Chapter 10
Chen Suihuan looked at the man in black running toward her and a smile appeared at the corner of her mouth. Then she stood up and stood in front of the man in black to block him.
She raised her hand and punched him. Chen Suihuan used to have a classmate who learned free fighting, and this classmate told her that if she wanted to hit hard, she should aim for the opponent’s nose bridge.
This punch from Chen Suihuan was aimed right at the man’s nose bridge. With one punch landing, the man in black’s nose bled from both nostrils as he was sent flying about two meters away.
Qin Fei and Xu Hao, who had just woken up, opened their eyes to see Chen Suihuan punch a man flying, and both of them felt like they weren’t fully awake yet.
Chen Suihuan was only about 1.65 meters tall and weighed less than 100 jin (about 50 kg). They must have been seeing things to witness her actually knocking a man flying like that.
“Catch the thief! Quickly catch this person, he’s a thief!” Chen Suihuan withdrew her fist and immediately pointed at the man in black, shouting loudly.
Her shout was especially loud, and everyone in the carriage was instantly startled awake, the drowsiness disappearing immediately.
Qin Fei and the others were even more shocked, their mouths wide open.
The man over there grabbed the smoking man and threw him onto the man in black. The two thieves lay on the ground like dead dogs.
Chen Suihuan smiled at the man but noticed that he was frowning, looking at her disapprovingly.
The man was really good-looking — sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, very healthy and full of aggression. However, his skin was somewhat dark, and when he frowned, he appeared a bit fierce.
Chen Suihuan felt intimidated by this kind of man. Seeing the man’s expression, she immediately dared not speak.
The smile on her face froze, and after glancing at the man again, she obediently stood straight and lowered her head without saying a word.
Lu Xingyan looked at the bold little girl in front of him. It seemed like she was frightened by him. The moment she met his gaze, her body trembled slightly.
The bright smile on her face quickly disappeared, and she quietly and obediently stood in front of him.
She sneaked a glance up at him and then quickly withdrew her eyes, like a child who had done something wrong and dared not face an adult who was about to get angry.
Lu Xingyan knew he looked fierce. Usually, just one glare from him was enough to make his subordinates behave obediently like quails.
Thinking that this was a delicate little girl, Lu Xingyan relaxed his furrowed brows.
“I’m not blaming you. But this is a grown man, and a repeat offender at that. Who knows if he’s carrying any weapons. If you dare to stop him, what if he hurts you?”
Chen Suihuan nodded and glanced at Lu Xingyan, whose face was not so dark. She said: “This was completely an instinctive reaction. I really didn’t think much about it.
Besides, I was born strong. Ordinary people aren’t my match at all…”
Originally, Chen Suihuan was bragging about her strength, but seeing Lu Xingyan’s brows beginning to furrow again, she hurriedly stopped talking.
“No matter how strong you are, you can’t beat knives and swords. Don’t be reckless like this next time.” Seeing Chen Suihuan shrink herself like a quail again, Lu Xingyan could only lecture her once more.
Chen Suihuan nodded obediently, but in her heart, she grumbled happily: this man must be an officer in the army, speaking like he was scolding someone.
While they spoke these few sentences, the attendant had already heard the noise and rushed over. Lu Xingyan helped the attendant to capture the two little thieves.
“Comrade Chen, what happened just now? Were those two men really thieves?” Qin Fei tugged at Chen Suihuan’s clothes and whispered.
The three men opposite, including Xu Tao, also cast curious glances.
Actually, not only the three men, almost everyone in the carriage had stood up to look at Chen Suihuan.
Chen Suihuan sat back beside Qin Fei and recounted the incident just now.
“Luckily, there was a military comrade sitting in our carriage. Thanks to him, those two thieves were caught.” Chen Suihuan said.
The mother and son heard Chen Suihuan’s description and felt a sudden chill of fear in their hearts. They couldn’t help but hold the boy tightly, their eyes reddening.
“These thieves really deserve to die, even stealing money meant to save lives. They must face retribution!”
“That’s right, it’s really thanks to that military comrade just now.”
“We also have to thank this little girl. I clearly saw that she knocked that thief down with one punch.”
Gao Yue’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Chen Suihuan. She reached out and pinched her arm, then said: “I saw it just now too. How are you so strong? Did you learn martial arts since you were little?”
Qin Fei also pinched her arm a couple of times and found the flesh soft and flabby, not muscular.
Chen Suihuan laughed and swatted their hands away: “I don’t know martial arts. I just have much more strength than ordinary people.”
Since her strength couldn’t be hidden, Chen Suihuan decided to just admit it.
Qin Fei and Gao Yue immediately looked at Chen Suihuan with envy: “If only I had that kind of strength, working in the countryside would be so much easier.”
Not only these two girls, but even the three boys opposite looked on with obvious admiration.
When working at the commune, work points were counted, and the amount of work determined the amount of grain received. If one worked too little, there might not be enough food to live on.
Having that kind of strength would certainly solve their worries about work points, which made them all very jealous.
The entire carriage was lively for over an hour before slowly calming down. After all, it was late at night, and the journey was tiring; everyone was feeling sleepy.
It was at this moment that Lu Xingyan woke up.
Chen Suihuan saw him and smiled at him. Lu Xingyan was momentarily stunned, then nodded and sat back down in his seat.
“That soldier is really tall!” Qin Fei whispered to Chen Suihuan, following her gaze to Lu Xingyan.
Chen Suihuan nodded. Lu Xingyan was probably about 1.88 meters tall, broad-shouldered with a narrow waist and long legs.
Sure enough, the handsome young men really did all go serve the country.
Thinking of her own younger brother, who hadn’t grown much yet but was already showing signs of being a fine-looking young man, Chen Suihuan nodded again.
Gao Yue also came over, looking a little hesitant. “Yes, he looks pretty good too, but he’s so stern, he reminds me of my grandfather. It’s a bit scary.”
The three of them nodded in agreement.
Since it was late at night, after the excitement died down, everyone felt sleepy again. This time, Chen Suihuan had no worries in her heart and soon fell asleep. When she opened her eyes, it was already the next morning.
The bumpy train journey lasted three or four days, and finally, they arrived at Hei Province.
When getting off the train, Chen Suihuan saw that soldier again; he was also getting off.
“You’re getting off at this station too? What a coincidence.” Chen Suihuan spoke to him.
Chen Suihuan had always been somewhat thin and had yellowish skin, but these past few days, after drinking the space water, her skin had become even fairer and clearer.
Coupled with her bright, clear eyes and the dimples that appeared when she smiled, Lu Xingyan was momentarily distracted as he looked at her.
But he quickly recovered and lifted Chen Suihuan’s bundle onto his back.
“Get off the train first. We’ll talk after we’re off.”
