Chapter 99 1/2
The cat opened the door for the mouse, and the mouse found its way home.
Jiang Wanlan felt dizzy. Could these two kids have dug a tunnel under his house just for a date?
If he hadn’t noticed, that would be one thing, but why hadn’t Lu Jing, a former reconnaissance soldier, noticed?! His son-in-law was indeed his father-in-law’s nemesis.
Jiang Baby even misled him with rat poison and mousetraps! Too protective! Why didn’t he just use a trap?
Suppressing his anger, Lu Jing quickly went to take a look in the basement and immediately realized that the tunnel must have existed for at least twenty years, not something the two kids had dug intentionally.
The old man’s mood calmed down a bit… who was he kidding?
Jiang Li hugged a pillow, glanced at Cen Lang, then at his dad, and bravely said, “Dad, we’re together.”
Cen Lang stepped forward, Jiang Li frowned, pointed at the mousetrap on his body, and Cen Lang looked down, quickly took off his coat, and threw it aside.
“Not feeling well today? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
“No need, just lost my appetite. Don’t buy me fish in the future.”
“Okay.”
After asking the most concerned question, Cen Lang glanced around the room, sincerely picked up a broomstick from the corner, and handed it to Jiang Wanlan and Lu Jing. “Uncle Jiang, Uncle Lu, I’m sorry for not considering this properly. You can hit me.”
After taking off his coat, Cen Lang was only wearing a thin shirt, definitely vulnerable.
He bent his knee towards Jiang Li, knelt down, grabbed Jiang Li’s hand on his knee, and exposed his back to the furious Lu Jing.
With his current line of sight, he was looking directly at Jiang Li’s abdomen, where their unborn child was.
Cen Lang had indeed been too careless, never thinking about this due to the low pregnancy rate.
He still went fishing and encouraged Jiang Li to skateboard to the underground city.
He was too careless.
Fortunately, except for that one time, he had strictly adhered to the etiquette before meeting the parents and hadn’t done anything excessive to Jiang Li.
He deserved to be punished.
Lu Jing tightened his grip on the broomstick, snapped it in half, and threw it aside.
As a cunning Alpha, how could he beat someone in front of Jiang Li and then hand him the stick, just for show?
Jiang Wanlan couldn’t understand. He had eloped with this poor kid Lu Jing, strictly speaking, Cen Lang had much better initial conditions than Lu Jing. He had been crooked since childhood, and he had no intention of opposing it, yet somehow his child had gotten pregnant even behind his back.
Jiang Li felt like he needed to explain the origin of the child. They hadn’t been reckless.
“Dad, Cen Lang did nothing wrong, it’s me.”
Cen Lang stopped Jiang Li from revealing the truth and took the blame himself, “It’s my fault for not controlling the pheromones and tempting Jiang Li. I take full responsibility.”
Jiang Li’s cheeks burned red. “No, he fell ill in the underground city! I went to find him myself, and he wasn’t in his right mind. I thought I was a doctor, and our pheromones were just right, so I thought we could try to alleviate the storm symptoms.”
“Just once, and I got pregnant.”
Jiang Wanlan was dumbfounded, surprised yet not surprised.
Jiang Baby had always tried every possible way to go to the underground city to find people when he was young, so it wasn’t surprising that he would do something like this when he grew up.
That’s why he suspected Cen Lang first. Although Jiang Li had many good classmates, he was immersed in scientific research and was indifferent to others. It was impossible for such passionate feelings to arise between him and any other Alpha, especially without their dads and Cen Lang noticing.
They didn’t know, but Cen Lang couldn’t possibly not know.
Only by giving his affection to Cen Lang would their dads confuse it with brotherly love, without seeing through it.
“If it was an accidental pregnancy, Baby, what would you think?”
In terms of probability, this might be Jiang Li’s only child.
But if Jiang Li didn’t want it, then it was okay too.
Jiang Li glanced at Cen Lang.
Jiang Wanlan pushed Cen Lang away. “Don’t look at him, think for yourself.”
Cen Lang said, “Jiang Li, I didn’t just like you because of pheromones and the child; I had intentions long before that.”
“I want only you, not you bearing children.”
Lu Jing silently called Cen Lang out. Although the words sounded nice, they weren’t as nice as they seemed. Didn’t he see that Jiang Li wanted a child? What nonsense was he talking about?
Cen Lang obediently followed Lu Jing to the basement.
Only the two of them were left in the living room.
Jiang Wanlan said, “Think calmly.”
Jiang Li asked, “How did you feel when you had me, Dad?”
“Very happy.”
Jiang Li pondered, “Then I guess I feel almost the same.”
Since there were no obstacles preventing him from having this child, he decided to go with the flow. His family was so wonderful that having one more little one to enjoy it wouldn’t hurt.
Jiang Wanlan said, “Dad knows, but you need to, you need to…”
“I’ll stay at home.”
Jiang Wanlan breathed a sigh of relief. Jiang Baby was always so understanding. The last time they experienced separation anxiety was when Jiang Li started kindergarten.
How come twenty years had passed, but there was still no progress?
Jiang Wanlan recalled how they had treated the last separation anxiety and suddenly fell silent.
—The last prescription was when Cen Lang promised to go see Jiang Li during breaks, as they were in the same school.
He remembered Cen Lang and Jiang Li standing in front of him, Cen Lang promising earnestly, and little Jiang Baby nodding in agreement, full of trust in his brother. “Dad, Brother will come to see me.”
He took Jiang Li to Cen’s house, trying hard to prevent little Jiang Li from being treated as a young master’s entourage. Little did he know that Cen Lang treated little Jiang Li like an ancestor and directly spoiled him into a wife.
Jiang Li heard a loud noise coming from the basement and stood up, worriedly asking, “What are they doing?”
Jiang Wanlan listened for a moment and said confidently, “Your dad is directing Cen Lang to fill up the tunnel.”
Jiang Li said, “…”
Now Jiang Wanlan realized how obvious Jiang Li’s action of sprinkling rat poison had been after that incident. “You haven’t gone there since then, have you?”
