Just as the eldest’s emotions were steadily improving, her second son voluntarily approached Wu Qingluan, “Mom, I’ve fallen for a girl, but I lost her. Do you have any advice?”
Wu Qingluan was taken aback by the directness of her second child. What was happening? Were her children really getting to the age of dating?
She cleared her throat, “Son, tell me your story.”
Compared to the adventures of the eldest and the youngest son, the second child’s journey seemed downright heartwarming.
So, one day, after entering the Ghost Realm, the second son first visited his uncle, Yu Xianzhi, who was a big shot in the Ghost Realm.
Yu Xianzhi knew that his nephew had always been calculating and didn’t worry at all about his journey. He just let him enjoy the pleasures of the Ghost Realm and didn’t bother with him, going off to have fun on his own.
The Ghost Realm had its own peculiarities, but none of them disturbed the second child’s peace of mind. He had long understood the laws of heaven and earth, knew the impermanence of fate, and realized that everything had to follow the natural course. Once he entered the mortal world, he had to abide by its rules.
And so, the second son leisurely embarked on his adventure in the Ghost Realm. Every day, he either wandered around here or chatted with the lingering spirits, going about his business until that one day.
As the second son strolled along the banks of the Lethe River, he encountered a living soul.
The so-called living soul is the soul of a person who has not yet truly died. It might be due to shock or other reasons, causing the soul to temporarily leave the body. These living souls will automatically return to their bodies after a period of time, and if someone requests their return through a ritual, they can return immediately.
Therefore, the second son only gave the living soul a passing glance and intended to leave. However, to his surprise, upon closer inspection, he recognized this living soul as someone he had encountered before.
On his eighth birthday, during a full moon, the second son lost control of his divine power and couldn’t maintain his human form. Fortunately, he noticed it early and managed to avoid being seen by humans. He transformed back into his original shape in the school restroom and jumped out of the window.
However, the second child had a stroke of bad luck. Just as he ran out of the school’s back gate, he was captured by an old scavenger with a cloth bag.
The old man, upon seeing a small white fox that had run out of the school, was delighted. He thought he had struck gold because selling this fox would surely fetch him a good sum of money, which he could use to buy delicious food for his granddaughter.
The old man happily carried the second son home, took him out of the bag, and tied him securely with a rope. He even allowed a skinny little girl to watch him closely.
The second son had never experienced such a low point in his life since he was born. He was both angry and anxious, but without his divine powers, he couldn’t break free.
The little girl noticed his distress and, while her grandfather was cooking, secretly untied the rope around the second son’s body and carried him outside, setting him free.
The second son had encountered many mischievous children who would harm small animals without a second thought. He didn’t expect this ugly girl to be so kind and just release him like that.
However, before letting him go, the little girl did something unexpected. She gently touched her wet nose to the second son’s nose and said, “You are so beautiful, I really like you. You must miss your mother, right? Go find her quickly.”
The second son took a few steps but kept looking back.
Later, when he had returned to his normal self, he went back to the place where the little girl and her grandfather lived. He couldn’t exactly explain why he was doing this, but in his fox clan, they believed in repaying kindness. The little girl had helped him, and if he didn’t repay that kindness, he might owe even more in the future.
The second son brought a box of gold and silver jewels with him. Seeing that the place where the little girl and her grandfather lived was in poor condition, he was sure they needed money. By giving them the money, he considered the favor repaid.
However, to his surprise, that area had already been included in a redevelopment project, and the old man and the little girl had moved away.
The second son searched the area but couldn’t find any trace of the little girl. Frustrated, he reluctantly returned home.
For all these years, the second son had never owed anyone anything, and this one favor weighed heavily on his mind. He knew that if he didn’t repay this kindness, karma would not spare him, and advancing in his cultivation would become even more difficult.
As the second son gazed at the suddenly appearing young woman, the phrase, “In my dreams, I search for him in countless places, but when I suddenly turn around, he is right there in the dimly lit streets,” flashed through his mind.
This young woman’s soul was none other than the girl who had saved the second child all those years ago. By now, she must be around sixteen or seventeen years old.
The young woman was feeling lost. She had come here while on her way to visit her grandfather’s grave but had suddenly found herself in this place. When she saw the second son, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, she stopped him to ask for directions. However, when she looked closely at his face, she was left speechless.
My, where did this heavenly being come from? How could a guy be this good-looking?
The second son looked down at the young woman in front of him and found it quite curious. This girl had been a skinny little thing when she was a child, but now that she had grown up, she looked quite attractive.
“Excuse me, where is this place? Do you know how to get back to the city center?”
The second son smirked and said, “I know the way. Follow me.”
Leaning on his mother’s shoulder, the second child sighed, “Mom, after helping her soul return to her body, I couldn’t forget about her. But now, I’ve lost her again, and I can’t find out where she is.”
Wu Qingluan felt deeply relieved. These experiences seemed to align perfectly with the unique personalities of her triplets. Her second son excelled in everything but lacked a sense of connection with humans. However, his encounter with the girl who had saved him in the Ghost Realm had rekindled his compassion for humanity. Strong individuals, driven by their compassion, became even stronger. This transformation in her second son finally put her fears to rest. She couldn’t help but shed a few tears of joy, realizing that her son wouldn’t become a destructive force.
As for the third son, after staying with the messenger of Narakaloka, for a while at home, the two of them reached some sort of agreement and embarked on a journey together.
While it was difficult to let them go, she understood that her children were growing up and needed to forge their own paths. Her role was to let them go and silently offer her blessings, ready to appear when they needed her.
This adventure had brought about a small turning point in the life paths of the triplets. The eldest, who aspired to become the God of War, had gone to the Divine Realm, inherited the position of the Head of the Twelve Palaces, and was determined to retrieve Feng. The second Son, who had always been indifferent to human life, had taken up the role of the Fox Clan’s leader, safeguarding the peace between the Fox Clan and the human race, driven by gratitude towards the human girl. The youngest, the mischievous and carefree child, had tamed the Abyss Envoy to be his Dao companion. Together, they embarked on a journey of spiritual growth, seeking the true essence of life, and he had become the most spiritually awakened among them.
Subsequently, the Abyss Envoy was influenced by the third child and finally broke free from the cycle of the Abyss, returning to the cycle of reincarnation. The third child was formally accepted as a disciple by the God of Wealth, Li Xiao, continuing to cultivate and help the people while patiently waiting for his Abyss Envoy to find its way back and reunite with him.
As for Wu Qingluan and Yu Xuanwei, they lived happily together, enjoying a harmonious and blissful life for all eternity.
Everyone had a bright future.
