Chen Luo yelled from behind, “Please don’t run! I mean no harm.”
He couldn’t help but chuckle at his own words because, if he were in her shoes, he would probably panic too.
Mengyin ran as fast as she could without responding. She had gone out while her companions were looking for food to practice her ability under a tree, but she hadn’t expected to be discovered.
She thought, “Why is this person so persistent? When I saw the convoy from far away, I immediately tried to hide, but I still got caught.”
She had no choice but to transform.
Mengyin transformed into a… little white rabbit, instantly gaining more speed.
The Natural Ability category is divided into Summoning, Transformation, and Support.
Summoning and Transformation are more combat-oriented, while Support includes various statuses and healing abilities. However, the Natural Ability category’s most significant function was acting as a gardener for planting crops.
Survivors relied on Natural Ability users for their crops.
It was exceptionally difficult for Natural Ability users to comprehend their skills compared to other ability categories. This difficulty was understandable given the state of the world – the environment had been severely damaged for unknown reasons. The land was polluted, water sources were contaminated, and all plant life had withered away, leaving no traces of greenery. This kind of environment was fundamentally unsuitable for Natural Ability users.
Mengyin ran at a decent speed, but she was no match for Chen Luo. As she transformed into a little white rabbit in front of him, Chen Luo showed only little surprise. The entire process took about ten seconds, and he quickly caught up to her, grabbing her long ears firmly.
Wide-eyed with fear, the rabbit’s four legs kicked in panic.
“Is this person born in the Year of the Dog? Why is he so fast?” Mengyin thought.
Chen Luo chuckled and said, “I really mean no harm. It’s just me. How about changing back?”
Caught in his grasp, Meng Yin had no intention of reverting to her human form. Firstly, if she changed back, what if she encountered an LSP (Lifeform Suppressor)? Secondly, she had only mastered the transformation into a rabbit and didn’t know how to transform back on her own. She had to wait for her ability to naturally deplete before she could revert.
Chen Luo chuckled, “It’s quite dangerous for you to be alone. Come with me. If you don’t say anything, I’ll assume you agree.”
“Let’s go. Big brother will take you back and have some delicious food.”
Tears streamed down Mengyin’s face. How did you deduce that I agreed?
Su Dazhu observed with curiosity from behind. Was he chasing a rabbit? However, your words are strange. When I worked as a security guard, I once saw a strange guy who said he wanted to take a young beauty to see goldfish. It gave off the same weird vibe.
Chen Luo, still holding the rabbit’s ears, returned to the car with a smile.
Zhao Hai’s eyes lit up. “I have two bottles of good wine. How about having rabbit meat for lunch?”
Chen Luo replied, “I’ll keep her safe. We can’t eat her.”
Chen Luo found it strange that Mengyin hadn’t transformed back. Just as the car was about to leave, another girl around sixteen or seventeen years old returned to the safe house after searching everywhere for Mengyin and finding no trace of her.
Seeing the car stop and then start again, the young girl, Xiao Yu, suddenly thought of a possibility: could Mengyin have been captured?
Xiao Yu was filled with anxiety. What should she do? She needed to rescue Mengyin. But the car was too fast, and there was no way she could catch up.
…
After bidding farewell to Zhao Hai and returning to the base, Chen Luo had a smile on his face. His trip outside had been quite fruitful. In his left hand, he held a chicken, and in his right hand, he held a rabbit.
The chicken and the rabbit stared at each other.
Rabbit: Were you captured too?
Chicken: Did he threaten you? Force you to eat rice?
Mi Li and the Thunderbolt King approached.
Mi Li exclaimed in surprise, “Where did the chicken and rabbit come from?”
Coincidentally, Mengyin’s ability had exhausted, and she transformed back from a rabbit into her human form. Chen Luo had failed to hold onto her, and she fell to the ground, letting out a yelp.
Mengyin glared at Chen Luo. Not only Mi Li but also the Thunderbolt King widened their eyes in astonishment. Could she perform magic?
