Pheromone Collision
Pheromone Collision Chapter 11.2

Chapter 11 2/2

Jiang Li quietly left.

Cen Lang seemed to sense something when he folded his tablet and said, “Dr. Xiao Jiang.”

“Digging, honey, aren’t you going to take a look?”
Jiang Li: “What?”

“Captain!” A soldier pointed at the nearest excavator. “According to orders, preserve the beehive intact!”

Jiang Li followed the gaze, and two excavators worked together to shovel up a whole piece of soil, carefully placing it on the open ground.

Groups of bees buzzed around, which was very distressing.

“…” Can’t you focus on work when it’s time to?

His intuition last night was correct; Cen Lang was indeed on reconnaissance, and he deceived him with nonsense about finding fungi to dig honey.
Cen Lang said seriously, “The clues given above indicate that there may be an interferer here, just confirmed last night.”

On Earth, satellite positioning could rely on orbiting satellites, but for interstellar spaceships’ navigation, a planetary positioning system was needed.

To occupy a planet, you first need to establish a signal transmission station and form a star network.

Earth was no exception; Cen Lang noticed that the signal in a certain area on Earth weakened for a few seconds when he returned from space. After investigation, the N9 area was suspected.

The outer layers of soil were continuously peeled away by the excavator, leaving a shell-shaped mound of soil, revealing a portion three meters high, six meters in diameter, and an unknown size underground.

Forty years ago, during the global war, interferers were launched frequently. This interferer probably wasn’t checked at the time. The Ames Federation took advantage of the majority of N9 residents choosing to hibernate, secretly sending people to cover it with soil, turning it into a mountain. It remained silent for decades and was only recently activated after being caught by Cen Lang.

Jiang Li’s gaze stopped on a two-story building opposite the hill. “Have you controlled these people?”

With such a large disturbance, those who did not participate in the hibernation plan would definitely notice. Jiang Li went through the list in his mind; this family was the only one nearby that stayed awake the entire time.

Unpleasant as it sounded, the sacrificial spirit of this family was probably not as strong as others, making the possibility of being bought off and kept in the dark higher.

Cen Lang raised an eyebrow and said, “You’re very clever.”

The final layer of soil was about to be opened; the interferer emitted radiation, and Jiang Li, not a military man, didn’t need to stay here.

“It’s dusty here; you can go back.”

Cen Lang noticed that Jiang Ping had a bit of cleanliness OCD.

Jiang Li nodded and didn’t mention his own discovery. He went back and wrote a report and submitted it to the accompanying military doctor, who would be responsible for the treatment of these people.

After that day, Cen Lang, as if his mission were complete, was recalled, and the team’s task was handed over to the deputy captain.

Jiang Li was not surprised at all; Cen Lang’s demeanor was extraordinary. However, unexpectedly, he received a jar of honey, handed over by the deputy captain. It was enough for him to have a honey-nutrient solution every day.

“Don’t worry; the wild bees have been collected in beehives. The captain paid for sugar to exchange for honey for the bees.”

“Oh, the captain also said he wore gloves to collect the honey.”

Jiang Li: “…”

After the internship period, Jiang Li returned to the Third Military Academy with a large force. His mentor praised Jiang Li’s performance, with a hint of mystery: “The military will decrypt a batch of files about pheromones soon, and you will be very interested.”

“Do you have plans for the winter break?” Wang Xuning knew that Jiang Li would find part-time jobs during both the winter and summer breaks. “If you haven’t decided yet, you might want to make time to attend the pheromone symposium led by the Cen family. They have invited many experts to discuss their recent research directions.”

Jiang Li: “I’ll remember that.”

Mentor: “How’s your thesis coming along?”

Jiang Li’s research focused on adenoma drugs, and he had enough data to write his thesis and conclude the experiments.

“The structure is done, and I’ll send it to you…”

Wang Xuning: “Just a casual question; send it to me when you’ve finished everything. You know the details better than I do. Alright, go home and rest today; don’t go to the lab.”

Jiang Li hadn’t returned to the dormitory for a week; there were even footprints on the floor, and Wang Tianhu’s trash can was overflowing.

In the past, he would have cleaned up as soon as he put down his backpack, but today Jiang Li has more important things to do.

He bought another pregnancy test.

If it didn’t work this time, it really wouldn’t work!

Jiang Li squatted in the bathroom, staring at the display area of the pregnancy test, his long eyelashes drooping, serious, and persistent. If the heavens were a bit soft-hearted, they would want to fulfill all his wishes just by looking.

The phone in his hand vibrated; Jiang Li glanced at it, a notice from the medical school’s group.

Some people in the group had already seen it: “What is Storm Syndrome? Such a new term; what’s the difference from pheromone runaway?”

“Humanoid pheromone balancer? Damn, it’s truly the military’s treasure!”

“Hard to imagine a twenty-year pheromone storm.”

“This balancer’s principle of activating the gland has to be memorized; it’s definitely going to be on this year’s exam.”

“So, it’s being revealed because there’s no way to treat it. Will our military not have this big weapon in the future?”

“It’s so miserable, contributing a lifetime to the Federation, and in the end, being locked up like a criminal.”

“It says there were attempts to treat it; I thought it succeeded, but it failed.”

Jiang Li looked at these messages scrolling, a big question mark appearing above his head. How does this description sound so much like the person he met in the underground city?

What does “thought it succeeded” but “failed” mean?

He neither got pregnant nor was cured; Dr. Xiao Jiang was really starting to doubt life!

Jiang Li quickly logged into his account and read through the top-secret documents. He was almost certain it was the person he had met. According to the document,

There was a humanoid balancer. For twenty years, no one in the space force had lost control of their pheromones. Compared to the periodic pheromone riots in the neighboring federation, it was a rare occurrence. No one had lost control except…

With such a glorious resume, he swept through the interstellar battlegrounds, conquered the crucial interstellar fortress, and in the end, even the caregiver couldn’t find him.

The last few paragraphs didn’t have much medical knowledge, and Jiang Li still frowned as he read through them. In summary, it meant, “The space force’s pheromone balancer is no longer effective, and we are decrypting it today to let the public understand his merits and contributions in the last stage of his life. We can’t let a hero go unnoticed.”

Jiang Li opened his mouth wide, so actually…

“I can’t do it.”

He clearly felt cured; even if it wasn’t a complete cure, he could maintain stability for a period of time.

Jiang Li lowered his head and saw two clear red lines on the pregnancy test.

He was pregnant.
