Chapter 21 1/2
Cen Lang contemplated, “Has anyone else been bothering Jiang Li recently, leading to him also being put under one-key protection?”
The staff thought for a moment: “It seems not.”
Jiang Li had few friends, and those he knew were mostly classmates from the medical school. Approaching graduation, everyone was either interning or busy with their final projects, leaving little time for personal connections.
Cen Lang’s face remained calm. He had only been away for a month, but returning made it feel like everything had changed. The sensation of being robbed of his home was worse than losing the Tomato Planet. Cen Lang found it somewhat amusing: “Are you sure you reported my name?”
The staff replied, “Of course, I recognize your outfit. My son even bought the same one as the Space Force. I also told Xiao Jiang that you brought tomatoes for him.”
Speaking of tomatoes, the staff sniffled. How could Xiaojian refuse the fragrant, uncontaminated fruits? Although he didn’t know Cen Lang’s specific identity, anyone bringing tomatoes must have achieved something remarkable in the battle to reclaim lost territory.
Cen Lang asked, “Does he want to eat tomatoes?”
The staff said, “It seems like he wants to.”
That’s good.
Cen Lang thought that Jiang Li hadn’t changed, the food hadn’t changed, and the only thing that had changed was his own status. In a certain sense, Cen Lang’s rank was not inferior to Principal Zhang’s; he was the highest-ranking officer in the Space Force.
However, officers had to write battlefield reports, hold military press conferences, and deliver speeches to boost morale. Cen Lang found it troublesome, so he nominated another Alpha for the position, responsible for carrying out Cen Lang’s orders and reporting military affairs to him.
Therefore, it was his problem. Jiang Li only wanted to do research and avoid getting involved in complicated matters.
“Can you help me take this box of tomatoes in to him?” Cen Lang requested.
The staff showed a hesitant expression: “The Tianchen Laboratory has strict management. I can’t guarantee that this box doesn’t carry bacteria or viruses. I can’t bear the consequences of biological contamination, and Xiaojian won’t eat anything inside.”
Cen Lang apologized, “Sorry, I didn’t think it through.”
Holding the box of tomatoes, he walked to a tree by the roadside and contacted the old demon king. Ten minutes later, a response came from the universe: “Give you the key to dig the wall?”
Cen Lang: “…”
He couldn’t say that.
In the afternoon, the office of the president of the Third Military Academy welcomed an unexpected visitor.
Principal Zhang felt somewhat gratified. When Cen Lang joined the military at the age of seventeen, he was placed under Zhang’s command for training, becoming like a half-son to him. This time, the war was swift and decisive, not only forcing the Amis Federation to voluntarily surrender a traitor but also capturing three energy stars from them. The star network now glitters with three more jewels. Recently, the high-ranking officials of the opposing side attending the council all looked dispirited.
What was even more rare was that Cen Lang remembered to bring back the spoils of war.
Cen Lang, holding the foam box of tomatoes, said, “It’s not for you.” The benevolent look in Principal Zhang’s eyes swiftly faded. “The door is on the right.” Cen Lang raised an eyebrow. “When are you getting promoted?”
Principal Zhang: “What’s with the sarcasm? Didn’t go to claim military merit; came to show off to me?”
Cen Lang: “I’m thinking, with my military merit this time, it shouldn’t be a problem to temporarily act as the president of the Third Military Academy for a few months, right?” The scent of gunpowder instantly filled the air.
Cen Lang grinned, “Sorry, this move doesn’t work on me anymore.” After recovering from the storm syndrome, the pheromones of Alpha peers would no longer trigger a storm enhancement, alleviating headaches.
Principal Zhang accepted his own scent of gunpowder. He was afraid that if Cen Lang went to outer space, the storm syndrome that had barely subsided would come back. Showing concern was one thing; giving him a good face was another.
“Do you want me to vacate a position for you?” Principal Zhang sneered, tapping a stack of documents on the desk. “Come, I can’t wait for it.”
Cen Lang: “Just kidding. I just want to go to the Tianchen Laboratory.” Except for the old demon king’s key, only the president had the qualifications to access any place in the military academy.
Principal Zhang’s sharp eyes turned, his voice wrapped in a cold air. “Is there a spy in the laboratory?”
Look at this fixed mindset. When in doubt, suspect a spy. Cen Lang nodded subtly, not mentioning that he was here to deliver tomatoes.
Of course, he didn’t genuinely want to be president. He came here just to prove that he had a way to enter the Tianchen Laboratory. It would improve his mood a bit.
Principal Zhang took out a sealed bag from a stack of files on the desk, his fingers unwinding around the coil. “Is it related to applying for the pheromones of the top Alpha from the Tianchen Laboratory?”
A form was slapped onto Cen Lang. Looking at it, he first saw the signature at the bottom: Jiang Li.
Applied by Jiang Li?
Cen Lang held the foam box of tomatoes, sat up straight, and read: “Faced with a bottleneck in the development of adenoma drugs, hoping to apply for multiple samples of the pheromones of top Alphas as carriers to transport drugs into the bloodstream.”
Cen Lang didn’t understand the principle, but adenomas were more common in Omegas who had used suppressants for a long time. They lacked the balance of Alpha pheromones in their bodies, and drugs related to adenomas needed the pheromones of Alphas to carry them. It made sense.
Cen Lang didn’t mind giving a couple of tubes of his blood for research, but for other Alphas, who were not in the same relationship as him and Jiang Li, such matters were quite sensitive.
Even Cen Lang himself would be studied for pheromones, and then toxic appeasers would be tailored accordingly. Cen Lang didn’t immediately speak up for Jiang Li. Instead, he asked, “What do you think?”
Principal Zhang pushed the question back: “Most top Alphas are in the Space Force. I’m just sitting here watching.” In the end, it depended on whether Cen Lang agreed and whether he could persuade.
Cen Lang could use force to knock out all the Alphas and have Jiang Li draw blood, but this world still had to follow reason. Principal Zhang said, “What are you muttering about?”
Cen Lang: “Calculate how many top Alphas I have.” Principal Zhang: “They probably don’t want to be counted by you.”
That being said, most Alphas in the Space Force were his friends.
Because Cen Lang had no concept of hierarchy, he ate and lived with them. Even underwear came from the same production line; if one faded, they all faded together. not to mention that his storm syndrome rebounding on himself benefited humanity.
The suffering from the storm syndrome was not in vain.
If you’re going to give, give the best to Jiang Li.
Cen Lang glanced at Principal Zhang, counting one.
Alpha levels were often linked to military ranks because commanders had to be able to suppress the pheromone riots of others. Convincing them was not easy. But with a top Alpha, Cen Lang knew one would definitely agree.
Principal Zhang was speechless. “You and that Jiang Li… I won’t ask what the relationship is, but you believe him so much?” Cen Lang: “The old demon king believes more than I do.”
Principal Zhang: “Qing Yuan appreciates talents; you… forget it.”
Cen Lang: “Can you call Jiang Xin over now and listen to how he convinces you?” “I want to avoid suspicion in this matter.”
Principal Zhang said sharply, “What identity do you have to avoid suspicion? Do you even have an ID card?” Cen Lang said, “No ID card.
Tianchen Laboratory.
Jiang Li came out to replenish water when he suddenly received a call from the president’s office, saying they wanted to discuss the matter of applying for pheromones with him. Jiang Li –>