The Thunderbolt King looked from left to right, and poor Mengyin, who had been afraid of dogs since she was young, was trembling.
Mi Li had a bit more accepting ability. She pointed at Mengyin with a puzzled expression.
Chen Luo chuckled and said, “I found them on the way.”
Mengyin angrily retorted, “Found? Am I wild animal! You clearly forcibly grabbed me!”
Mi Li didn’t believe that Chen Luo would do anything harmful with the young girl. He must have had a reason to bring her here. With her presence, as long as the young girl had no ill intentions, hse wouldn’t let Chen Luo harm her.
Mi Li asked with concern, “It’s mealtime, why don’t we eat together?”
Chen Luo said, “Let Shu Yun take her to eat first.”
He called Shu Yun and instructed her, “Take her to have a meal, make sure it’s a good one, and treat her nicely.”
Shu Yun nodded, curious about the girl’s background. Chen Luo hadn’t given such specific instructions even when Mi Li’s friend, Zhang Jingjing, had come.
Being forcibly grabbed by Chen Luo, Mengyin was seething with anger. She said, “Even if I starve, I won’t eat anything you offer.”
Chen Luo chuckled, finding the girl’s words amusing.
Mengyin looked at the high walls surrounding her, with guards at the entrance, and felt that escape was hopeless. Fortunately, there were some pretty ladies here, which gave her a sense of security. If it were all big men, she would have been desperate.
As Chen Luo was about to enter the villa for dinner, he suddenly remembered Xiao Hong(name of the Chicken).
“I wonder how does its eggs taste?” Chen Luo asked with a menacing tone.
Xiao Hong looked terrified and laid an egg on the spot. Compared to normal eggs, it was larger and had a faint reddish hue.
Chen Luo took it in his hand, feeling the warmth. But one egg wasn’t enough to satisfy his appetite.
Xiao Hong was clearly a hard nut to crack and couldn’t be reasoned with. Chen Luo had figured that out. He gave Xiao Hong a solid smack on the head. To his surprise, after receiving the beating, Xiao Hong laid another egg.
Xiao Hong laid three eggs in a row, which seemed quite strenuous for the chicken. Satisfied with this outcome, Chen Luo went upstairs.
“Thunderbolt King, keep an eye on it. If it gets lost, I’ll deduct a thousand points from you,” Chen Luo instructed.
“Sister Yu, make scrambled eggs with green peppers.”
Thunderbolt King stayed behind, still baffled and wondering if he even had a thousand points. He looked at Xiao Hong with apparent interest.
To keep a closer watch on Xiao Hong, Law King pressed it down beneath him.
Xiao Hong Red couldn’t resist.
Taking cues from what he’d seen earlier with Chen Luo, Thunderbolt King also tried to make Xiao Hong lay eggs.
But alas, it couldn’t lay any more eggs. Being a strong-willed chicken was tougher than expected.
Thunderbolt King wondered if Xiao Hong hadn’t eaten enough based on the law of energy conservation he had just learned. So he brought some rice and tried to feed it to Xiao Hong.
Xiao Hong refused to eat. It had already been overfed by Chen Luo, moreover it didn’t like rice either.
Thunderbolt King was furious. “Eat it! How can you not eat what I’m offering you? Chen Luo overfed you, why won’t you eat?”
Xiao Hong was genuinely upset. Why did everyone force it to eat rice?
Thunderbolt King then tried to make Xiao Hong lay eggs again, but poor Xiao Hong still couldn’t manage it.
Thunderbolt King was perplexed. Could it be that he wasn’t using the right approach?
He recalled that the master had smacked Xiao Hong before it laid eggs.
A smack once, no eggs. Two smacks, still no eggs.
Thunderbolt King continued to gently pat Xiao Hong with his paws, making a snapping sound as he did so.
Xiao Hong’s eyes welled up with tears. Life had become unbearable, and it wished for a swift end.
