A dozen fists and kicks, including some wielding clubs, were directed towards the two male team members. Those who couldn’t physically reach them feigned releasing spells to threaten.
One of the male team members was from Leng Chen’s group, only level one.
As it seemed someone was about to be beaten to death, Yan Li gritted her teeth, preparing to counterattack with spells. The dirty-faced man noticed this, his expression changing. He no longer cared that Yan Li was a woman; he couldn’t allow her to release spells that could be lethal.
However, at that moment, a brick came flying.
Seeing the unfavorable situation, Jiang Feng tried to use the brick to divert the attackers’ attention. Only seven or eight people pursued him.
A metal rod struck Yan Li’s head hard, causing her head to bleed profusely.
The dirty-faced man followed up with another blow to her head, his expression ferocious. “You bitch, showing no respect despite being given a chance.”
A black car came to a halt, and someone yelled, “Heizi, what are you doing?”
The dirty-faced man hurried over, feigning a smile. “Brother Yuan, there’s this nasty woman who wanted to attack me, so I’m teaching her a lesson.”
Liu Yuan furrowed his brow. He could roughly guess what had happened, but Heizi was fairly strong, so he couldn’t be overly harsh.
Liu Yuan said, “Don’t go too far. Don’t make this a precedent.”
Heizi was about to respond with a smile when a group of people arrived in the distance.
Shu Yun and the others were spread out throughout the residential area and couldn’t reach the scene immediately.
Seeing the heavy truck surrounded and receiving Jiang Feng’s message through the walkie-talkie, they hurried to the location.
Shu Yun shouted, “Stop!”
Upon seeing the people lying in pools of blood, Shu Yun’s body stiffened momentarily.
With a fierce determination, Shu Yun unleashed a sharp ice arrow, piercing through one man’s head.
The man died on the spot.
Seeing the unexpected turn of events, Liu Yuan immediately got out of the car.
The others were startled by this sudden change and stopped, their attention now on Shu Yun.
Shu Yun wished she could kill these people on the spot, but with a limited number of allies around her and seemingly sixty to seventy people on the other side, it was a risky situation.
Shu Yun spoke coldly, “Let them go.”
As more members rushed over, the group around Shu Yun grew in number, all of them glaring menacingly at the opposition.
Liu Yuan’s voice was filled with anger. “You killed my people and yet you want me to let them go?”
In her rage, Shu Yun immediately aimed an ice arrow at Liu Yuan.
However, Liu Yuan didn’t panic. “Earth Shield.”
Liu Yuan was a level two earth element ability user. Whether in the early or later stages, earth element ability users had the most formidable defense.
The ice arrow still penetrated the earth shield, but its power was greatly diminished.
Both Shu Yun and Liu Yuan’s expressions changed, realizing they were evenly matched.
All the team members had gathered.
Liu Yuan’s expression shifted again. Although his side had a numerical advantage, engaging in a large-scale battle wouldn’t end well for either side.
Especially the woman leading the other group; if she could break through his shield, dealing with others wouldn’t pose much of a challenge.
After a brief moment of collecting herself, Shu Yun managed to calm down a bit.
She knew that if a large-scale battle were to break out, she might be able to defeat the opposing group, but ensuring that any of her members remained alive would be uncertain.
If a dozen or so people were killed, she wouldn’t have the face to return to Chen Luo and explain.
Even though they held the numerical advantage, most of the highly skilled members were back at their base.
Rushing in recklessly wouldn’t be wise; their base was nearby. Shu Yun decided it was best to go back and report the situation to Chen Luo.
With Chen Luo’s guidance, they could seek retaliation with minimal casualties.
Shu Yun’s tone was cold as she demanded, “Release our members.”
Liu Yuan didn’t want to engage in a full-blown fight either and said calmly, “Fine.”
A few members were released, but Yan Li was already lifeless.
Shu Yun’s hand trembled. Yan Li was dead?
Wang Ling desperately used healing magic, but it was futile.
Gritting her teeth, Shu Yun thought, You just wait. Chen Luo won’t let you get away with this.
Unintentionally, tears welled up in Shu Yun’s eyes. She hadn’t led the team properly, and now something like this had happened.
A man from the opposing group sneered, “Look, the woman is crying. Heh.”
Shu Yun whispered, “Let’s go.”
Yang Xuan shot them a cold glance and was about to drive the heavy truck away.
But someone stopped him, saying, “Leave the truck behind. You can’t take it.”
Liu Yuan didn’t intervene; he wanted to see Shu Yun’s reaction. If she insisted on driving away at all costs and resorting to violence, he could still return it to them later.
Shu Yun said, “Give it to them, let’s go.”
Watching Shu Yun’s group walk away, Heizi remarked, “Brother Yuan, why didn’t we keep them? So many pretty girls.”
Liu Yuan slapped Heizi in the back of the head. “Damn it, why do you have to stir up trouble? This woman isn’t easy to deal with.”
Heizi covered his face. “What’s there to be afraid of? With so many of us, will she dare to go down fighting?”
Liu Yuan thought to himself, these people must be somewhere nearby. He needed to find an opportunity, figure out their details, and deal with them all at once. Otherwise, they’d certainly face retaliation.
Liu Yuan and his group were from an economic development zone nearby, factory workers. Liu Yuan, known for his influence, intelligence, and strength, naturally became their apparent leader.
Shu Yun and the others returned to the villa area with heavy hearts.
Su Dazhu, guarding the entrance of the residential area, saw the person Shu Yun was carrying and immediately realized that another battle was about to unfold.
Shu Yun found Chen Luo and lowered her head. “I’m sorry. I didn’t lead everyone well. Yan Li didn’t die at the hands of the zombies; she died at the hands of other survivors.”
Survivors fighting among themselves resulted in just as many deaths as those from zombies’ attacks. As long as they were alive, danger would be present at all times.
The world was becoming increasingly perilous, and Chen Luo intended to toughen them up. Flowers don’t grow in a greenhouse.
The loss of a member affected Chen Luo as well, especially since it was someone he had known for a while.
Chen Luo sighed heavily. “You did the right thing. Going all out back then wouldn’t have been wise.”
Chen Luo gathered everyone together.
In a somber tone, he said, “You’re all with me. If you die in the hands of zombies, I have nothing to say. But if someone dares to bully you, have they asked whether I would agree?”
“I won’t agree. Blood debts must be repaid in blood.”
“I’m the kind of person who never lets a grudge go overnight.”
“Everyone, follow me. No one who bullies my people will stay alive.”
Upon hearing this, everyone was filled with righteous indignation. Especially Chen Luo’s words, they stirred their blood and made them boil with determination.
Following Chen Luo, no one would dare to bully them.
One by one, they got into their cars, preparing to reach their destination quickly.
The Thunderbolt King also wanted to join, but Chen Luo scolded, “Why are you following us? Are you even human? You don’t have a home?”
The Thunderbolt King pouted. That’s right, I’m not human. I don’t need to go.
The group hurried towards the residential area.
Car after car entered the area. Liu Yuan, concerned about potential events, had a few people watching the direction of the residential area.
“Brother Yuan, someone is coming. It seems like the same group that just left.”
Liu Yuan immediately looked out the window and saw over sixty people getting out of the cars. A young man seemed to notice him and locked his fierce gaze onto him.
