Xiao Bao quietly turned his head and glanced sympathetically at Yu Mosun.
It’s not that he won’t tell his uncle; it’s that his daddy is just too cunning. If he dares to speak up, he’ll surely face severe punishment from his daddy.
Thinking about Yu Mosun’s usual antics of chasing chickens and dogs, Xiao Bao believed that his daddy’s actions were ultimately for his uncle’s own good.
With only a few months’ difference in age compared to Hong Yi, who had been training in martial arts for over a year, Xiao Bao felt he was starting quite late. His daddy was looking out for his best interests.
As Xiao Bao reasoned with himself, he convinced himself that his father’s actions were justified, leaving him with a sense of sympathy towards Yu Mosun, who was unaware of the deception.
Seeing Xiao Bao shift his gaze, Su Yu turned to Yu Mosun, asking, “Is this for real?”
“It won’t be like before, where you only try when you feel like it and give up when you don’t,” Su Yu calmly responded, his words reflecting his lack of trust in Yu Mosun.
Yu Mosun, hearing Su Yu’s skeptical tone, became determined, “I won’t give up.”
“Really? Will you be able to wake up early in the morning?” Su Yu asked Yu Mosun doubtfully.
Yu Mosun was completely at a loss.
He disliked waking up early in the morning the most, usually getting up only when he felt like it.
Now, he was being asked to wake up early? Wasn’t this too much to handle?
“It seems like you won’t be able to do it,” Su Yu shrugged indifferently.
“I… I can definitely do it,” stammered Yu Mosun.
“Is that so? Well, we’ll see,” Su Yu’s expression remained cool and unconvinced, showing no trust in Yu Mosun.
Seeing Su Yu’s lack of faith in him, Yu Mosun felt displeased.
He decided that when he went back, he would definitely ask his parents to ensure he woke up early starting from the next day.
He absolutely couldn’t let his brother-in-law look down on him.
Xiao Bao, observing Yu Mosun’s earnest and determined demeanor, knew that Su Yu had successfully persuaded him.
Afterward, he would indeed be able to wake up early.
It’s just uncertain what his uncle’s reaction would be once he learned the truth. Would he be furious?
Thinking about it, Xiao Bao found it quite amusing.
After finishing their martial arts practice, they finally had half an hour to rest.
Yu Mosun sat down on the ground, asking, “Xiao Bao, are you all this tired every day?”
Xiao Bao replied honestly, “Today’s not too tiring; we were more tired on previous days.”
Upon hearing Xiao Bao’s words, Yu Mosun was completely dumbfounded. If this wasn’t considered tired, then what would it be like when they were truly exhausted? He began to regret his decision. Was it too late to turn back now?
Wasn’t it better for parents’ little treasures to be carefree and worry-free? Why did he have to say such things to his brother-in-law? What if he couldn’t live up to his words later? Just the thought of it gave Yu Mosun a headache.
“Is today’s practice over?”
Xiao Bao looked at Yu Mosun with sympathy, “No, today has just begun.”
“Just… begun?” Yu Mosun gazed at Xiao Bao in confusion. Was he being serious?
They’ve been practicing martial arts for such a long time, and it’s just the beginning?
“Today’s task of martial arts practice has ended, but everything else is yet to start,” Hong Yi kindly reminded from the side.
“We will also learn things like music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, and we’ll study other interesting subjects with Uncle Bai Qi,” he added.
Yu Mosun looked at Xiao Bao, silently asking if this was true.
Xiao Bao nodded, confirming, “It’s true.”
“Why do they have to work so hard? Can’t they just learn casually?” With parents who are so capable, why do they need to exhaust themselves with studies?
Yu Mosun truly couldn’t understand what Xiao Bao and the others were thinking.
“However, grandparents will grow old and eventually pass away. You will also grow up one day. Can they protect you for a lifetime? My goal is to surpass my father, and daddy’s intentions are for your own good. Is having your own capabilities a bad thing?” Xiao Bao spoke, hoping to ease Yu Mosun’s resistance towards these matters.
“Everyone wishes for a carefree life, but being carefree now means facing hardships when you grow up. Even if your family is wealthy, what if one day you have nothing? How would you survive?” Xiao Bao continued.
“My father insists on us learning everything to have a broad knowledge base. He wants us to be able to survive in this world even when they’re not around, not be completely reliant on them. He says they can arrange things for us now, but once we’re adults, our lives are our own. We must make our own decisions. They can’t always decide what we should do.” Xiao Bao explained to Yu Mosun.
Yu Mosun isn’t foolish; in fact, he’s quite smart. He simply dislikes studying and doesn’t want to be as exhausted as Xiao Bao and the others every day.
Previously, Yu Qingfeng always thought he was still young and could play for a couple more years, so he never discussed these matters with him. Now, hearing Xiao Bao speak like this caught him off guard.
“Mommy told us that accidents can happen unexpectedly, and at the age when you should be learning, you must learn. Acquire the knowledge you need so that when you grow up, you can pursue whatever you want,” Xiao Zhi nodded in agreement.
Seeing Yu Mosun still silent, Xiao Bao pointed to Chang Le beside them and said, “Look at Chang Le. She’s a princess, and moreover, the most beloved daughter of the Emperor and Empress. Does she need to study so much and work so hard every day? Not necessarily. But why does Chang Le study? Because she’s a princess with responsibilities to fulfill. In a couple of years, she will represent Xuan Empire in competitions against other princesses from different Empires.”
“Before the Third Princess joins, Chang Le was the only one confirmed from Xuan Empire to compete. Do you know how many countries she will be competing against?” Their relationship was good, and they naturally hoped that Yu Mosun would take their words to heart.
They didn’t want Yu Mosun to become a pampered and indulgent individual due to his family’s situation.
Yu Mosun listened to their words and pondered over them. “I understand,” he said and left. They didn’t see him for the rest of the study session.
Su Yu didn’t comment much on this matter.
Later, as they prepared for bed, Xiao Bao looked at Su Yu and asked, “Daddy, will Uncle come tomorrow?”
“He will,” Su Yu replied confidently, prompting Xiao Bao to ask, “Why are you so sure, Daddy?”
“Sensen is a very smart child. Being the youngest in the family, your grandfather has been a bit indulgent towards him and hasn’t had many serious talks with him. Today, you’ve all had the necessary conversation with him. He should be able to understand it on his own, and you’ll likely see a different side of Yu Mosun soon.” How could the son of Yu Qingfeng and Gu Jiuning be a wastrel?
It’s just that in the past, Yu Qingfeng had been overly indulgent towards him, given that he was born when they were almost forty. If it were him, he might have acted in a similar manner.
Now that the children have emphasized the importance of studying to him, he should know what to do next.
Xiao Bao nodded in understanding, “I understand.”
