Chapter 21 2/2
The eyes lit up, and he placed the water cup near his mouth back on the table, put on his coat, and headed out.
The laboratory building was a fifteen-minute walk from the administrative building. Jiang Li jogged all the way, afraid of being late because the principal might be busy with other matters.
“Whew—” Jiang Li stood at the stairwell, adjusting his breath.
Calm down; there’s nothing to fear. It’s just the principal; he has answers to all the questions. He is not the old Jiang Li; he can achieve what he wants.
After steadying his breath, Jiang Li raised his hand to knock on the door.
Footsteps approached the door, and Jiang Li closed his eyes slightly. “Principal, hello.” The door was pulled open, but it was Cen Lang, whom he hadn’t seen in over a month. Jiang Li was startled, and he subconsciously took a step back.
Cen Lang: “Come in.”
Jiang Li squeezed his palms and passed by Cen Lang. “Hello, Principal, I am Jiang Li.”
Principal Zhang got straight to the point: “You want to apply for the information pheromones of the top Alpha. Are you aware of the concerns involved?” Jiang Li pursed his lips. “I know.” Suddenly, a crisp tomato was thrust into his hand.
Jiang Li stood still, raising his eyes to meet Cen Lang’s deep gaze, and his fingertips trembled.
Principal Zhang stared at the tomato with water droplets in front of him. How could someone bring tomatoes for the principal to eat only after the student arrived? Apparently, if Jiang Li didn’t come, he wouldn’t get to eat them.
Principal Zhang felt like he was witnessing a naughty kid chasing after Omega right under his father’s nose. He couldn’t help it; he had to set an example.
Prepared for the fact that his psychological preparation might not be useful, Jiang Li eerily ate fruits in the principal’s office. Sweet and sour, with plenty of juice, it resolved the dryness he felt from running all the way.
Cen Lang’s gaze focused on Jiang Li’s abdomen, and suddenly, he spoke, “Is your stomach full?”
Inside the coat was a close-fitting sweater, and his stomach didn’t look as flat as before; he seemed to have eaten a lot. Jiang Li’s alarm bells rang loudly, and he responded, “Um, I just had a meal.”
“What did you eat?”
“Lotus leaf rice from the free cafeteria.” Jiang Li reached into his coat pocket and adjusted it to cover his stomach.
The two buttons on the top had fallen off and hadn’t been sewn on in time. It was entirely inappropriate; he should have been more careful. How could he have known that Cen Lang would suddenly appear and focus on his stomach?
Worried about dreaming too much at night, Jiang Li held the tomato in his hand and said, “I’ll eat and talk. I know the information pheromones of the top Alpha are crucial to privacy. We have a potion that, when mixed with pheromones, will destroy the support chains of the pheromones, leaving only the structure I need. The destroyed pheromones will not lead to personal privacy leaks.”
Principal Zhang, with an impassive face, said, “I will truthfully inform the top Alphas in the space force and let them choose voluntarily.”
Jiang Li expressed gratitude:, “That’s good. Thank you, Principal. I’ll go back to the lab now.”
Principal Zhang:, “Go ahead”
He didn’t want to see Cen Lang hovering around. Sure enough, as soon as Jiang Li left, Cen Lang followed, taking the remaining tomato with him.
Downstairs from the administrative building, sunlight from the west cast its glow on the road, and the remnants of the evening glow danced on the surface. It was a suitable day for a date. The Alpha was tall and heroic, and the Omega was elegant and beautiful, like a perfect pair, attracting the attention of passing students.
Cen Lang: “Why didn’t you ask me for Alpha’s pheromones?”
For a moment, Jiang Li misunderstood it as “Why didn’t you tell me you needed my pheromones because you’re pregnant?” He almost blurted out, “I don’t need it.”
He couldn’t be guilty in front of Cen Lang.
Jiang Li pursed his lips. “Isn’t the color of pheromones like your underwear? Can’t I see it?”
Cen Lang:
He smiled and made a serious suggestion: “I’ll take you to the space force. It happens that I need to go back.”
Jiang Li instinctively wanted to refuse; it would take ten days to go back and forth. He couldn’t be alone with Cen Lang for so long. Jiang Li quickened his pace and refused to walk side by side with Cen Lang, or else he felt like the other was paying attention to his stomach. “I’m really busy lately. Thank you for the meal, but I can’t spare the time.”
Cen Lang strolled behind. “As long as I speak, you can draw the blood of any top Alpha in the space force.”
Jiang Li stopped in his tracks.
Cen Lang: “Those people… unless it’s a compulsory order, no one will respond.”
Jiang Li struggled with his eyes; he really didn’t want to have any more contact with Cen Lang. But the medicine lacked this last step, and he couldn’t resist the temptation of scientific research. Cen Lang held him firmly.
Cen Lang walked up and looked at Jiang Li. “What do you think? Do you agree or not?”
Jiang Li frowned slightly, hesitated for a moment, and finally said, “How long will it take?”
Cen Lang, “Anytime. You can come back as soon as the blood is drawn.” “You don’t have to worry about space radiation; you can stay on my battleship all the time.”
Seemingly with no remaining concerns, Jiang Li calmly considered it with a lot of hesitation in his mind.
As long as he wore more clothes, what could be seen? In just half a month, Cen Lang would be in the cockpit, and he could avoid contact with the driver. Setting aside personal factors, Cen Lang was an upright and stable Alpha. After clearing the suspicion of being a caregiver, Cen Lang didn’t make any probing moves.
“Okay.” Jiang Li made up his mind straightforwardly.
“I hope it’s a quick round trip; won’t it delay your regular tasks?”
“It won’t.”
Cen Lang handed the tomato to Jiang Li. “Go back and pack up. You don’t need to bring anything extra. Let me know when you’re ready.” Jiang Li hesitated, being moved back and forth by Cen Lang. If he didn’t eat it, it would rot. It was a bit wasteful. “Thank you.” Cen Lang stood still and watched Jiang Li go back, paused, turned around, and walked towards the free cafeteria. He paid for it and checked it.
The appearance of the cafeteria met Cen Lang’s requirements, with many windows. After walking for a while, he finally saw the lotus leaf rice. “A serving of lotus leaf rice, thank you.”
The lotus leaf rice was pre-made, and the serving was quick. One minute later, Cen Lang looked thoughtful in front of the lotus leaf rice.
It’s not tasty, either. How did Jiang Li eat so much? Too much nutritional supplement, and he wouldn’t be picky.
Cen Lang coldly looked down and called the cafeteria manager, asking with a smile that wasn’t a smile, “Is it okay for it to be bad just because it’s free?”
The cafeteria manager, scanned by Cen Lang’s eyes, broke into a cold sweat. “Yes, each window has different standards. You can try another one.”
Cen Lang, “Did the windows get outsourced?”
Manager, “Yes…yes.”
Cen Lang twitched his mouth and said, “I hate outsourcing the most.”
The manager’s face turned pale. Everyone knew that Mr. Cen rarely got angry, and being able to directly say “hate” meant he really despised it!
Cen Lang stood up, picked up his coat, and asked, “Is it difficult to keep a professional chef team?”
Manager, “Not difficult, not difficult.”
“Let this not happen again.”
Cen Lang’s gaze swept over those ordinary windows. If Jiang Li, who could eat in the tasteless free cafeteria, had a high-level chef team, wouldn’t he be able to eat even more?
Very good.
