Chapter 103 1/2
After Jiang Li graduated, he settled in District D5, where the cost of living is somewhat lower than in the central district.
After successfully developing a gland tumour drug, he received a million yuan from a grateful patient. Jiang Li pondered for a long time before accepting the money, thinking he would use it to raise his child. When the drug hit the market and he received his share, he would find a way to repay the money.
Strangely, after some time, another fifty thousand yuan appeared in his account inexplicably.
Jiang Li called the bank, suspecting a mistaken transfer. The bank investigated and told him that the money was from someone who appreciated Jiang Li’s contribution to medicine but could not disclose the name.
Wealthy people express gratitude in such a direct manner.
To be cautious, Jiang Li asked the Old Demon King if he knew the account that made the transfer.
A few days later, the Old Demon King mysteriously told him, “Remember the first person, President Jiang, who transferred money to you?”
“The second person who transferred money is President Jiang’s ex-husband.”
“They probably wanted to thank you for curing President Jiang.”
Jiang Li asked, “Does he know that President Jiang has already transferred money?”
“He does.”
The Old Demon King, sighing over the lingering feelings, then recommended a new compilation job to Jiang Li. Jiang Li did the job quickly and well. The essential items he needed during his pregnancy were all federally subsidised, and he accumulated personal assets of 1.6 million yuan.
Without financial pressure, Jiang Li became even more determined to develop affordable drugs in the future.
His neighbour was an artist named Yuan Hua, who was almost deceived by a scumbag into giving up her gland. Jiang Li saw through the scumbag’s trick in time, and to avoid further entanglement, they moved out overnight.
Yuan Hua had a family in the central district. After almost being deceived while renting alone, she decided to move back home and invited Jiang Li to live with her family.
Yuan Hua’s family was very hospitable, and Jiang Li rented the house next door, just a step away from the research institute, sharing a room with Yang Xiaoli, who worked in the central district.
Before giving birth, Jiang Li hired a nanny.
He had savings to afford a nanny, avoiding sending his child to the federal free daycare.
When the little one turned a month old, Yang Xiaoli gifted the latest high-tech anklet—iin addition to location and health monitoring, it would automatically alert if removed or if the child left the house.
When the little one was seven months old, Jiang Li applied for a job at the research institute.
He completed the experiments at the institute and did the data analysis at home.
He worked at his desk at night, with the little one sitting in a round chair, drinking formula, and watching his father.
When the little one was one and a half years old, he started babbling and expressing his needs.
Jiang Li tried to meet them all.
He celebrated many holidays with the baby, buying every holiday gift he had longed for but never received in his own childhood.
During the New Year, there were red envelopes; during the Lantern Festival, lanterns; during the Dragon Boat Festival, egg bags; and Yuan Hua painted a little tiger on the baby’s face.
celebrating Children’s Day on June 1st, making mooncakes together during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and in December, holding the little one’s hand to write crooked spring couplets.
Yang Xiaoli, who grew up in an orphanage, used to disdain celebrating holidays. Now, he looks forward to playing childish games just like the little one.
He couldn’t help but remark, “Thank goodness for the money from the wealthy donors, Jiang Li. You are really generous with spending on the kid.”
Jiang Li used to be very frugal with himself.
Jiang Li replied, “As long as I don’t spend it all.”
He could earn money himself, and his salary would continue to increase.
However, Jiang Wangxing’s activity level was increasing as well.
The nanny said she couldn’t keep up and wanted to resign.
Jiang Li hired another nanny.
But it still wasn’t enough.
Jiang Li had no choice but to send the little one to daycare for half a day to burn off his energy.
Playing with a group of kids indeed consumed a lot of energy. Jiang Wangxing would play until he was as dirty as a little monkey. One day, just before it was time to go home, he suddenly disappeared from the group of children. The daycare teacher found him based on his tracker; he was sitting in the bathroom sink, with three chairs stacked up as steps for him to climb up.
The faucet was running with a loud gush.
Little Jiang Wangxing had a brush in one hand and was holding his ankle with the other, diligently scrubbing away.
Human toddlers are incredibly flexible. Jiang Wangxing was curled up in the sink, scrubbing his once dirty feet until they were as white and plump as little steamed buns.
He didn’t even miss the spaces between his toes.
When the brush couldn’t reach between his toes, little Jiang Wangxing got frustrated and opened his mouth to lick them.
The teacher quickly pressed down his toes just in time.
Jiang Wangxing looked up in surprise when he couldn’t lick his toes. “Huh? ”
“What are you doing, little Wangxing? ”The teacher asked kindly, wondering how to hand over such a wet child to his parents.
Jiang Wangxing replied, “Daddy said to go to school happily and come home clean.”
The teacher was speechless. Did his dad really teach him that?
Nevertheless, the little one did manage to scrub himself clean. He was the only one in the daycare who loved walking barefoot, stepping on everything.
The daycare teacher had met his dad, a cool and calm Omega. This energy definitely came from his other Alpha dad.
The teacher changed the little one into dry backup clothes and handed him over to his dad, who came to pick him up.
“Daddy! ”The little one jumped into Jiang Li’s arms, proud of how clean he was.
Jiang Li picked him up and thanked the teacher, “Thank you, teacher.”
The teacher hesitated before asking, “Did you teach him to go to school happily and come home clean? ”
At first, it didn’t sound wrong, but…
Jiang Li looked at the little one and asked, “Is that what Daddy said? ”
The little one nodded without hesitation.
Jiang Li corrected, “Daddy said to come home safely.”
Little Jiang Wangxing tilted his head and said, “Oh, that’s right.”
The teacher, half laughing and half crying, explained what had happened: “He could catch a cold like this.”
“Sorry for the trouble,” Jiang Li apologised sincerely. “I’ll reteach him at home.”
“Wangxing, say goodbye to the teacher.”
Jiang Wangxing sweetly said, “See you tomorrow, teacher.”
Jiang Li carried him for a while, then, feeling his wrist ache, set the little one down to walk on his own. “Little one, you can’t play with water alone. It’s only May, and it’s easy to catch a cold.”
Threatening him with getting a shot if he caught a cold was useless; Jiang Li had never seen him cry.
Jiang Li knew his son’s strength well. Even when he was swaddled, his kicks were powerful. When he took him for his first vaccination, he specifically asked Yuan Hua to come along, just in case he couldn’t handle his son.
It turned out that the little one didn’t cry at all and even looked curiously at other kids crying, as if wondering, “Why are they crying over something like this? ”
