Chapter 14: High end bureau
Half an hour later, Xie Bo burst into Room 307 of the Baiyin Club. He didn’t bring anyone else, only Li Du by his side. In stark contrast to his lone arrival was Chi Xicheng, surrounded by many well-dressed bodyguards in the private room, presenting an imposing presence. Lin Yiwei was seized by him, forced to kneel on the carpet beside the sofa, her hair disheveled, and red welts visible on her slender, fair arms. Xie Bo’s eye muscles twitched slightly at the sight.
Chi Xicheng sat upright on the leather sofa, smiling slyly at Xie Bo, sarcastically remarking, “Really, Xie Bo, do you look down on me so much that you only brought along a Li Du?”
Xie Bo calmly sat on the black leather sofa opposite him, beneath his rimless glasses, his deep, expressionless eyes giving him the image of a refined gentleman. “Enough,” he said.
He exuded such confidence and assurance that bringing only one person already gave Chi Xicheng enough face.
Chi Xicheng despised Xie Bo’s calm demeanor the most; it just made him angry to look at. Who did he think he was, acting so self-assured, as if he ruled over the entire Qinggang City? Just a bastard son, yet he acted so arrogantly! Chi Xicheng grabbed Lin Yiwei’s neck, almost suffocating her, her cheeks flushed red.
Xie Bo said in a low voice, “Chi Xicheng, it’s despicable to lay hands on a woman.”
“So, you do care about something after all!” Chi Xicheng sneered, grabbing Lin Yiwei’s hair to pull her closer, “So, the young master Xie also has someone he cares about, such a ruthless person… I’m really curious, how skilled are you, to captivate him?”
Lin Yiwei coughed, looking at Xie Bo through her disheveled hair. His rimless glasses reflected a cold, icy light, his deep black eyes staring at her, unreadable emotions.
Chi Xicheng pinched Lin Yiwei’s face, forcing her to look at him, but her gaze stubbornly remained fixed on Xie Bo. “Xie Bo, I’m giving you face here, I spared her life for you to save her.”
“You dare.”
Even if he was unconscious, even if his unconsciousness was orchestrated by Chi Xicheng… any accidents in the racing accident could be explained away, denied. As long as he didn’t acknowledge it, it wouldn’t be considered an offense against the Xie family on the surface.
If Chi Xicheng really harmed someone important to Xie Bo, really provoked him, the grudges between them were small matters; if the Chi and Xie families developed enmity because of this, if it escalated to the point where the detested paparazzi media found out and affected the business of both families, it would become a big deal. That’s why Xie Bo went alone to the meeting.
Chi Xicheng grabbed Lin Yiwei’s collar and forcefully tore it open. The girl’s eyes were filled with humiliation but she didn’t cry, only using her hands to cover herself. No matter how Chi Xicheng bullied her, she didn’t cry. Tears weren’t meant for enemies to see, tears… were for loved ones and lovers.
“Don’t be fooled by this girl’s gentle appearance; she’s really stubborn! No matter how I bully her, she doesn’t cry.” Chi Xicheng smirked nastily, saying to Xie Bo, “She’s a spirited little bitch.”
Xie Bo looked at him with cold eyes, “Chi Xicheng, touch her again, and see what happens.”
Chi Xicheng knew his patience had reached its limit, indeed, he stopped tearing Lin Yiwei’s clothes, released his grip, and slapped her cheek, “Your face, even the noble Xie is smitten by it, truly a femme fatale.”
Lin Yiwei struggled hard, spat at him, enraged, Chi Xicheng raised his hand to slap her, Xie Bo’s voice rang out—
“Chi Xicheng!”
“She doesn’t understand the rules of the circle.” Xie Bo suddenly clenched his fist, veins bulging on the back of his hand, blood vessels in his temples pulsating, “My people, I’ll deal with them myself, it’s none of your business.”
Chi Xicheng smiled, “I can give her back to you, Xie Bo, but on one condition, I want your DS Racing Club.”
Xie Bo decisively refused, “Impossible.”
“Listen,” he smiled, whispering to Lin Yiwei, “In his eyes, you’re nothing. At least, I’m willing to offer three percent of my shares for you. Now, do you know who cares about you more?” Lin Yiwei glared fiercely at him.
Xie Bo suddenly let out a cold laugh, “Oh, Chi Xicheng, you don’t think I came here to negotiate terms with you, do you?”
“Xie Bo, how dare you be so arrogant? You’re on my turf now, and everyone around you is mine,” Chi Xicheng retorted. He pushed Lin Yiwei aside, calmly sitting on the sofa, “Well, I’m not really interested in your racing club. How about this, Xie Bo? You graciously pour me a cup of tea, and I’ll give her back to you.” Lin Yiwei looked at Xie Bo.
A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, but his black eyes exuded a chilling coldness.
