Chapter 60 2/2
The activity settled, and Cen Lang carried the exhausted Jiang Li to bathe. Dr. Xiao Jiang took the initiative this time, and Cen Lang couldn’t help but smile at his eagerness.
Jiang Li half-closed his eyes, observing his own body in the mirror. While his skin was rosy, unlike that night in the underground city, Cen Lang hadn’t left any bite marks or bruises on him.
As if roles were reversed, after tending to Jiang Li, Cen Lang saw scratches on his chest and back in the full-length mirror. He suspected his lower abdomen and lower back wouldn’t have been spared if Jiang Li could bend due to pregnancy.
Cen Lang planned to send his wife back to her father’s place tonight, aiming for a complete reconciliation to avoid objections. As memories synchronised, he reflected on the unrestrained night in the underground city and restrained himself tonight, suppressing the urge to unleash his desires.
Since rejecting the proposal for Jiang Li to join him at the transfer point, Jiang Li seemed to deliberately oppose him, provoking him more when he tried to stay uninvolved.
The cleanliness-obsessed Dr. Xiao Jiang was criticised everywhere, surely to Cen Lang’s annoyance. “It won’t be easy to soothe him when he’s back,” Cen Lang thought.
Covered in a black shirt, hiding all traces, Cen Lang stood next to Jiang Li, teasing, “Darling, you really can endure in the underground city.”
To avoid any evidence of their intimacy, Dr. Xiao Jiang, being meticulous, made sure not to leave a single trace. However, it seemed he offended greatly tonight.
Jiang Li pulled out a military nutritional supplement: “Open it.” Cen Lang raised an eyebrow, asking where it came from, as it wasn’t publicly available. Jiang Li responded, “I found it at your place.”
Cen Lang suggested not drinking it during lunch, but Jiang Li insisted. Opening the supplement, Cen Lang handed it to Jiang Li, who hesitated. Seeing this, Cen Lang took a sip first, and then Jiang Li took the rest.
Jiang Li, holding the supplement, approached his lips slowly. The irregular, rough edge pressed against his rosy lips. He reluctantly swallowed it down, finding it unpleasant but effective in restoring energy.
Cen Lang chuckled, thinking that humans wasted their vision in the dark, offering military nutritional supplements to his wife reluctantly.
“Want me to carry you downstairs?” Jiang Li declined, insisting on walking himself. Though Cen Lang initially planned to bring him food, Jiang Li insisted they should eat together.
Cen Wei sat at the dining table, waiting for a while before the young couple joined him. He couldn’t understand the tradition of big families having meals together; the wait seemed endless.
Despite his efforts to appear normal and hide his concerns, Cen Wei noticed Jiang Li’s eyes looked like he had been crying. It was evident that he already knew everything, and Cen Wei felt frustrated.
“You told your wife everything and let him act at his age!”
As expected, Jiang Li had no appetite after learning the truth, affecting his nutrition.
Cen Wei sighed inwardly. The signal they had been waiting for over twenty years arrived at an inconvenient time, hoping Cen Lang’s trip wasn’t in vain. Jiang Li took the initiative, suggesting, “Grandpa, have more of this dish; it’s effective for rheumatism. I’ll come regularly to give you acupuncture.”
Cen Wei proposed that Jiang Li should stay over more, given the plenty of rooms at home. Jiang Li agreed, and Cen Wei warned Cen Lang, “If you’re late returning after the child is born, your bedroom will become the baby’s room, and you can sleep in the doghouse. “Cen Lang replied, “Alright, I’ll be a late-arriving puppy then.”
After dinner, Cen Lang patiently accompanied Jiang Li. Unable to walk today, Jiang Li sat in the flower room, watching flowers.
“I’ll greet your father-in-law,” Cen Lang said, taking out his phone. Jiang Li advised against it, anticipating his father’s reaction, and Cen Lang agreed not to tell him immediately.
Jiang Li emphasised that his grandpa also needed companionship, and Cen Lang, holding back tears, turned away. Fortunately, Jiang Li understood and regarded Cen Wei as his own grandpa.
“What do you want to do in the afternoon?” Jiang Li expressed his plan to visit the lab and check on lichen.
Cen Lang, recalling the seven pounds of meat, winced. “Need a nap?”
“No need; let’s go now and come back for dinner,” Jiang Li replied.
Cen Lang accompanied Jiang Li to the lab, admiring his stability. Jiang Li suggested he attend to his own matters while he worked.
After Cen Lang left, Jiang Li approached the information pheromone extractor instead of examining lichen. He observed the spacious lab, with expensive instruments piled up seemingly without value.
He cleaned the extractor three times, and then, after disinfecting his wrist, he extracted information pheromones, analysed them, and inputted the results. The concentration was lower outside the susceptible period, taking a bit more time.
He extracted two vials for Cen Lang, just in case. In his first relationship, he wasn’t sure what preparations were appropriate for a boyfriend going on a trip.
