Chapter 23 1/2
The outside suddenly became restless, and the pressure generated by the gathering of top-tier Alphas approached; even Jiang Li could feel it.
“Are they all so enthusiastic?” Jiang Chuang was surprised in his heart. There were often rumors online portraying top-tier Alpha War machines as irritable and unfriendly, but the people he encountered were not cold-hearted.
Cen Lang, faster than Jiang Chuang, sensed a group of top-tier Alphas approaching. Looking at their suddenly heightened efficiency and the rumors in the group, he decided to temporarily refrain from dispelling the rumors.
He extinguished his phone, put it in his pocket, walked to the door, and stood with his hands behind his back, maintaining order. Only one person could enter at a time; no tea parties were allowed.
Nearly thirty top-tier Alphas formed two columns and approached in an orderly manner with synchronized steps. Cen Lang was slightly satisfied; if the military was lax and disorderly, as a top-tier Alpha himself, he would lose face.
Wait a minute… Cen Lang’s eyes sharpened, and he felt a bit stuffy in his chest. What are they wearing?! The top-tier Alphas were all in neat military uniforms with military ranks on their shoulders, seasoned in battle, valiant, and resolute.
The military uniforms were deep blue, including military caps, boots, and overcoats. They only wore them during commendation ceremonies. Once the ceremony was over, they immediately switched back to regular camouflage combat uniforms, suitable for wrestling and rolling around.
Many people joked that these clothes were only suitable for weddings, but in the space base, all you could see were Alphas and Omegas who had never held hands.
Cen Lang had a kind smile on his face as he mentally greeted this group of top-tier Alphas.
“They didn’t inform you to dress up?” Oh, he was an external staff member, not issued the dress. That’s okay, then.
In front of a group of splendidly dressed top-tier Alphas, Cen Lang’s combat uniform seemed plain.
But the top-tier Alpha brothers were here to help him. Cen Lang couldn’t express his displeasure and asked casually, “Is this so formal?”
Top-tier Alpha Brother: “Isn’t today a formal day?” Introducing the space force to the sister-in-law. Should they wear combat uniforms to train in circles on the training ground?
They had to make their leader look good; they weren’t here because they heard that the general’s wife was cooler, gentler, and more beautiful than any Omega celebrity they had seen.
Cen Lang stood tall, pointing to the medals on the first Alpha’s chest. “Quite a few medals?”
Alpha: “Not bad, just three first-class medals.”
First-class medals were only awarded for outstanding achievements on the frontlines.
Cen Lang held back his words. “Control your pheromones.”
“We guarantee it won’t overflow!”
Jiang Li, a military academy student, was well-versed in military ranks and medal classifications. As the first top-tier Alpha entered, he immediately judged him to be a brigadier general. Looking at the medals on his chest, he had displayed valor and donated pheromones for the advancement of medical science.
Military uniforms weren’t as easy to roll up as combat uniforms. “Leader, please clench your right fist in the air, and we’ll draw blood from the back of your hand.”
The skin on the back of the hand, exposed to the elements, was much rougher than the inner arm. Jiang Li, with respect, tied a tourniquet, disinfected the back of the hand in a circle, lightly patted it to reach a state where blood could be drawn, and wiped it a few times with an alcohol cotton pad.
“Leader, you need to supplement some iron.”
“Oh, okay.”
Before the words were finished, a tube of blood had unconsciously been drawn.
Alpha pressed the hemostatic cotton, enduring the pressure from behind, and bid farewell to the general’s wife. Jiang Li extended his hand and shook it gently. “Thank you.”
“No need to thank…” It was terrifying. It felt like Cen Lang could attack their brains with pheromones at any moment.
After seeing one off, Cen Lang, standing with hands behind his back, was reminded with a smile as the next one entered, “He’s a clean freak; no handshakes allowed.”
Top-tier Alphas expressed that the boss was so jealous; of course, they had to shake hands with the general’s wife before the official announcement. They were sure Cen Lang wouldn’t dare to show the cruel side of using pheromones in front of his wife.
Cen Lang was slightly helpless.
Normally, organizing and commanding troops was not enough for him; he had never felt that there were so many top-tier Alphas in the space base.
With so many Alphas, Dr. Jiang’s cleanliness must be at its limit, right?
Cen Lang turned around and saw that Jiang Li was still treating each volunteer with great patience, showing no signs of impatience.
He grabbed a top-tier Alpha and threw him out, saying, “What are you pretending to be illiterate for?” The handwritten instructions on the door couldn’t be understood, and he still needed Jiang Li to explain them to you.
Cen Lang said to Jiang Li, “No need to explain to them; the army doesn’t accept illiterates.”
Jiang Li: “He just wants to understand the principle.”
Cen Lang: “Even if you explain, he’ll forget as soon as he leaves.”
An hour, which seemed long in Cen Lang’s life, finally passed after drawing blood from thirty Alphas. Jiang Li packed up and stored the blood samples in the medical room of the warship.
Powerful warships like the White Flame were basically equipped with integrated attack and medical facilities, including blood transfusion devices, and storing blood was a routine matter. Cen Lang opened the group chat; the mission was complete; it was time to dispel the rumors.
At this moment, the group members were very active.
[This is what I imagine top-tier Omegas to be like.]
Did anyone smell the scent of the general’s wife’s pheromones? It’s amazing—just as mysterious as the boss. [They really are a couple, not giving anyone a chance.]
[I didn’t smell it, but I feel that facing Dr. Jiang will calm my mood.]
The Cen Team is… [Healed, the wife is here; this year will go down in history.]
[I want to go back to Earth for blind dates.]
None of you have your own Omegas???
[Shut up.]
[Don’t ask me for marriage leave.]
Cen Lang deleted the rumor-dispelling words.
It could be foreseen that the moment he dispelled the rumors, there would be many pursuers outside the warship, affecting Jiang Li’s concentration on research.
But… Some misunderstandings could be clarified.
Cen Lang said, “Dr. Jiang is a beta; don’t discuss his pheromones.”
The group fell silent. Could it be that thirty top-tier Alphas all made a mistake? Were they out of touch with society? Cen Lang smiled gently, put away his phone, and asked Jiang Li, “The warship has connected to the base’s water source; do you want to take a bath?
“During battles, there was no time for bathing, so the warship only stored drinking water and nutrients. Cen Lang arranged the visiting order of various planets; every other day, they would land on a base, connect to the water source, and not delay bathing.
Jiang Li: “Yes.”
Cen Lang: “Go get your clothes.”
Cen Lang walked to the bathroom and did something he had never cared about before—adjusted the water pressure. If the water pressure was too high, he was afraid Jiang Fu couldn’t hold the showerhead.
Jiang Li opened his suitcase and secretly ate some folic acid. There were few chances to take nutritional supplements. He owed Cen Lang a bill, already filling a page and looking like a restaurant menu at first glance.
The warship was filled with advanced weapons, and the living area was small. They pulled out two marching beds during meals, and the beds had to be put away during meals. The cockpit was spacious, and any inconspicuous button could launch missiles to bomb planets. Jiang Chuang knew this and never set foot there.
After the bath, he pressed the hot air button to dry the surface of his body directly, saving the trouble of using a towel. Jiang Li changed into a thin shirt, holding a white towel to wipe his wet hair.
Bright and moist…