Her heart tightened, fearing his rejection, because this was more humiliating than a straightforward exchange of benefits…
Yet, Xie Bo stood up and walked towards Chi Xicheng, elegantly lifting the teapot himself and pouring a cup of steaming Pu’er tea. “Enjoy it, Mr. Chi,” he said calmly.
Chi Xicheng grinned triumphantly, about to say something, but suddenly, the hot tea was mercilessly splashed on his face. The high temperature made Chi Xicheng yelp in surprise, instinctively flinching. Seizing the opportunity, Xie Bo grabbed Lin Yiwei’s hand and pulled her behind him.
Several bodyguards, seeing his sudden aggression, quickly surrounded him. Li Du immediately stood in front of Xie Bo, smiling, “Mr. Chi, many people saw us enter your private room. If so much as a hair on Mr. Xie’s head is harmed today, you won’t have a good time.”
Chi Xicheng, holding his scalded face, was furious, but he didn’t dare to do anything openly against Xie Bo. With a dark expression, he waved his hand, dismissing the bodyguards.
Xie Bo took off his racing jacket and draped it over Lin Yiwei, wrapping her tightly. The clothes carried his warmth and scent, providing comfort.
Xie Bo handed her over to Li Du, who led her to sit on the sofa, gently comforting her, “It’s okay, Miss Lin. With Mr. Bo here, no one will dare to bully you.”
Lin Yiwei trembled with lingering fear, unable to calm down.
Chi Xicheng wiped the tea off his face with a tissue, “This is outrageous, Xie Bo, you’ve gone too far. You won’t give me anything, won’t even bow down, and yet you want to take someone from me? Where’s the logic in that!”
“This is my logic,” Xie Bo scoffed, handing over his phone, “Besides, I haven’t come unprepared with my own sincerity. Take a good look, Mr. Chi.”
Chi Xicheng skeptically took the phone and opened the video, revealing chaotic and unsightly footage from a recent party. Of course, the footage was extremely disorderly and inappropriate… In each of these “high-end gatherings,” everyone’s phones were confiscated upon entry, but… there were still some who managed to slip through the cracks.
“Where did you get this from?” Chi Xicheng’s face turned pale, “You bastard, Xie Bo, dare you to backstab me!”
Calmly sitting back on the sofa, Xie Bo tidied Lin Yiwei’s messy hair, his movements graceful as if dressing his doll, “Chi Xicheng, I have my ways and cards to come see you. I’ve warned you before, don’t make an enemy out of me.”
If this video were to see the light of day, it would surely cause a huge uproar. Both the reputation of the Chi family’s young master and the Chi Corporation would suffer severe damage. His father would kill him. Not an exaggeration, he really would. Enraged, Chi Xicheng suddenly stood up, smashed a beer bottle, and pointed the sharp end at Xie Bo’s face.
Lin Yiwei anxiously grabbed his clothes.
Seizing the moment of Chi Xicheng’s hesitation, Xie Bo swiftly snatched the beer bottle from his hand and ruthlessly hit him on the head with it. Instantly, blood flowed down his forehead. Xie Bo calmly squatted down, patting Chi Xicheng’s face and wiping away the blood,
“You see, the only difference between you and me is that when you can’t bring yourself to do it, I have no qualms.”
After saying that, he threw away the bottle, retrieved his phone, “I’ll keep this evidence for now. If Mr. Chi behaves himself for a while, maybe I’ll consider deleting it.”
“Also…” he glanced at Lin Yiwei, “I don’t want your sister to know about her.” With that said, he gestured to Li Du.
Li Du quickly helped Lin Yiwei up, following behind Xie Bo as they walked out of the Baiyin Club’s private room. When they reached the elevator, Lin Yiwei completely lost her composure, her legs trembling, almost unable to stand, and collapsed to the ground. She was terrified!
“Mr. Bo, she can’t walk…” Li Du hesitantly suggested, “Should we call a doctor?”
Xie Bo turned around and glanced at her, seeing the girl trembling like a sieve, unable to even cry, her face deathly pale. “Scared?” he walked up to her, towering over her.
Lin Yiwei covered her chest, hugging herself tightly. After a few chokes, she finally started crying. She was so scared…
Xie Bo had initially wanted to ridicule her, saying she didn’t want his protection but was so frightened in front of Chi Xicheng. But seeing her panicked state, he didn’t say anything. He squatted down, lifting the girl up horizontally. Lin Yiwei instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her cheek on his chest, listening to his strong and steady heartbeat.
Feeling slightly reassured. Li Du quickly pressed the elevator button. Exiting the Baiyin Club, the autumn wind was piercingly cold, chilling to the bone.
Xie Bo placed Lin Yiwei in the back seat of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, and he also got in.
“Back to the school? Mr. Bo,” Li Du sat in the driver’s seat.
Just as Xie Bo sat down, Lin Yiwei leaned over and hugged him, like a cat snuggling up to its owner. At times like this, she knew she had to behave. He gently stroked her silky hair, saying, “Go to the Ramon Apartments.”
