked, “Is your nickname Xiao Bao?”

“My nickname is Xiao Bao, and my full name is Wang Ziqin.” Little Bao mumbled. When he saw Su Yu’s face, he looked dumbfounded. “You look just like me.”

Xiao Bao turned to look at Wang Jinhe and asked, “Mom, who is he? Why does he look like me?”

Wang Jinhe sighed helplessly and replied, “He is Xiao Bao’s father.”

Tears welled up in Xiao Bao’s eyes as he said, ” Xiao Bao doesn’t have a father, Xiao Bao only has Mom, just Mom.” He reached out and hugged Wang Jinhe’s neck, looking pitiful.

Wang Jinhe’s eyes were filled with helplessness as he patted Xiao Bao’s back and said, ” Xiao Bao, he didn’t mean not to come back.”

“Why is that?”

“Because Xiao Bao’s father went to fight bad people. There were many bad people who wanted to harm us, so to protect Xiao Bao and his grandparents, he had to leave for such a long time. Now that he’s finished dealing with the bad people, he’s come back to see Xiao Bao.” Wang Jinhe explained. Indeed, when they went to defend the city, it was an unexpected turn of events, and they didn’t anticipate such a situation.

They had also tried to reach out, but they were always stationed on the defending side of the city.

Furthermore, Su Yu genuinely cared for her son, and she wanted Xiao Bao to have more people who loved him. Naturally, she didn’t want any estrangement between them.

“Really?” Little Bao looked at Wang Jinhe with teary eyes and asked.

Wang Jinhe nodded with a smile, “Of course, Mom won’t lie to Little Bao. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Grandpa, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.”

Xiao Bao looked at Wang Dagui and the others, who all nodded with a non-angry expression.

Seeing that everyone said the same, Little Bao turned his head to look at Su Yu and asked, “Will you protect my Mom in the future?”

Su Yu replied, “Of course, I’ll protect her. I won’t let your Mom get hurt.”

“Promise not to let Mom be sad.”

“Okay.”

“Is there anything else you’d like?” Su Yu asked as she looked at Little Bao.

She found this little guy incredibly adorable, especially his chubby cheeks and chubby little hands.

Su Yu felt an itch in her heart and said, “Can I… can I hold him?”

Wang Jinhe shrugged and handed Little Bao over to her. Su Yu awkwardly held Xiao Bao, making him uncomfortable.

Xiao Bao felt uncomfortable being held by Su Yu and couldn’t help but complain, “You’re so clumsy, you don’t even know how to hold a child.”

Wang Jinhe stifled a laugh as he watched the two of them, finding it quite amusing.

“I haven’t held such a small child before. I should get the hang of it after a few tries,” Su Yu nodded as she spoke, and her actions made Wang Jinhe feel somewhat helpless.

“Let’s go, Dad will take you to see something nice,” Su Yu said as she carried Xiao Bao towards the door.

“What is it?”

“A gift prepared for you.”

“Then, Mom, Grandpa, Grandma, Great-Grandpa, and Great-Grandma, and Uncle, do they have it too?” Xiao Bao tilted his head and asked.

“They all have it.”

Grandpa Wang sighed and said, ” Xiao Bao still wishes for a father.”

Wang Jinhe nodded in agreement. Although Xiao Bao didn’t call Su Yu “father,” it was evident from his tone that he was happy.

“Well, that’s good. Recently, there have been some matchmakers inquiring about arranging marriages for you. Although we had some thoughts before, now that Xiao Bao’s father has come back, it’s only natural to prioritize him,” Gu Shi spoke up.

Wang Jinhe furrowed his brow, “These people are really relentless.”

“It’s not a problem now, but we still need an excuse, just in case others become suspicious later,” Grandpa Wang furrowed his brow, considering the situation.

“Let’s say he had an accident while traveling at sea with the ship, and we all thought he was lost, so we didn’t say anything,” Grandpa Wang suggested, looking at Wang Jinhe.

“Alright.”

“Okay.”

“Wow, Mom, come quick!” While the family was talking, Xiao Bao exclaimed outside, ” big brother Zhi!” He then ran back into the room, holding a toy dinosaur, and pulled Xiao Zhi, who was already dressed, out with him.

Wang Jinhe and the others followed the two children outside and were startled by the four huge boxes.

“Mom, look!” Xiao Bao excitedly pointed to the open box, urging Wang Jinhe to take a look.

Wang Jinhe leaned over to see, and goodness gracious, did this person buy every toy available? There was a wide variety of toys inside.

“These are for Xiao Bao, this one is for you, and the things in these two boxes are for Dad, Mom, Grandpa, and Grandma,” Su Yu casually changed the titles without any reservation.

Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu and thought he was a bit cheeky. Did he even know what he was calling them?

Grandpa Wang chuckled at Su Yu’s boldness, “We have gifts too? Well, let’s see what goodies there are.”

When Huang Qi and the others helped open the boxes, Wang Jinhe twitched her mouth and looked at Su Yu, saying, “Did you bring the entire street here?”

The boxes were filled with items like fabrics, jewelry, and more.

Upon hearing Wang Jinhe’s words, Su Yu shook his head and said, “Not quite. I received the message and rushed here, so I could only prepare these things in a hurry. Although it can’t make up for the pain you’ve endured over the years, I still want to make amends.”

“Did this cost a lot of money?” Wang Jinhe asked curiously.

These items all looked top-notch, and at least he hadn’t seen anything like them here. Some of the jewelry looked invaluable.

“Things that can be solved with money are no big deal,” Su Yu replied nonchalantly. “Besides, it didn’t cost that much.”

Su Yu had earned a lot of money, and he used to spend very little. Now, he finally had places to spend it—on her son and wife.
