Chapter 165
Shi Tingyu thought to prioritize her own safety first. Even if she had to return home to draw a portrait before catching someone, it would be fine.
But things didn’t go as planned.
The two men were in a tense state, glancing at anyone nearby, especially someone as noticeable as Shi Tingyu.
Just as Shi Tingyu was about to ride away, they blocked her path.
Shi Tingyu calmed herself down, furrowing her brow, and spoke sternly, “What are you two poor sods doing? Let me tell you, if you dare to mess with me, I will make sure you regret it!”
“In broad daylight, are you daring to harass women? Are you fabricating Chairman Quotations false?”
“Hurry up and move aside, or I’ll shout for help and accuse you of being hooligans!”
The two men were caught off guard by Shi Tingyu’s words, their eyes showing fear.
They suspected Shi Tingyu might have overheard their conversation but didn’t want things to escalate.
Seeing Shi Tingyu about to shout, one of the men in black said with a smile, “Comrade, don’t worry, we didn’t mean anything else.”
Shi Tingyu was assertive, “Then why are you blocking my way? I’ve seen men like you a lot. Don’t think you can get my attention like this!”
The two men exchanged glances, unsure if Shi Tingyu’s unreasonable and narcissistic remarks were effective. The man in black continued, “Comrade, we were just asking for directions. We really didn’t mean anything else. Look at our age, we both have children at home. How could we do anything inappropriate?”
“Yeah, Comrade, please don’t misunderstand us,” the other man in blue chimed in.
Shi Tingyu looked at them suspiciously, her patience wearing thin, “Alright, where do you need directions to?”
The man in black said, “Comrade, do you know where the restroom is around here?”
The man in blue: …
Shi Tingyu: …
Nowadays, it’s different from the future. There aren’t as many storefronts and public restrooms to use. Most men relieve themselves by the roadside or find secluded spots where few people pass by.
Adhering to her own persona without breaking character, Shi Tingyu’s face flushed with embarrassment, “And you say you’re not being hooligans! This area isn’t deserted. I don’t believe you can’t find a restroom. If you’re too embarrassed to ask someone, can’t you find a bush to use?”
The man in blue discreetly glared at the man in black.
This useless fool!
Nowadays, many restrooms are located outside the courtyard. If it’s inconvenient to use them by the roadside, they can easily find another family’s restroom to use.
The man in black also realized that his question just now was somewhat inappropriate, but now that the drama had unfolded, he had to continue with a stiff upper lip.
“Sorry, Comrade, we’re new here and unfamiliar with the area. We really didn’t mean anything else.”
Shi Tingyu snorted and mounted her bicycle to leave.
As the bicycle swayed, a military green water bottle in the basket caught the attention of the two men.
Although some people now use military water bottles, they are all families with someone in the military.
This woman is a military dependent!
This thought instantly filled their minds. Originally planning to send Shi Tingyu away, the two men changed their minds in a breath.
They ran towards Shi Tingyu’s direction.
Shi Tingyu kept an eye on their movements using spatial surveillance. As soon as they moved, she vigorously pedaled away.
However, the bike had just started moving, and it would take a moment to accelerate like a flying machine.
The man in black had astonishing explosive power. He took a long stride, reached out his arm, and grabbed the back seat of Shi Tingyu’s bike.
Due to inertia, Shi Tingyu lost her balance and fell off, but she reacted swiftly, catching herself in time.
Shi Tingyu’s mind raced. They had blocked her path, clearly not convinced by her earlier words. Perhaps she had inadvertently revealed something, prompting them to stop her from leaving.
This entire thought process flashed through her mind in an instant.
This was the parking area for the Supply and Marketing Cooperative, not crowded because not many people had bicycles. Next to it was an alley along the wall of the cooperative.
If they dragged her into that alley, it wouldn’t be good.
Thinking about these two men’s suspicious behavior, she could roughly guess they weren’t up to any good.
She felt calling for help was her best bet. She had her spatial ability, but she couldn’t use it in front of everyone, and going into the alley with them was out of the question.
It would be foolish of her to lead them into the alley.
She could enter her space, but if she killed them, her space would be in danger of exposure. Besides, these two weren’t the kind you could just kill.
Setting aside the fact that she had never killed anyone, even if she passed that barrier, she couldn’t kill these two. After all, she still needed to find out what they had said previously.
She suspected they might be planning to cause trouble during the mourning event. With so many people attending, the consequences could be disastrous.
Thinking this, Shi Tingyu suddenly shouted loudly, “Help… Mm!”
The moment she uttered a word, the tall man in black covered her mouth.
Seeing a comrade glance over, they flashed a look of ferocity, and the other quickly lowered his head.
Shi Tingyu struggled in vain, then gave up resistance and let them drag her into the alley.
As they relaxed, assuming she was just a weak woman without strength, Shi Tingyu seized the opportunity. Swiftly and accurately, she kicked the man in blue’s groin.
Agony struck, and the man in blue screamed, clutching his injury. He collapsed to the ground, doubled over in pain, and writhed.
Even the man in black was momentarily stunned by this turn of events.
Feeling the grip on her mouth loosen, Shi Tingyu exerted herself and suddenly elbowed the man in the ribs.
He was prepared this time, blocking her strike, but it allowed Shi Tingyu to break free from his grasp.
She was slightly surprised; the man seemed to know some martial arts.
She had also learned a few self-defense moves from Lu Weiguo for a few months, but she wasn’t necessarily better at fighting.
Seeing his companion incapacitated by a single kick, the man in black’s alarm bells rang louder. He became more convinced that she had overheard their conversation.
With this realization, a murderous intent flashed in the man’s eyes.
Shi Tingyu dashed towards the alley’s exit, shouting, “Help!”
The tall man in black, with his long legs, quickly intercepted her.
His fist came down like a hammer towards Shi Tingyu.
She agilely ducked aside.
Taking advantage of his unbalanced state, she landed a punch squarely in his abdomen.
The man in black straightened up, feeling that the pain in his stomach wasn’t as bad as he had imagined.
He knew that while this woman knew some moves, she couldn’t match his strength.
This realization calmed him somewhat, removing any hesitation from his actions.
Shi Tingyu’s agility prevented him from landing a blow.
The man in black hadn’t expected Shi Tingyu to be so slippery. A hint of urgency flashed in his eyes.
The commotion here was significant; he needed to resolve this quickly.
