Chapter 106 1/2
Cen Lang had a vague feeling of forgetting something important every time he woke up these three years.
But after morning training, with the dazzling sunlight shining on his face, he was convinced that every day in the past was just like this, without any exceptions.
When Jiang Li appeared with his son, Cen Lang suddenly realised that the person he had been waiting for had entered his life.
He inexplicably lingered outside the Institute of Pheromone for three hours, tormented by thoughts. He, the strongest Alpha in the galaxy, wouldn’t consider becoming a father, would he?
Cen Lang called the psychology professor, Yu Zhaoye, to alleviate his distress.
“Cen Team? Is something wrong?” Yu Zhaoye rolled his eyes.
Cen Lang: “I’ve recently become interested in being a father.”
Yu Zhaoye: “Who do you want to be a father to?”
Cen Lang: “A child who is about twenty-six months old—”
He paused, realising that the age mentioned by the child didn’t match his birthday four months later.
“About that age.”
Yu Zhaoye sharply remarked, “May I ask about the appearance of this child’s father?”
Cen Lang: “Handsome.”
Yu Zhaoye: “Clearly, you are interested in the child’s father.”
It was obvious that if Cen Lang were willing to be a father to someone, it would be incredibly fortunate for the child. He could directly propose to recognise the child as his own father. What was there to hesitate about?
Cen Lang: “Am I that shallow?”
Yu Zhaoye: “If not, why would you call me?”
There were only two possibilities when Cen Lang called him: either he wanted to catch criminals or he wanted to commit a crime.
Yu Zhaoye irresponsibly speculated, “They’re probably a happy family of three, right?”
Cen Lang: “I don’t know.”
Yu Zhaoye chuckled. “Are you afraid to find out?”
Cen Lang confidently replied, “It seems like they’re raising the child as a widower.”
Yu Zhaoye: “Yeah, most likely divorced by now.”
Cen Lang: “You also think so, right?”
Yu Zhaoye indifferently replied, “I don’t think so.”
After hanging up the phone, Yu Zhaoye laughed until his stomach hurt.
He never imagined such a scenario. He thought Cen Lang would always be aloof. Three years ago, when Cen Lang’s storm syndrome struck, despite the intense pain, he didn’t fall into the Lin family’s trap. No one could shake his rationality.
Yu Zhaoye still doubted Cen Lang’s self-healing claim regarding the storm syndrome, but the test results were clear: Cen Lang hadn’t used any pheromones, yet the storm syndrome had subsided.
Laughing aside, Yu Zhaoye was a bit worried that Cen Lang might do something irrational. The current situation couldn’t be judged by experience alone.
He called back, intending to persuade Cen Lang to do good, but Cen Lang told him that he had found out that Jiang Li was a single parent.
“It’s okay; don’t call me. I’m busy,” Cen Lang said casually.
Yu Zhaoye: “…”
Cen Lang strode towards the garbage station and happened to overhear Jiang Wangxing describing how he planned to climb into the old refrigerator and detonate it from the inside.
“Uncle!” Jiang Wangxing keenly spotted Cen Lang’s presence. “Can you dismantle the refrigerator?”
Cen Lang: “Yes.”
He had even dismantled battleships before.
Jiang Wangxing: “Will you dismantle it with me, Uncle?”
Cen Lang readily agreed and borrowed a toolbox from the station manager, which was equipped with hammers, screwdrivers, and everything they needed.
Jiang Wangxing: “Wow!”
The old refrigerator was probably full of bacteria. Jiang Li glanced at Cen Lang, then at his son, and chose to leave. Out of sight, out of mind. He didn’t want to be involved in what his son wanted to do, and if someone else was willing to accompany him, that would be best.
“You guys go ahead with this. Wangxing, I’ll come pick you up in an hour,” Jiang Li said.
Cen Lang was stunned.
Huh?
Just like that? He trusted him so much?
Cen Lang: “My name is Cen Lang. Here’s my ID. Keep it safe. After we finish dismantling, I’ll bring the child back to you.”
Then he might as well stay for a while.
Jiang Li opened the electronic smart ID, and a dazzling array of qualifications appeared on the page: spaceship pilot’s licence, aircraft pilot’s licence, Third Military Academy permanent access card, space base chip card… There was even an electrician’s license. Taken together, it constituted an impressive resume.
Cen Lang stood with his hands behind his back, demonstrating his comprehensive skills.
Jiang Li saw that the issue date was three years ago, and the person in the photo was no different from now, but Jiang Li’s fingers burned a little.
Was this how the Alphas in the underground city were?
“Thank you,” Jiang Li said, closing the ID page and exchanging contact information with Cen Lang. “Wangxing, Dad needs to go back to work. If you need anything, call Dad.”
Before leaving, Jiang Li said to the manager, “Keep an eye on them.”
The manager replied, “Dr. Jiang, don’t worry. I’ll watch them closely.”
Jiang Li gave him injections for his old leg problem every week, and he always felt indebted.
Jiang Wangxing dragged the toolbox with all his might. “Goodbye, Dad.”
Cen Lang squatted down and said, “Give me the screwdriver.”
Jiang Wangxing happily played the role of the assistant. “Here you go, Uncle.”
The refrigerator lay horizontally, and Cen Lang rotated the screws at the bottom. Jiang Wangxing opened the refrigerator door and climbed in on a stool.
The scene looked like a handsome but down-and-out garbage sorter and his two-year-old son, who had to walk around the garbage dump because there was no one to take care of him.
If someone took a photo and uploaded it online, they might receive some kindness.
