Chapter 225 Law Enforcement Elder Guards the World (39)
Many of Shen Zhuo’s experiences mirrored the long, dark period Bai Tang had endured—constantly being trampled and insulted. Seeing Shen Zhuo’s past felt like glimpsing Bai Tang’s own.
Bai Tang smiled and said, “Little disciple, this isn’t your fault. They say it’s the law of the jungle, that the strong prey on the weak. Animals do that, but we are not animals. In the world of cultivation, there will always be some who act recklessly. In such times, one must be strong and resourceful, but that doesn’t mean it’s a matter of the weak being devoured. This rule shouldn’t be applied to our sect. Humans are not merely driven by appetite; we have thoughts and hearts. If the rules are wrong, then we should create a new set. Just like the new rules the Divine Movement Sect has introduced.”
“Similarly, little disciple, I want to tell you again: you can be a very good person, and you are not a lowly person. Do you remember that?”
Shen Zhuo’s eyes flickered. “If Master tells me a few more times, I’ll remember.”
The white bones outside continued to gather but couldn’t come near the restriction. The moment they touched it, they turned to dust. They surrounded the area in an impenetrable mass, which was quite eerie to behold.
“Master, they don’t seem willing to let me go. I clearly haven’t done anything wrong.”
In this lifetime, he had truly been clean. His hands had not yet been stained with blood. His thoughts were not entirely pure, and he occasionally thought about destroying the world, but he did so less frequently now. This life was good; he only needed to seek revenge. Just as Master had said, the people of Prince Shen’s Mansion couldn’t represent everyone, and not everyone was like that family.
Fang Xingyun remained silent. He had initially wondered if their bad luck had led them to encounter the Yin Bone Soldiers, but after listening to the Law Enforcement Elder’s conversation with Shen Zhuo, he no longer doubted the Elder’s insights.
Bai Tang narrowed her beautiful phoenix eyes. “Little disciple, wait a little longer. The Yin Bone King hasn’t appeared yet. They seem to have misunderstood, thinking they can delay until the restriction disappears. These things are so ugly they hurt the eyes. Why don’t you focus on the aurora instead? I’ll send a message to A’Jin. Your Senior Brother is very worried about you.”
“Alright, Master.”
Shen Zhuo rested his head and watched the scene before him. The aurora was beautiful, far more pleasing to the eyes than the white bones.
Bai Tang asked Zhong Jin, “A’Jin, how are things on your side?”
Zhong Jin cut through a root of the Jadewood Demon, but more roots attacked him immediately. While fighting alongside others, he responded, “Master, I had planned to rescue my Junior Brother and Senior Brother Fang. I encountered the Jadewood Demon here and got entangled. I couldn’t free myself in time.”
Bai Tang said, “Be careful. Don’t worry about them; with me here, they will be fine.”
“Understood, Master.”
Bai Tang added, “A’Zhuo is injured. I promised him I would bring him some candy next time we meet.”
Zhong Jin replied, “Since Master is bringing candy for Junior Brother, I’ll bring something else.”
He was more than willing to take care of his Junior Brother.
Bai Tang nodded in satisfaction. “A’Jin is very clever. Handle the situation with care and make sure to clean wounds promptly to prevent infection. I’ll keep a closer watch on A’Zhuo’s situation.”
Zhong Jin struck with his sword, severing another root of the Jadewood Demon. This time, the severed root did not regrow. “Master, I understand. Please keep an eye on Junior Brother.”
Bai Tang severed the connection with Zhong Jin. Shen Zhuo, still somewhat dazed, had heard their conversation clearly.
Master had said to feel and discern with one’s heart, and he could sense that both Master and Senior Brother treated him well.
He no longer needed to envy those who lived in the limelight.
Bai Tang waited for the Yin Bone King to appear, making idle conversation. “Little disciple, where is the garment I gave you?”
…
Author’s Note: Little Tang’er had shown Shen Zhuo the aurora, hoping it would encourage him not to give up on saving himself and to become a beautiful and mysterious light in the darkness. He could be his own light and also be a light for others.
