Chapter 341: Blessed With Two Daughters
“This is my friend’s story. Gui Gui, how do you feel after hearing it?”
Ghost Mother pondered seriously for a while, then shook her head even more confusedly, as if she, being a ghost, couldn’t understand human emotions. Although she expected this answer, Ye Wenxin still felt a bit disappointed. She slowly stood up, dusted off her clothes, and continued, “If you don’t understand, then forget it. Alright, I’ll let you out.”
“Huh? Let me out, really!?” Compared to listening to the story earlier, Ghost Mother’s emotions now appeared particularly excited. Ye Wenxin nodded. She took out the last flag that had fallen from the painting and waved it towards the cage.
In an instant, the flag absorbed the cage’s sealing power. Ghost Mother cautiously touched the iron bars and saw that her hand could indeed reach outside. She was very happy, and then carefully used her ghost hand to touch Ye Wenxin, who also reached out and felt the coldness of Ghost Mother’s body.
Maybe because she was a ghost, her body didn’t have the warmth or heartbeat of a living person.
“Am I really free?” Ghost Mother still couldn’t believe it, and cautiously examined her surroundings. She was constantly worried that the dreaded Celestial Master Zhong might suddenly return.
“Yes, you can come out now.” Ye Wenxin nodded again. She cut off the ordinary lock on the other side and guided Ghost Mother out of the cage.
Ghost Mother beamed, curiously looking around at everything. She was thrilled, and as she glanced at Ye Wenxin, a flash of malice flickered in her eyes.
Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but smile bitterly inside. She knew things wouldn’t be that simple. The so-called umbrella sword was not only a container for Ghost Mother, but also the only means to control her.
“Hahahaha, I’m finally free!” Ghost Mother’s girlish appearance began to crumble as she manically charged at Ye Wenxin. Ye Wenxin, having already lifted the seal, moved slightly and floated far away.
She drew the umbrella sword, and Ghost Mother’s expression showed a trace of fear. Still, she commanded the surrounding Yin Fetuses to attack Ye Wenxin. Tens of thousands of them gathered together, and as Ye Wenxin released pressure from her body, red flowers enveloped her, making her appear even more stunning.
In contrast, Ghost Mother’s form became more freakish as sharp horns grew from her head. Her features remained striking, but her eyes had turned blood red, filled with intense malice. The Yin Fetuses floated in the air; their aggression and speed greatly increased, with dark green orbs of light faintly visible.
“Puffing Flower!” Ye Wenxin uttered two words, and in an instant, the Yin Fetuses exploded, from which enormous flowers emerged, continuously expanding and rapidly bursting open.
One explosion triggered another, and soon dark green liquid rained down on her. Ye Wenxin opened her umbrella, shielding herself from the falling droplets. She worried the umbrella might dissolve, but the scriptures on its surface began to glow faintly, absorbing the liquid.
She grabbed the hilt and drew the umbrella sword, releasing an even more intense chill, as if the sword had been starved for a long time. Sensing Ghost Mother from afar, the sword glowed and warmed up. A line of text appeared on the hilt, and Ye Wenxin read its meaning:
[Sword Ghost]
This was the umbrella sword’s name. Ye Wenxin recited it, recalling fragments of memory as she wielded the sword.
“Sword Ghost, come forth!” As soon as she spoke, a woman with red hair and red clothes emerged from the umbrella. Her face was deathly pale, looking identical to that of Ghost Mother. This was Sword Ghost, whom Celestial Master Zhong created by splitting Ghost Mother in two to suppress her.
Sword Ghost grinned broadly upon seeing Ghost Mother. Before Ye Wenxin could even swing the sword, Sword Ghost had already grasped it and charged forward. If Ye Wenxin weren’t Sword Ghost’s master, it would have appeared as if the sword was attacking on its own.
In reality, it was Sword Ghost wielding the sword. Witnessing this, Ye Wenxin realized how weak those so-called ancient divine weapons were. This god-tier weapon could attack automatically, and with proper coordination, she could even pretend to be proficient with it, avoiding unnecessary troubles.
The more she watched, the more excited she became. She saw Sword Ghost rush forward, slaying the Yin Fetuses. Ghost Mother seemed extremely fearful of Sword Ghost, and frantically summoned more Yin Fetuses to attack her. However, Sword Ghost was even more ferocious. She sliced the Yin Fetuses to pieces and laughed evilly. “We finally meet again, Yue (Moon).”
“Ri1 (Sun), why won’t you let me go!?”
There was a part of the story that Celestial Master Zhong only learned much later. Ye Wenxin found this information after much searching. Back then, Ghost Mother, still known as Zhong Mi, had stolen the Yin-Yang Pearls from the Ghost King, which gave her the opportunity to devour him and become even more powerful than the Ghost King himself.
The Yin-Yang Pearls merged with Ghost Mother, and knowing Ye Wenxin’s character, Celestial Master Zhong feared she wouldn’t be able to handle her. Therefore, he had to split Ghost Mother into two. The Yin Pearl became Ghost Mother’s main body, and the Yang Pearl gave birth to Sword Ghost, creating a mutual restraint to prevent chaos from either side.
The two fought endlessly, yet neither could defeat the other, maintaining mutual restraint and enmity. It was like the red Yin Fetus fighting the blue Yin Fetus that Ye Wenxin had seen in the dining hall. They were like bickering children, and as they fought, a large crater appeared in the distance, destroying a nearby hill.
Ye Wenxin grew tired of watching. She realized that the strength of the two divided ghosts wasn’t very impressive. She threw the umbrella, and it proceeded to absorb Ghost Mother. Sword Ghost watched Ghost Mother get captured, and looked at Ye Wenxin with what seemed like curiosity.
“Xiao Jian Jian (Jian – sword), why are you staring at me like that?” Ye Wenxin noticed that, compared to Ghost Mother, Sword Ghost was much livelier, though still shrouded in a gloomy aura, completely devoid of any living person’s warmth.
“I just want to look at my master more,” Sword Ghost responded with a smile. She moved closer to Ye Wenxin, the sword following along, as if very curious about her.
“Master? You sure changed your title quickly. The old man would cry if he heard you.”
Celestial Master Zhong’s memories reminded her that Sword Ghost was just as dangerous as Ghost Mother. Many times, Celestial Master Zhong had nearly been killed by Sword Ghost, which caused him to age significantly in a short period of time.
If Ye Wenxin didn’t establish some authority, she feared she might end up as exhausted as Celestial Master Zhong. She saw no restraining method in his memories, however, so Ye Wenxin had to figure something out later.
For now, she needed to consider finding the others to deal with this situation. The commotion they caused had dispelled the villa’s illusions, and it wouldn’t be long before the group heard the noise and came to investigate.
