George had already had Su Ling’s file, he knew very well about her family background and also knew that she was actually a little girl living in the shadows.
“I just want to tell you, Su Ling, you and your father will always be two people, and you are also the victim of the incident. You don’t need to atone and repent forever.”
Su Ling remained silent for a long, long time.
The fine rain hit her face, and her delicate face had no expression.
She gazed into George’s eyes, and there seemed to be a hint of anger in her tone.
“We’ve only known each other for a few days, so don’t think you know me very well. To enlighten me in such a tone of an elder will annoy me a lot.”
“We’re just partners, not friends, let alone family.”
Su Ling said without hesitation, turned around, and left without looking back.
George stood alone in his black umbrella and remained silent for a long time.
He sighed and raked his hair from front to back.
“Did I screw it up again? Damn it, I can’t help it, I know it’s going to happen . … Maybe it’s good.”
George shook his head and walked away, his back slowly disappeared alone in the alley outside the cafe.
An hour later, he returned home.
George lives in a single-story villa on the outskirts of Beland.
No relatives, no neighbors, not even a living pet.
He was the only one within 500 meters of the entire villa, and the nearest convenience store was a mile away, making life very inconvenient.
He didn’t need any friends or family, because that would undoubtedly hurt others.
Returning to the dark and quiet home. George didn’t turn on the lights and sat straight down on the couch and turned on the TV.
He calmly leaned back on the couch and watched the late-night shows on TV.
For more than a decade, he has been living alone like this and lived to be thirty, forty years old…
Even if someone had been his friend, they would have forgotten.
“I shouldn’t have said so much.” he said to himself.
Although he and Su Ling had only been partners for a few days, seeing her preoccupied look, he couldn’t help but say a few more words.
He sighed and took out an old photo from the pocket of his pants.
It was a picture of Su Ling going in and out of the slums.
A dirty-faced, helpless, bewildered little girl, dressed in a muddy vest, held a broken glass in her hand as a defensive weapon.
He closed his eyes and silently put the picture back in his pocket.
According to the high-ranking officials of the Anti-Magic Bureau, relatives and friends were the only possible price, and they specially arranged a girl who could make him feel sympathetic as a partner.
“I wonder if a man like Boss Shen will be restricted by the disaster-level relics?”
After more than two months of getting along, he already regarded Shen Yi as a friend. He laughed at his thoughts.
Perhaps he had a friend who would never disappear.
As for Su Ling, sooner or later, he would completely forget her, right?
This was the price of using the first blade.
The effect of the second blade would only reduce the lifespan, and you could find ways to supplement it. But every time the first blade was used the user would completely “forget” a relative or friend on the worldline.
Many details made George understand that he might have had children and wives in the past, but their “connections” with him had been severed.
Even the “prophet” or other people could no longer make them recognize themselves.
Unless it was the power of an extra-worldly god, which was higher than the rules of relics.
