Chapter 3 2/2
Glacier, green tea… Soothing agent?!
The next second, Jiang Li snapped the tube shut.
It turned out to be the same pheromone scent he accidentally smelled in the restaurant last time. The side effects of this soothing agent for uncontrollable alphas were like the last straw on a camel’s back.
The glacier green tea scent was piercing, similar to fanning air on a fever patient, but it was challenging to address the root cause.
What kind of quack doctor was this? Well, this knowledge was extremely niche… Jiang Li recalled his employer’s pheromone; it seemed to have a green tea scent. His employer was deceived by a quack doctor, thinking his pheromones were effective.
Jiang Li left the green tea pheromones on the spot, not taking them in, lest he pick up the wrong thing inside the dark environment.
A long downward passage, winding and twisting, with several doors. Both sides were metal walls, akin to mining coal underground.
If pheromones could be thermally imaged, one could see two clusters in the current underground city. With every step Jiang Li took forward, Cen Lang’s robust pheromones withdrew until they reached equilibrium, unwilling to retreat further.
Jiang Li felt a bit warm for no apparent reason. On second thought, in winter, the underground retained heat, and in summer, it stayed cool, fitting the geography.
This wasn’t an underground city at all, but a dungeon. If the condition couldn’t be cured, he couldn’t take a step outside.
Jiang Li arrived at the last door. He fumbled for the switch on the wall, making —
With a forceful push, the space suddenly widened. Jiang Li, not quite accustomed, moved along the wall. His back felt a sudden emptiness, and upon turning, he discovered a hidden storage space filled with tubes of nutrients.
“Hello, I’m a carer,” Jiang Li said, his voice surprisingly dry.
In the darkness, only the faint sound of a falling needle could be heard, accompanied by increasingly heavy breaths.
As Jiang Li was about to investigate the source of the breathing, he suddenly realised it was his own.
Amidst the scentless pheromones, he realised he had unwittingly entered into the influence of a top-tier Alpha’s mating instincts!
His slender figure froze in place. After a while, he finally managed to regulate his breathing.
Jiang Li’s fingertips tingled, and his cheeks flushed. Just moments ago, he had criticised others as incompetent doctors, and now, without finding the patient, he…
Decisively, he took out a suppressant from his backpack, slid down the wall, and was about to administer it when his toe unexpectedly kicked something.
“Hmm.”
Jiang Li quickly stepped back and realised he had reached a corner. The already pitch-dark ground seemed especially black here.
The Alpha leans silently against the wall, one leg bent and his wrist hanging. Even in the darkness, his towering figure could be felt.
It seemed as if he didn’t even breathe, just a solitary figure in the agony of a prolonged slumber.
If he died here, no one would notice until the pheromones dispersed.
Ignoring the injection for a moment, Jiang Li hastily felt for the Alpha’s wrist, grabbed it, and checked the pulse. The pulse was chaotic, but it confirmed he was still alive.
Perhaps even breathing exacerbated the pain, yet in the loss of consciousness, deep suppression persisted.
Jiang Li found a fine needle, placed Cen Lang’s hand on his knee, and carefully located the acupoint before inserting it.
Inhibitors are no longer effective; Alpha needs more pheromones. Jiang Li sits with Cen Lang, constantly checking his pulse, occasionally wiping sweat from his clothes, or helping Cen Lang do the same. The skin contact feels like sparks, and Jiang Li awkwardly endures waves of warmth, pretending nonchalance.
After ten minutes, Cen Lang’s pulse improves, and his breathing becomes normal. Jiang Li reaches to touch Cen Lang’s forehead, underestimating his height, and accidentally covers his mouth.
Later, the pressure point on the palm turns green, and clenching the fist causes pain. Unexpectedly kissed, like an electric current passing through.
“Sorry, sorry.” Jiang Li, cautious due to Alpha’s height, bends down, extending his index finger to explore. No gloves; a bit of germophobia is acting up.
