Chapter 108 1/2
“At first, Cen Lang felt quite comfortable being called ‘Uncle’ by the little cub, but as soon as this title was mentioned alongside others, Cen Lang immediately wanted to change his identity.
For example, to ‘Dad.’
The words ‘Uncle’ pricked Cen Lang’s inherent possessiveness.
Today, standing here, no Alpha should even think about getting close to Jiang Li!
“I will also take care of your dad,” Cen Lang told Jiang Wangxing solemnly. “You—”
He wanted to say how Yang took care of Jiang Li, implying he could do better, but he was afraid of hearing an answer he didn’t want to hear.
“You can supervise me.”
Jiang Wangxing: “Okay.”
Jiang Li closed his eyes; his extraordinarily sensitive sense of smell allowed him to faintly detect Alpha pheromones, adding fuel to the fire.
He pulled up the blanket, covering his head, trying to block out the pheromones, but it was futile.
How should he explain that anyone taking care of him would cause impotence and that there was no need for jealousy?
The cub’s random words were too suggestive, and Cen Lang was too sensitive.
But explaining felt strange too. Why should he explain his privacy to Cen Lang? Besides, Cen Lang hadn’t become impotent. Not believing was one thing, believing was another—they were too compatible, which would inflate the Alpha.
Jiang Li muttered, “Take him out to play.”
Ordinary people could function normally with inhibitors, but Jiang Li called Yang Xiaoli over just in case; after all, the cub was still young.
The increasingly weakened state was a symptom only when an Alpha marked him appeared by his side.
If this continued, Cen Lang would also notice something.
Inhibitors were actually useless for Cen Lang, but he followed Jiang Li’s instructions. Otherwise, who would take care of the little cub?
After going out and closing the door, he extracted information from the cub’s mouth: “What does your dad like to eat? I’ll make some supper.”
“The uncle, Dad, loves nutritional supplements.”
Cen Lang blurted out, “Cub, call me—”
Cen Lang closed his eyes. He was too impatient. What was the point of coaxing a child? The person inside, during his sensitive period, was overly clear-headed.
“I’m the captain of the Space Fleet Rescue Team; you can call me Captain Cen.” Such a special title, unique across the galaxy, from cubs to chiefs, all could call him Captain Cen.
The rescue team was just one of Cen Lang’s many tasks, and he felt this identity was easy for the cub to understand.
Jiang Wangxing: “Captain of the rescue team? Like Captain Wangwang?”
Cen Lang’s face stiffened. Why did it sound like Captain Wangwang? Could it be that Wang Wang really had a connection with this father and son?
Jiang Wangxing explained that Wangwang was a rescue dog in an animated series.
Cen Lang: “I still prefer you to call me Captain Cen.”
Jiang Wangxing was easy to negotiate with: “Okay, Uncle Cen.”
Cen Lang had only known the cub for a day, yet he had mastered the art of taking care of him: watch him every moment.
Things like cooking in the kitchen while leaving the cub in the living room to play with toys—Cen Lang knew on his first day in office that he couldn’t do that.
He found a carrier, put the cub on his back, and became the most handsome family cook in the galaxy.
The cub, who would get tired after a few minutes in the nanny’s arms, was like a small kitten behind Cen Lang, blinking his eyes as he watched Cen Lang take out vegetables and meat from the refrigerator, wash them, cut them, and cook them.
Sensitive periods consumed energy, and food was better than nutritional supplements.
Cen Lang’s broad and stable back, having carried guns and bullets, made Jiang Wangxing, who was watching with relish one moment, fall asleep on Cen Lang’s back the next.
Cen Lang smiled. The cub’s shutdown mode was indeed peculiar. If it weren’t for this, he wouldn’t have recognised Jiang Li.
He served the noodles and knocked on Jiang Li’s door. “I made noodles; can I come in?”
A muffled “Hmm” came from inside.
Jiang Li propped himself up on the mattress and saw Cen Lang naturally carrying the cub on his back, feeling a moment of familiarity.
He suddenly had the feeling as if they had known each other for a long time, as if they had always lived under the same roof with Cen Lang.
Cen Lang’s tone softened. “I always feel like it’s a reunion with you and Wangxing.”
Jiang Li’s brow twitched.
“Do you think there is such a thing as past lives?” Cen Lang received a series of speculations from Wangwang: “I forgot the last life, but I still remember you.”
Jiang Li: “Go out; I’ll eat by myself.”
Here’s the translation of the continuation:
“Cen Lang placed the cub in the guest room and didn’t close his eyes all night.
Jiang Li endured a night of torment. The next day, as soon as the nanny arrived, he immediately gave himself an extra dose of inhibitors, grabbed his briefcase, and walked out of the bedroom door towards the entrance hall in a hurry, rushing to work.
If Cen Lang wouldn’t leave, then he would!
“Wait!” Cen Lang immediately took off his apron. “I’ll walk you out.”
