The Sensation of the Level 8 Fruit (Part 1)
As soon as Ye Mo’s announcement was made, the entire interstellar network erupted in chaos. Without further action needed from her, General Mo promptly removed all suspicious individuals from Kamo Star. Patrol ships now circled the skies, and anyone attempting to enter faced rigorous military checks. During the operation, General Mo captured over a hundred interstellar criminals, but it was Ye Mo, the pregnant woman, who caught his attention.
When Ye Mo’s photo appeared before him, General Mo’s expression shifted. He recognized her; he had visited Kamo Star once, entangled in a conspiracy against him. Drugged and left with a young girl, he had struggled to maintain control but had memorized the girl’s face—it was the same face now staring back at him.
After his rescue, the girl had been dismissed by his subordinates. The thought crossed his mind: could the child be his? But with his fertility score only at eight points, he doubted it was possible unless the transcendent plant master had even more advanced fruits than he knew. If so then he would have a chance to have his own children in his life.
General Mo saw that Ye Mo’s child was registered under Zhang Yuming, who had a fertility score of thirteen—a more plausible match. Feeling a twinge of unease, he resolved to show some care if their paths ever crossed.
Kamo Star was now at the centre of attention throughout the galaxy, thanks to the potential for fertility enhancement. The Interstellar Alliance urged General Mo to bring the transcendent plant master to their headquarters, but he claimed ignorance of the master’s whereabouts and refused to cooperate, asserting that the master was within his jurisdiction. He had no intention of handing her over.
Unconvinced, the Alliance sent agents to track down Ye Mo, but thanks to her spell-enhanced concealment and cleverly programmed wristwatch, they found nothing. Ye Mo even received a heads-up from Yan Mingxiu, now serving as General Mo’s secretary and the link to the transcendent plant master.
Meanwhile, Ye Mo focused on researching her personal space. She discovered that crops grown in her black soil had effects comparable to level 10 fruits. She named the waters in her Yin-Yang Pool “Life Water” and “Death Water.” When she planted an apple tree and watered it with Life Water, the tree didn’t drain the surrounding vitality as it would outside her space and grew rapidly. However, after bearing fruit five times—all equivalent to level 1 fruit—the tree turned to ash and merged back into the soil.
Ye Mo frowned, she was a little confused
Then, Ye Mo planted another tree without watering it. In five days, it bloomed, and by the seventh day, it bore fruit similar to level 5 fruit. Realizing that watering the black soil boosted its potency, she instructed her robotic helpers to alternate planting level 1 and level 5 fruit trees. That is planting first-level fruit once and then planting fifth-level fruit once and so on in rotation.
Half a month had passed since the sale of the level 9 fruits, yet the frenzy surrounding them persisted online. Emerging from her space, Ye Mo contacted Yan Mingxiu, asking her to find individuals with a fertility score of zero to test the level 8 fruit. Yan Mingxiu quickly reported this to General Mo, who selected a soldier with a genetic health of fifteen percent.
This new experiment was broadcast live on the Fisherman’s website, and the announcement of testing level 8 fruits sparked another wave of excitement throughout the interstellar realm. Speculations ran wild about how much better the level 8 fruits would perform compared to the level 9 fruits.
Comments flooded in:
“How much will this level 8 fruit boost genetic health and fertility?”
“No idea, but it’s thrilling to watch!”
“I can’t wait to find out!”
“Level 8 fruit has to be a huge step up from level 9, right?”
“How does the master determine the fruit levels?”
“No clue!”
“I think I know!”
“What’s the secret? Spill it!”
“Please, tell us!”
“Did you watch the videos closely? Each tree bears fruit ten times, so level 10 fruits are the last. It works backward, meaning the best could be level 1. The master’s approach is gradual, making me curious about what level 1 fruit can do.”
“You’re right! She waves her hand ten times when picking fruit.”
“So, the level 10 fruit we bought was from the final batch?”
“Yes.”
“I thought the level 9 fruit tasted better. Will level 8 taste even better?”
“We’ll only know once we try it.”
Amid these discussions, Ye Mo’s grandmother and aunt sat in the living room as Ye Mo brought in two plates of fruit, including apples, pears, peaches, watermelon, and grapes. The sight of the fruits left them stunned.
“Mo Mo, are these…?”
“These are level 6 fruits, Grandma and Aunt. Eat as much as you like,” Ye Mo reassured them.
They hesitated, knowing that if level 9 fruits sold for 300,000 star coins per set, level 6 must be worth even more.
“Why aren’t you eating, Grandma?” Ye Mo asked.
“These fruits are too precious,” her grandmother replied, frowning.
“We have plenty, Grandma,” Ye Mo said with a smile.
Hearing this, her grandmother and aunt’s faces brightened.
“Mo Mo, do you know the master?” her aunt asked excitedly.
Ye Mo nodded. “Yes, but please don’t sell these fruits. It would give away that we’re connected to the master.”
“We’ll enjoy them but keep it to ourselves,” her grandmother agreed, taking a bite of watermelon. “It’s so sweet!”
They ate with delight, momentarily forgetting their worries about the upcoming level 8 fruit experiment.
