I’m Just a Passerby in a Time-Travel Rebirth Novel | Chapter 54

Xu Xiaoyun’s failure surprised Tang Momo. After all, she had been preparing for so long, but she still failed.

While Gu Chengze was not surprised by this result. After all, Xu Xiaoyun’s mind was not right. So how could someone like her focus entirely on studying?

Tang Momo didn’t think much about Xu Xiaoyun’s situation anymore since she needed to start preparing for school.

Once the school started, her cooperation with Aunt Huang would definitely not continue, so she had to draw a few more drawings while she had the chance.

Then by next year, with the reform and opening up, she would be able to do business openly and honestly.

When news spread that the two of them were admitted to college, the entire Qingshui Brigade became lively. Their brigade had actually produced two college students. Everyone looked at Zhao Xiuli and the Gu family with envy.

But the looks directed at the Tang family were mocking, ridiculing them for picking up the bad seed.

It’s not that the Tang family didn’t want to go over and repair their relationship, but before they could explain their intention, Tang Momo stopped them and said that they had already severed the relationship.

Now, listening to the brigade discuss how Tang Momo had been accepted into college and would surely succeed in the future, the Tang family members all lowered their heads to prevent others from seeing their regrets.

For such a big happy event, Zhao Xiuli and Zhang Xiaoli were already thinking about setting up a banquet. They were all family anyway, so they might as well serve up the banquet together.

Seeing their excited faces, Tang Momo just let them do what they want.

On the other side, Xu Xiaoyun still couldn’t believe that she failed the exam. She had been preparing for more than a year, but she couldn’t compare to Tang Momo and Gu Chengze who had been preparing for one month?

She originally thought that taking the college entrance examination would be a turning point in her life, but she didn’t expect that she would fail.

Now, whenever she went out, she could hear everyone praising Tang Momo and Gu Chengze. She couldn’t understand why it was them who got accepted out of so many people.

Xu Xiaoyun bite her lip tightly.

In the Educated Youth House, only one got admitted. The others were still preparing to try again next year. But Xu Xiaoyun’s mindset had completely broken down. Now, even looking at books made her feel nauseous.

She doesn’t want to wait until next year to take the exam again. She plans to go to a big city to make money after next year. With her memories from her past life, she was sure she could make a fortune.

On the day Tang Momo and Gu Chengze held their banquet, everyone from the brigade attended, including those from the Educated Youth House. They said they wanted to share in the happiness and perhaps ask for some tips so they might get accepted next year, too.

Xu Xiaoyun looked at the deserted Educated Youth House and then thought of the excitement on the other side, she couldn’t help but clenched her fists.

The success of getting into college seemed to temporarily distract everyone from the topic of marriage.

The two had similar scores but did not choose the same school. Fortunately, the schools were not far apart.

Under the reluctant gazes of their families, the two boarded the train to pursue their studies. For the first time, Tang Momo felt that the sound of the green train was reassuring.

Gu Chengze first sent Tang Momo to school to report. After Gu Chengze left, everyone knew that Tang Momo’s partner was studying at the university next door.

Tang Momo don’t know what to say. She guessed that was probably his intention. Yet, she felt strangely happy about it.

Life in college was different from what Tang Momo had imagined; it wasn’t as busy as she thought, but it wasn’t exactly easy either.

Both of them lived in the dormitory, but Tang Momo took advantage of her free time to start looking for a place to rent. After all, she would be able to do business openly next year.

Once people get busy, time becomes very fast, and in the blink of an eye, it’s New Year’s Day.

When they returned home for the Chinese New Year, the two families naturally discussed marriage. The strange thing was that Tang Momo doesn’t feel against it, while Gu Chengze kept saying there was no need to rush.

Zhao Xiuli slapped Gu Chengze on the head, “What nonsense are you talking about?”

Tang Momo couldn’t help but smile. She knew Gu Chengze was trying to take the blame.

Zhang Xiaoli glanced at her and saw the smile on her face, knowing that this matter must be related to her, but she didn’t say anything.

“You two shouldn’t listen to him. If you ask me, they’re not getting any younger. How about picking a date to get married?”

After Zhao Xiuli finished speaking, she looked at Zhang Xiaoli.

“Grandma, we’re still in school.”

Gu Chengze had a look of disapproval. He remembered that Tang Momo didn’t want to get married so early; he didn’t want to make things difficult for her.

“What’s wrong with going to school? I heard there are even pregnant women going to school.”

Zhao Xiuli rolled her eyes at him.

“Let’s wait until our next vacation; time is too tight now.” Tang Momo said gently.

Gu Chengze raised his head abruptly when he heard this; his black eyes seemed to want to see through Tang Momo.

“What Momo said makes sense. Your mother and I will look for an auspicious date in advance. When the time comes, all you have to do is come back; we’ll take care of everything else.”

After all the adults left, Gu Chengze sat down next to her, took her hand, and said softly, “Have you really thought about it?”

Tang Momo pretended to be displeased and glanced at him, “Are you thinking of backing out now?”

“Of course not. I’m just too happy and can’t believe this is real.”

Gu Chengze thought they would at least wait until after graduating from college.

During this time, he had a rough idea of Tang Momo’s future plans and thought she had never considered marriage.

“But even if we get married, I won’t be having kids anytime soon.”

She was about to get busy, and she didn’t have the time or energy to have a baby.

“It’s okay not to give birth.”

Gu Chengze had always disliked children, not to mention that he felt he might not be suitable to be a father, so he had not thought about children yet.

“Then let’s do it. When the time comes, we will get the certificate, and we can live together openly.”

Tang Momo had long wanted to move out; living in a dorm was really inconvenient.

“Okay, I’ll listen to you.”

After Gu Chengze finished speaking, he lowered his eyes and stared at his hands. He was afraid that Tang Momo would see his trembling hands. He had never thought that he would get married one day.

At first, when Zhang Xiuli started arranging a marriage for him, he only thought about it casually. But now it was different; he was really looking forward to starting his own small home with Tang Momo and having a family in the future.

Thinking of the word home, Gu Chengze’s heart couldn’t help but soften.

 ***

Because of school, when they returned, the twins pestered Tang Momo every day, as if they wanted to make up for the days she spent in school.

But the happy days quickly passed, and soon it was time to go back to school. Except for the two little ones, everyone else looked happy.

After all, parting is for a better reunion.

During this separation, Tang Momo and Gu Chengze focused on their studies while Zhao Xiuli and Zhang Xiaoli busily prepared for their wedding.

In addition to her studies, Tang Momo began preparing to earn her first pot of gold.

On Gu Chengze’s end, besides studying, he was also quietly preparing for marriage. He wanted to give her the best.

In Tang Momo’s opinion, marriage was just a formality to make their relationship official, so she was somewhat surprised to see Gu Chengze, his eyes red from holding the marriage certificate.

Gu Chengze raised his eyes; they were full of emotion, and his tone was even gentler. “Momo, we’re a family now.”

This sentence instantly broke down Tang Momo’s defenses. She rushed into his arms and said softly, “Yes, we’re a family now.”

“Momo, thank you.”

Thank you for being in my life.

I honestly feel bad for Xu. She’s not that smart.