Surprisingly, the covered forehead is warm and clean, but sweaty near the temples. Normal temperature.
Unconsciously, Jiang Li smooths Cen Lang’s furrowed brow, muttering, “Shouldn’t hurt now, right?”
As if responding, Alpha’s forehead relaxes, accompanied by increasingly heavy breathing.
Realizing that close proximity intensifies pheromonal effects, Jiang Li tries to sit back but suddenly goes weak, groaning as he falls into Alpha’s arms.
This startles both, with the patient grunting and emphasising his vitality as a top-tier Alpha.
Jiang Li, seemingly frightened, scrambles out of Alpha’s embrace, but his strength diminishes with the ongoing heat.
In this different oestrous period, Jiang Li realises it’s not just a natural cycle; at this moment, he’s acutely aware of whom he’s in heat for.
His synthetic skin heats up, and suddenly, Jiang Li’s hands freeze in place. Someone can actually smell his pheromones without being impotent…
With his head lowered, Jiang Li wonders about the danger of exposing his neck. He stares incredulously at his hands; his fingers seem to have a mind of their own.
No, he didn’t move; it moved!
Eyes wide, Jiang Li realises it’s him…
A shadow falls, Jiang Li is abruptly restrained, and Alpha’s fierce breath hits the back of his neck like a hungry wolf eyeing fresh meat.
Jiang Li, caught off guard: “…”
No… 50,000 yuan is not worth it…
Struggling, Jiang Li grabs an inhibitor from the chaotic surroundings and, without hesitation, administers a shot to Cen Lang.
Cen Lang furrows his brow, maintaining the restraint but with reduced strength.
As the crisis passes, Jiang Li smells a faint metallic tinge at the corner of Alpha’s mouth, suppressing internal bleeding.
Jiang Li, somewhat softened but not entirely, gives himself a shot.
“Thirsty,” Alpha, each word slow and husky.
Jiang Li moves, retrieves a nutrition tube from the cabinet, and bends to feed Alpha in the darkness.
“Cough…”
It seems like he choked a bit.
Considering the 50,000 yuan from the nursing job, Jiang Li eases up a bit.
“I’m a nurse. Can you communicate now?”
No response.
Getting closer, Jiang Li, dealing with an unusually resilient patient, resorts to touching his brow.
Frowning, he presses his forehead against Alpha’s palm.
“Sit down!”
Jiang Li commands briefly, attempting to awaken the disoriented Alpha with a military-like reflex.
After a moment, Alpha leans against the wall, following orders.
Jiang Li sits nearby, a bit satisfied, maintaining some distance.
In the quiet room, occasional stern reminders of “don’t move” create a relatively harmonious atmosphere.
Time passes, and outside, it’s likely dark.
Jiang Li feels the slow depletion of the inhibitor’s effect; the potent pheromones make it challenging to endure the entire oestrous period with the suppressant.
Should he administer another shot? He’d have to go out to get it.
Moreover, this temporary solution isn’t sufficient. After two days, he would leave with 50,000 yuan, a temporary fix for Alpha but not a permanent cure, with the possibility of a relapse.
He could keep earning money, but a medical student’s mission is to cure, not just make money.
Analyzing calmly, Jiang Li considers that a permanent solution may involve leaving his pheromones on the patient, essentially marking him.
There’s already a method to remove Alpha markings; it’s just a matter of taking a pill. After marking this one, it wouldn’t affect marking the next.
The question is, is it worth it?
Jiang Li, with a severe case of mysophobia, never considered mating with an Alpha unless absolutely necessary, more urgent than his graduation defence.
Defense… A ludicrous idea suddenly flashes.
Jiang Li shakes his head, rolling out.
Yet another voice says: Finding a non-impotent Alpha is harder than finding a three-legged toad.
“No, my mysophobia isn’t cured yet,” Jiang Li retorts involuntarily.
