Chapter 840: Transformation

Following Su Yu’s advice, Yu Mosun went home and talked to Gu Jiuning about the conversation he had with Xiao Bao and the others.

It was the first time Gu Jiuning had seen her son ask her such serious questions. However, she agreed with what Xiao Bao and the others had said; indeed, it was important to learn the necessary skills from a young age.

Gu Jiuning didn’t say much. She simply shared with Yu Mosun about her and Yu Qingfeng’s childhood, how they had also progressed step by step in their studies every day, just like Xiao Bao and Chang Le are doing now.

After hearing about Gu Jiuning’s childhood, Yu Mosun locked himself in his room until dinner time. When he finally emerged, the first thing he said to Gu Jiuning was to wake him up earlier the next morning.

Seeing Yu Mosun’s serious demeanor, Gu Jiuning knew that her son’s transformation had begun.

That night, Yu Mosun didn’t stay up late playing with Gu Jiuning as usual. Instead, he went to bed early, and the next morning, Gu Jiuning only had to call him twice before he promptly got up.

He didn’t need Gu Jiuning’s help to dress; he picked up his clothes and dressed himself.

Observing her son clumsily yet earnestly dressing himself, Gu Jiuning couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy. His behavior made her feel somewhat uncomfortable.

“Mom, what’s wrong?”

“Yusen, don’t you need me to help you get dressed?”

“I can do it. If Hong Yi can dress himself, so can I. I want to become strong so I can protect Dad and Mom,” Yu Mosun said earnestly as he dressed himself.

Upon hearing Yu Mosun’s words, Gu Jiuning felt happy but also a bit resigned.

Although she had anticipated this change, seeing Yu Mosun transform like this still left Gu Jiuning with mixed emotions.

After  getting dressed and combing his hair, Yu Mosun hurried off once he finished washing up.

When he passed by, Xiao Bao and the others were already awake.

Xiao Bao was surprised to see Yu Mosun coming alone. He hadn’t expected his lazy uncle to actually be up and about.

While Yu Mosun had seemed reluctant during martial arts practice yesterday, today he was extremely serious. He followed Su Yu’s instructions diligently, which brought a smile to Su Yu’s face.

It seems that after returning home yesterday, he must have talked with mother-in-law about some things.

Indeed, how could a talented child end up being mediocre?

After the morning training session, Su Yu looked at Yu Mosun, whose face seemed a bit pale, and asked, “Feeling tired? Have some water first.”

Yu Mosun took the water from Su Yu and drank it down, feeling his dry throat significantly improved.

“Tired.”

“Can you keep going?”

“Of course,” Yu Mosun firmly nodded.

With parents and uncles being so capable, along with his sister and brother-in-law, he couldn’t afford to lag behind.

“Let’s go have some food first. You don’t need to rush to catch up with Xiao Bao and the others just yet.”

“Okay.”

During the meal, Wang Jinhe, seeing Yu Mosun, who usually ate very little, finishing a large bowl of rice, couldn’t help but feel concerned. “Mosun, are you tired?”

“Tired, but I can push through,” Yu Mosun said, biting into a steamed bun.

“That’s good. If you ever feel overwhelmed, make sure to tell your brother-in-law, okay? Don’t push yourself too hard in the beginning,” Wang Jinhe said, expressing her concerns.

This little guy was quite proud, and she worried that Yu Mosun might sacrifice his health trying to keep up with Xiao Bao and the others.

Yu Mosun shrugged and mumbled, “I would like to, but my brother-in-law says you can’t get fat from just one mouthful. Everything needs to progress gradually.”

Wang Jinhe felt reassured now. With Su Yu watching over him, everything should be fine.

“Your brother-in-law is right. Progress should be gradual.”

After finishing the steamed bun, Yu Mosun joined Xiao Bao and the others in the room specially set up by Su Yu for their studies.

Su Yu started teaching Yu Mosun from scratch, and the results were remarkable. Yu Mosun’s learning speed was no less than Xiao Zhi and Hong Yi, slightly behind Xiao Bao. His talent far surpassed Ming Feiyang and the others.

The previous four students had excelled in the academy, often praised by their teachers and ranking at the top. However, after coming here, they realized there will always be someone better. They were a bit naive.

Now, a three-year-old beginner seemed more intelligent than them, making them question how to proceed.

Xiao Bao looked at Ming Feiyang and the others with sympathy, patting their shoulders reassuringly, “You’ll get used to it.”

Among their group, Xiao Bao possessed the best talent, followed by Hong Yi and Xiao Zhi, with the recent addition of another talented individual, Yu Mosun, leaving Ming Feiyang and the others last.

Once considered outstanding in the academy, they now found themselves surrounded by such exceptional talents, understandably affecting their morale.

Ming Feiyang looked at Xiao Bao speechlessly, “You’re not very good at comforting us.”

Xiao Bao’s attempt at consolation didn’t sit well with them at all.

“I was trying to comfort you,” Xiao Bao wondered why they weren’t appreciating his efforts.

“Maybe you should refrain from trying,” Ming Feiyang said, giving Xiao Bao a slightly irritated look.

Zheng Jun and the others nodded vigorously, indicating that they preferred not to receive such consolation.

Listening to the children’s conversation, Su Yu spoke up, “There’s no need to compare yourselves to Xiao Bao and the others. If we talk about Xiao Bao, you all can’t compare to him; he learns effortlessly while playing, a skill you can’t match. Xiao Zhi and the others may not have Xiao Bao’s level of talent, but they are exceptionally good. They have been learning from me since they were young. Once you find a study method that suits you, things will become much easier.”

“Thank you, Master.”

Su Yu looked at Ming Feiyang and the others in dismay. He had only intended to offer guidance, not take on disciples. However, they insisted on calling him “Master.”

Over time, he decided to let them be and allowed them to address him however they pleased.

“If you have any doubts or don’t understand something, either ask Xiao Bao and the others or come to me. The worst thing in learning is pretending to know something when you don’t,” Su Yu advised Ming Feiyang and the others.

So far, Su Yu has been very pleased with these children. Their attitude towards learning is commendable, showing seriousness and dedication, which, for him, is the best state they could be in.

Ming Feiyang and the others nodded earnestly, “We understand.”

“Then let’s continue.”

After teaching Yu Mosun for a few days, Su Yu noticed his exceptional talent in chess, on par with Xiao Bao, quickly grasping concepts and able to apply them in different scenarios.

His progress in chess went from being a novice to a rapid advancement.

With this development, Ming Feiyang and the others became more diligent and serious, refraining from making unnecessary comments, focusing on their daily studies.

In the initial days of martial arts practice, Yu Mosun experienced some discomfort, feeling sore all over his body. However, once he pushed through it, he felt fine, and it left him feeling energized.

Gu Jiuning’s initial worries gradually turned into resignation. Initially feeling dizzy at the sight of books, Yu Mosun now enjoyed reading after lessons, finding pleasure even in words he couldn’t understand.
