Chapter 34: Men Aren’t Difficult to Talk to in Bed

Ye Yaodong hurried over to A Guang’s house, and from quite a distance away, he could already smell the fragrant aroma of steamed crabs.

As soon as he stepped over the threshold, everyone exclaimed, “You finally made it! If you were any later, you’d just be washing dishes!”

“Come, come, sit down! We saved that special nine-segment shrimp just for you…”

“Showing up this late? That means you owe us three drinks!”

“Who cares about that? There’s only a little bit of alcohol, don’t let him fool you out of it!”

Everyone was lively and cheerful, finishing off all the alcohol brought by the fat guy, and once the seafood on the table was cleared, they all went their separate ways.

Ye Yaodong returned home, slightly tipsy. Today, the door wasn’t locked, so he casually locked it behind him and headed to his own room.

With the moonlight streaming in through the window, he could barely see his two children sprawled out in their sleep. His wife was facing away from him, and he couldn’t tell if she was asleep or not.

After stripping down to just his shorts, he climbed into bed and wrapped his arms around his wife, pressing against her back, only to be met with a firm slap on his waist.

“Go lie on your own side! You’re so crowded; it’s hot enough already, and you smell like alcohol!” Lin Xiuqing murmured.

Ye Yaodong simply turned her around, covering her mouth to silence her protests.

“Can you stop talking? Just yesterday we…”

“Yesterday was yesterday; today is today. Can you cooperate a bit, dear wife…?”

“Then you can come with me to the beach tomorrow!”

Ye Yaodong’s eyes widened. How had she learned to negotiate like this? Did she really think he would agree just because he was feeling frisky?

Men aren’t difficult to talk to in bed, are they? Especially since he had already planned to visit the deserted island tomorrow to overcome his fears.

“Then you’d better go take a shower first!”

My luck has been great lately, and I’ve earned you quite a bit these past few days, enough to cover seven or eight days of fishing nets. Tomorrow is the first day of the month, and there will be a big tide; maybe I’ll catch even bigger fish…”

“Okay, then you go wash up, and I’ll agree to whatever you want after that!”

With a positive answer secured, Ye Yaodong excitedly jumped up and rushed to the back door to shower.

Damn it, it had been decades; let’s see how he can reclaim his vigor!

After he lay down on the bed like a dead dog, he found he didn’t even want to move a muscle, while his wife was still getting dressed to fetch water and wash up.

He had served her so much, and now he had to work to earn money too!

“Come over and sleep together!”

“My legs are all weak, and you still haven’t had enough?”

“I’m doing all this for whom? It’s all to satisfy you…”

“Stop talking nonsense!” Lin Xiuqing shot him an annoyed glare.

“Ah… it’s me talking nonsense… it’s me talking nonsense… Come here, let me tell you something.” After pulling her down beside him, he said, “I won’t be going to the dock with you tomorrow…”

“Hey, don’t glare at me; let me finish! A Guang is borrowing a boat tomorrow. If he manages to borrow it, we’ll head over to the deserted island. The surrounding smaller islands aren’t being fished, so the reefs must have more goods than the dock.”

“Who is he asking to borrow from? Will anyone actually lend him a boat?”

“He’s asking his aunt’s husband; we’ll see if it works. If not, then it’s no big deal.”

“Alright then, you decide. If you can borrow it, go check out the deserted island, but be careful.”

“Yeah, just don’t think I’m going back on my word!”

He definitely had to give her a heads-up; otherwise, if she didn’t see him tomorrow, she’d think he was fooling her, and then he’d get an unpleasant reaction.

Seeing him showing a bit of ambition, Lin Xiuqing was happy to chat with him a bit more, “Now that the family boat has been repaired, the catch has been good these days. Shouldn’t you take turns going out to sea with your elder brothers like them?”

If he couldn’t borrow the boat, he’d just swim from the beach to the dock during high tide with a couple of friends, giving it a try. After all, he had died once before, so there was nothing much to fear.

If something went wrong, his friends would be there to help him!

The next morning, Lin Xiuqing got up, and upon hearing the noise, he woke up too. This time, he didn’t deliberately stay in bed longer.

His family noticed he was getting up earlier each day; they were curious but didn’t think too much of it since he had indeed been a bit more diligent these past few days.

After breakfast, everyone went about their tasks, and Ye Yaodong prepared to head out. Just then, the old lady quietly followed him to the door and tugged at his sleeve.

He looked over in confusion to see the old lady sneakily pull out a boiled egg from her pocket and whisper to him.

“Here, take this and eat it secretly; don’t let your mother know.”

He looked at her in surprise, a bit guilty as he glanced behind him, and murmured, “No wonder my mother said there was one less egg this morning; you took it.”

Seeing that he didn’t reach for it, the old lady directly shoved it into his pocket, her face filled with wrinkles as she smiled, exposing her toothless gums.

“You’ve been going out to the sea every day; you must be exhausted. I secretly boiled an egg for you before making the porridge this morning to help you recover. Don’t let your mother find out, or she’ll scold you again.”

He wanted to take the egg out, but the old lady kept pressing his hand down to stop him, leaving him feeling helpless.
