Tang Momo held the deposit slip in her hand and stared at the letter again. Gu Chengze’s letter was short this time. He simply explained that he was about to go on a mission, one that was quite dangerous. He was afraid something might happen to him, so he hoped she could hand these over to Zhao Xiuli if necessary. 

At the end of the letter, there were various well-wishes for her. This kind of letter, which felt like a farewell message, made Tang Momo feel a little uncomfortable. She wished it had been just another one of his schemes. 

But she clearly knew it wasn’t. Carefully, she put the deposit slip back into the envelope and placed it in her drawer. 

She refused to be his messenger. If it was for his grandmother, he should handle it himself. Yes, that’s how it should be. 

“Momo, how should I solve this question?” 

Hu Jie’s voice brought Tang Momo back to reality. She quickly withdrew her hand from the drawer, “I’m coming.”

The dormitory door suddenly opened, and Yan Zi and Wang Qian looked at them excitedly. 

“What did you find out that made you so excited?” 

When Hu Jie saw them coming back, she put away the textbooks in her hands. 

“I found out what tomorrow’s prizes are.” 

Wang Qian’s face practically screamed, “Hurry up, ask me, ask me!”  

“What is it?” 

Hu Jie, always the supporter, quickly played along. 

“They’re giving out canned fruits and pork from the second factory!”  

Yanzi solved the mystery directly. 

“Canned fruits and pork.” 

To be honest, they were a little disappointed when they heard that it’s canned food. 

After all, the factory also produced canned goods, and they often smelled it, so they were tired of it by now. 

“The canned food from the second factory has always been better than ours, so maybe they’ll taste better.”

Seeing them quickly adjust their moods, the uncomfortable feeling Tang Momo had been hiding came back. 

Judging by the speed of sending letters, Gu Chengze must have gone on a mission now. Thinking of this, Tang Momo’s eyes couldn’t help but darken. 

Gu Chengze had never feared any mission before because he knew that even if something happened to him, the organization would take care of Zhao Xiuli. 

But this time, there was fear in his letter. He feared he might never see Tang Momo again. Along with that fear, he also felt thankful. Fortunately, their relationship wasn’t very close yet. If he were truly gone, she might be sad, but she would probably be able to move on quickly. 

The letter and the deposit slip he wrote for her were impulsive decision. He admitted he had schemed a bit, and the purpose of writing that letter was to make her remember him. 

Even if something happened to him, he hoped that he could leave a mark in her heart.

Gu Chengze couldn’t help but think about Tang Momo’s expression when she received the letter. She would probably worry about him, after all, she had been kind to him ever since. 

Before leaving, he thought of Xu Xiaoyun’s previous letter, but he quickly forced himself to forget it. After all, unexpected situations always exist, just like Xu Xiaoyun’s current situation.

Because of Gu Chengze’s letter, Tang Momo didn’t sleep well all night.

“I didn’t sleep well last night.” 

After Tang Momo finished speaking, she yawned. 

“Just use a hot compress first.” 

Hu Jie and Wang Qian quickly poured hot water to help her with her face. 

Fortunately, her swollen face disappeared quickly, except for the dark circles under her eyes. Tang Momo shook her head at them, “It’s fine, I’ll leave it like this.” 

Tang Momo glanced at them and urged them to leave quickly because they still needed to join the competition. She would be there later. 

After they all left, Tang Momo pinched her eyebrows and told herself not to think too much. This was just an ordinary mission in Gu Chengze’s career, and there was no need to worry too much. 

Tang Momo suppressed all the emotions in her heart and quickly went to the venue. 

Because people from the second factory came over, the factory was particularly lively today, and Tang Momo tried her best to blend in.

“Momo, did something happen at home?”

After Tang Momo finished speaking, she smiled at her. 

At that moment, Tang Momo made a decision. When Gu Chengze came back safely this time, she would give the two of them a chance. Of course, the premise was that he could accept her plan of not getting married for a while. 

If he can accept it, then they can give it a try; at least then they won’t have any regrets when they look back in the future. 

Tang Momo was the kind of person who acted on impulse. Thinking of this, she went back to the dormitory directly. Although she knew that Gu Chengze could not receive the letter now, she just wanted to reply quickly. 

Seeing Tang Momo running away, Wang Qian looked at Hu Jie with some confusion. “What’s wrong with Momo?” 

Hu Jie stared at Tang Momo’s leaving figure and shook her head, “I guess she probably figured something out.” ” 

By the time Tang Momo came back from the post office, the lottery event had already ended.

The two then got into a playful argument. Tang Momo stood to the side and watched them, a smile slowly appearing in her eyes. 

In the following days, Tang Momo was busy with work and had no time to think about Gu Chengze. 

Until one day, she was suddenly called to the communications room to take a phone call.  

Tang Momo was a little surprised. She had a guess in her mind about who called her at this time, but she couldn’t believe it; she couldn’t help but speed up her steps. 

When Tang Momo grabbed the phone, she noticed her hands were shaking. Before she could speak, a strange yet familiar voice came from the other end. “Tang Momo, does what you wrote in your letter still count?”  

Gu Chengze’s voice was slightly hoarse. No one knew how he felt at that moment. He couldn’t wait for a moment and wanted to hear her tell him personally. 

“You’re back?” 

Tang Momo’s tone was filled with surprise. 

“Well, fortunately, I came back alive.” 

Gu Chengze’s lips slowly raised into a smile. 

“I’m glad you’re okay.” 

Tang Momo’s tone became more relaxed as she spoke. 

“Is it true what you wrote in your letter? You said you were willing to give us a chance?” 

Gu Chengze continued to ask. 

Tang Momo was in a daze for a moment. Even though they were separated by the phone, it felt as if he was whispering right next to her ear. 

On the other end, Gu Chengze felt anxious. “Tang Momo, you’re not lying to me, are you?” 

“What could I possibly lie to you about? But what if, after trying it, we found out that we were not suitable?”  

Tang Momo felt that some things had to be explained clearly in advance. 

“I can change what’s not suitable. If it really doesn’t work, I will let go.” 

Gu Chengze’s tone became a little lower in his last words. 

Tang Momo’s heart felt as if someone had knocked her hard, and she couldn’t help but blurt out the words from her heart. “Gu Chengze, what do you like about me? Maybe I’m not as good as you think.” 

Gu Chengze’s chuckle came from the other side of the phone, followed by his serious tone. “Momo, you’re very good, really.” 

She was the only one who made him understand that there were still many things in this world that he cherished, and she was the only person in all these years who gave him hope. 

“Then starting from today, you will enter the internship period. We will decide whether to make you a regular employee after the year.” 

Tang Momo’s voice carried a hint of joy after saying those words.
