Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu, still not fully comprehending his point.
“Don’t you get it?” Su Yu asked.
“I don’t,” Wang Jinghe shook her head. She felt like she was struggling to keep up with Su Yu’s train of thought.
“Once we’re married, aren’t we considered a family? From an outsider’s perspective, won’t the fruits and vegetables at home be considered as grown by your parents?” Su Yu patiently explained.
Wang Jinghe contemplated for a moment and then nodded gently, “That’s correct.”
“So, what’s the problem if I introduce the well-grown fruits to my business partner?” Su Yu asked matter-of-factly.
Wang Jinghe continued to gaze at Su Yu, but it still took her a moment to fully grasp his perspective.
Su Yu could tell from Wang Jinghe’s confused expression that she still didn’t quite understand.
“Do you still not get what I mean?” Su Yu couldn’t help but ask.
Wang Jinghe responded with a soft “Hmm,” indicating that she was indeed struggling to grasp Su Yu’s point.
“Here’s what I mean. If someone knows that you grew these fruits and vegetables, and you’re the one selling them, they might hesitate to let their friends buy from us because it’s a business partnership. But if they think we both grew these crops and invested money, then they can comfortably take advantage of their friends,” Wang Jingyu chimed in, unable to remain silent any longer.
Wang Jinghe blinked, looking at Su Yu with surprise. “Is that how it works?”
Su Yu nodded, relieved that she finally understood.
Su Yu nodded, “Exactly, if they know that you’re the one taking the money, they’ll definitely hesitate to pay a high price. But if they don’t know, they can comfortably charge a premium.”
Wang Jinghe’s mouth twitched as she looked at Su Yu. No wonder this guy’s parents were willing to let him handle the family business. With this kind of thinking, it was truly a case of ‘not accepting wouldn’t work.’
“I really can’t accept your way of thinking. You can do things like this? If your friends find out, they might cut ties with you,” Wang Jinghe said with a hint of annoyance.
Su Yu chuckled, “Just don’t let them find out.”
“…” Being friends with Su Yu was really unlucky for those people. Not only did they help him make money, but they also had to be prepared to be taken advantage of by their so-called ‘good brother’ at any time.
“Whoever becomes friends with you should really think twice. You’re the only one who schemes like this,” Wang Jinghe shook her head.
“Jinghe, you’re not saying it right. When have I ever schemed? At most, I’ve given them an opportunity to earn money. After all, you have so many good things here in the future, don’t you think?” Su Yu looked at Wang Jinghe with a mischievous smile.
Wang Jinghe felt that Su Yu was truly a cunning businessman.
She decided that she couldn’t continue discussing this topic with him. If they kept talking about it, she might go into a state of self-reflection.
The next day, Yunbao brought people to help Wang Jinghe and the others pick watermelons. When he saw the large watermelons, he couldn’t help but exclaim, “Madam, how did you manage to grow such amazing watermelons? These are incredible!”
Wang Jinghe was taken aback by being addressed as “Madam” by Yunbao. She looked at Yunbao and said with a twitching corner of her mouth, “I just grew them like that. And you can call me by my name. There’s no need for ‘Madam’.”
Yunbao only heard the first part of her reply and completely ignored the request to call her by her name.
“If we dares to not call you ‘Madam,’ the Young Master will definitely beat us. We wouldn’t commit such a suicide act,” Yunbao thought to himself.
“I’ll go pick them,” Wang Jinghe said as she started picking the watermelons, while Yunbao and his group followed behind to collect them. Surprisingly, their pace wasn’t as fast as hers.
“Alright, that should be enough,” Wang Jinghe announced after finishing her picking. She turned to look at Yunbao and his team, who were still slowly collecting the watermelons. Her mouth twitched in disbelief.
Were they really this slow? She had already finished picking a long time ago, and these people hadn’t even collected half of them yet.
She walked over with a pair of scissors and asked, “Is it that troublesome?”
Yunbao was speechless as he looked at the sky. Could he say that it was more than just troublesome? They had to carry each one individually.
Seeing Yunbao’s expression, Wang Jinghe couldn’t help but laugh. “Take your time; there’s no need to rush.”
Yunbao looked at Wang Jinghe blankly and couldn’t help but feel that Madam was teasing him.
Su Yu walked over to Wang Jinghe and asked, “How many watermelons do we have this time?”
“Five hundred,” Wang Jinghe replied with a smile.
Su Yu was satisfied with the answer. “This time it’s definitely a lot more than the last batch.”
Wang Jinghe glanced at him and said, “Well, it should be.”
“However, with so many watermelons this time, the people in the village will probably find out that our family is making money from growing them,” Wang Jinghe said with a furrowed brow, looking at the watermelon field.
Once the villagers knew about the high-quality watermelons her family was producing, some of them might become restless.
Seeing Wang Jinghe’s slightly irritated expression, Su Yu couldn’t help but chuckle. “What’s wrong? Not happy anymore?”
Wang Jinghe rolled her eyes at Su Yu. “Would you be happy if you were in my shoes? Besides, I’m not exactly a small landowner right now. I’ve only cultivated this much land. Maybe one day, when I have a large estate, I can be a carefree landowner. By the way, I’ve already purchased the twenty acres of sandy land.”
She continued, “Do you think I should fence off the sandy land and turn it into an estate? If I can’t handle it all myself, I could hire some laborers to build houses for them to live in. What do you think?” Wang Jinghe admitted that she didn’t know much about these matters, so she wanted to seek Su Yu’s advice.
Su Yu nodded and said, “Fencing it off is a must, and building houses is a good idea. Do you know that the produce you grow is much better than what others produce? Even vegetables, if you can transport them to the capital to sell, do you realize the prices you could get?”
Wang Jinhe tilted her head and looked at Su Yu. “Of course, I know they can fetch high prices. But isn’t it difficult to grow these vegetables? Moreover, transporting them such a long distance, won’t they wither? Who would want to buy such wilted vegetables?”
