“Don’t worry, the grain seeds have been delivered, and the people have been dispatched,” Su Yu remarked, raising an eyebrow as he looked at Xuan Feiran. It seemed he truly didn’t need to worry too much.
Xuan Feiran was greatly pleased by this, “That’s good to hear. I was concerned about what I needed to do, but it seems my worries were unfounded.”
“In the northern regions, Wang Jingyu and others have reported back. The grain seeds have already been distributed there. Some individuals sought to profit from it, but they didn’t expect me to intervene directly,” Xuan Feiran mockingly remarked.
Every single grain seed had to be utilized for the benefit of the people. Those attempting to exploit these resources for personal gain needed to have the capability and the fate to do so.
“This is excellent. I’ve reviewed Xiao He’s plans for this year, and there will be more corn planted,” Su Yu added.
Encouraged by Wang Jingyu and his group, the people in the north have begun reclaiming land.
“This is great. After clearing out some pests, how can the Xuan Empire not prosper?” Xuan Feiran said with narrowed eyes.
He was determined to assist Xuan Feiran in developing the Xuan Empire into a formidable force, one that no one would dare to have ill intentions towards.
“Of course, with the people relieved of worries, our soldiers have never ceased training, naturally growing stronger,” Xuan Feiran affirmed. Not inclined towards aggression, he wouldn’t launch attacks when the Xuan Empire needed time to recuperate.
However, he wouldn’t tolerate any invasions against the Xuan Empire. Anyone daring to attack must be prepared for retaliation.
Initially, Xuan Feiran intended to inquire about the affairs of Yu Jingchuan and the others, but seeing others present in the study, he refrained from asking further.
“Lately, other princesses have expressed interest in learning from you, Xiao Yu,” Xuan Feiran remarked with a smile, looking at Su Yu.
However, Su Yu furrowed her brow and shook his head, “I’m busy.”
If they had shown interest from the start, he might have entertained those princesses for Xuan Feiran’s sake. But now, with their delayed interest after witnessing progress in his teachings, he found their sudden eagerness puzzling.
Where did this sudden change of heart come from?
This wasn’t a place where anyone could simply come and go as they pleased. Seeing Su Yu’s impatience, Xuan Feiran realized he was growing impatient as well.
“Alright, as long as you’re happy,” Su Yu raised an eyebrow at Xuan Feiran. Wasn’t that expected?
“I’ll take my leave, Your Majesty.”
“Very well.”
After Su Yu departed, the Prime Minister sighed in resignation, “The concubines in the palace have miscalculated their plans.”
Su Yu wasn’t one to simply comply with whatever they said.
Xuan Feiran was equally indifferent towards those concubines.
He had given them opportunities, but they had only themselves to blame for not seizing them.
“It’s not as if they can come and go as they please here. After all, who wouldn’t want to receive guidance from Your Majesty among all the scholars in the realm?” The Prime Minister criticized the short-sightedness of those concubines.
Despite the clear opportunity at hand, only one concubine and princess had seized it.
With only one prince now, those concubines had developed unnecessary thoughts.
“In reality, Your Majesty, you and the Empress could have a few more young princes. By entrusting them all to Your Majesty for guidance, with the princes working together in unity, the Xuan Empire will only grow stronger,” the Prime Minister said solemnly to Xuan Feiran.
Xuan Feiran, twitching at the corner of his mouth, gave the Prime Minister a disdainful look, rolling his eyes, “Do you think having children is as simple as you say? Why don’t you and your wife have a few more children?”
Does this Prime Minister want to live peacefully anymore? He dares to say anything.
To actually urge childbirth, his audacity is truly excessive.
The Prime Minister cleared his throat, looking somewhat sheepish as he glanced at Xuan Feiran.
The other ministers struggled to contain their laughter; the Prime Minister’s courage was truly remarkable.
On the training ground, Xuan Mengjie, since being struck by Xuan Mengya, had become even more diligent in her martial arts practice. Her once tender and delicate face now bore a resolute expression.
Observing the child’s transformation, Su Yu’s eyes held a smile. This child was quite exceptional.
He stroked his chin, indicating that he would need to nurture this child well in the future.
Of course, this was something Xuan Mengjie remained unaware of.
Su Yu was teaching several children in the palace, while Wang Jinhe went to the Gu family with items prepared the day before.
After detoxifying, Gu Yanqi, though still somewhat weak, had risen to begin addressing the matters accumulated during this period.
“It seems you are already feeling better.”
Upon hearing Wang Jinhe’s voice, Gu Yanqi looked up at her with a smile, “Why did you come today?”
“I brought you something.”
“Oh? What is it?” Gu Yanqi’s interest was piqued, wondering what Wang Jinhe had brought for him.
Wang Jinhe handed over the item to Gu Yanqi, letting him see for himself.
Gu Yanqi, after looking at what Wang Jinhe had passed to him, furrowed his brow slightly.
“Gu Xiruo’s biological parents have unexpectedly arrived in the capital.”
“Yes.”
“What are your plans?”
“This is your affair. I am giving you this not only to provide you with another leverage against Gu Xiruo but also to make your tasks easier when dealing with her,” Wang Jinhe stated confidently, leaving Gu Yanqi somewhat speechless.
Giving Wang Jinhe a disdainful look, Gu Yanqi retorted, “I see you just want to slack off and pass the work onto me.”
“I have plenty on my plate. With Gu Xiruo eyeing the position of the Gu family head, wouldn’t it be best for you to take action?” Wang Jinhe’s reasoning seemed flawless.
Gu Yanqi felt helpless, having no way to deal with his sister.
“Alright, I’ll handle this matter.”
“I’m doing well, but there is something I need to tell you,” Gu Yanqi began, contemplating what to say next.
“Oh?”
“In recent times, Gu Sheng has been more active. I don’t think he’s willing to settle for just that,” Gu Yanqi frowned.
With that statement, Wang Jinhe understood his meaning.
“Is he also eyeing the Gu family?”
“It’s not just the Gu family.”
“He can only aim for the Gu family. When you say ‘not just the Gu family,’ does he also covet what I possess?”
Gu Yanqi remained silent, simply gazing at Wang Jinhe.
His expression left Wang Jinhe speechless, “Does he really harbor such intentions?”
“The things you possess, whether it’s produce, alcohol, or other items, are all tempting. Any ambitious person wouldn’t resist wanting them,” Wang Jinhe’s wine, once tasted, made other wines lose their appeal.
Wang Jinhe raised an eyebrow as she looked at Gu Yanqi, “That’s something he can only envy; you can only imagine.”
Gu Yanqi hesitated for a moment, then said irritably, “I never had any intentions like that.”
“Are you sure?” It was unclear who had shamelessly boasted about wanting to buy her wine recipe in the past.
Gu Yanqi cleared his throat softly, “Back then, I was young and foolish, and you…”
“Heh, it’s only been a year since then.”
Young and foolish? Nonsense.
